A dead baby girl was found this evening around
5.25pm
by UNILAG canal close to the main gate of the school in Akoka, Lagos. The baby, dressed and wearing diapers, was already dead when people noticed and brought her out of the canal. Ants were seen
all over her body. Such an unbelievably heart-wrenching sight. See it after the cut...*viewer discretion advised*

Truth is that in many areas, especially the low income areas, when they have a small child and it dies they look for the nearest canal and throw the body inside to avoid all the expenses of a burial. What do you expect from people who can barely feed themselves from day to day.
I overheard my barber talking with one of his friends (people see me and just assume that i dont speak yoruba and i know how to keep an expressionless face) about how the friends less than a month old baby died and he just put the baby inside Nylon and dropped her in one river around mile 12 (Agboyi area) and they were like the amount of bodies that will be inside that river go plenty. I couldnt blame the guy cos where was he going to see money to bury a baby he couldnt provide health care for.
This baby looks well taken care off, she may have been kidnapped or wondered off from home and fallen into the canal. You will be shocked at how some people are careless and let their children wander around in public places, especially church.
Unfortunately our police are so ineffective, they cant even investigate anything. No proper forensics lab or anything. You see them at crime scenes using bare hands to pack bullet and everything else. The average police man on the street does not know about dna or fingerprint.
It is only God that will save Nigeria from us Nigerians, we are our own greatest problem. Next year again we will vote for some corrupt leaders that will only enrich themselves and steal all the wealth of the nation that should be used to develop the nation.

Given that the child does not look like a newborn and how she was dressed including diaper, it looks as if this child was actually a child that was loved. She may have wondered off or left somewhere by mistake and somehow had an unfortunate accident. Either way, I feel so badly that an innocent died. RIP.

Ah, to think that I have been fasting and praying for a beautiful baby girl like this for over six years and God gave this beautiful baby to this ungrateful person that threw the innocent baby to a canal!! Well, may God forgive her.
