This is a great opportunity to express what I think about this AY guy (Real name: Ayo Makun). No personal beef, for the guy and I attended Delta State University together. Frankly, he is an intelligent guy, talented and a great organizer. AY actually organized some of the best campus events we know then (The Most Beautiful Girl in DELSU pageant and DELSU Achievers Merit Awards). But I see AY more as a businessman than a comedian; he has a good organizational competence, and with this he brings real talented comedians together (including gifted upcoming ones) and makes good bucks on their head. I have never seen this guy tell a great joke, except mimicking of pastors like Okotie, Eyakhilome and other mainstream personalities. I don’t know what he thinks he is doing whenever he wears one of those flowing white garments in one of his shows like an aladura prophet. And whenever I hear people making noise about ‘AY Show’ as if the guy is the one to watch out for in the show, I am amused. This guy is a less than talented comedian, and if I meet him one on one, I will tell him to his face. Right now, Nigeria has some very hilarious comedian that could crack ya ribs, and AY is definitely not one of them. He is a businessman. If he feels sad about this, he should work hard on becoming like Aziz Ansari, Louis C.K. or better still, John Mulaney. But this guy get brain shall. He just dey make money and fame with people’s talent. On stage, he would shout, “Emi ooo! Emi ooo!! Emi ooo!!! And would fill the whole stage with smoke, thereby wasting or buying time with his useless prophecies.
