Photo: Akwa Ibom commissioner kneels before the state First Lady

Here's a photo of Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Etim kneeling before the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Godswill Akpabio at an event recently. Some of you may say he's not really kneeling, just having a close conversation...but...there are several empty seats beside the woman that commissioner Etim could have sat on to speak with her...you get? Lol. The pic is making a lot of people from the state mad! And they sent it over for y'all to judge...:-)

I can say, it's a sign of respect, there is nothing wrong with the commissioner kneeling to discuss with the first lady. Those seats there carries people's name on them so you just don't expect him to sit on any of it because he is a commissioner. Maybe what he came to tell the first lady may not even demand him sitting. It's a sign of respect for the state, the organiser of the programme and also to the first lady. Why can't people use their brain sometime even you linda or are you so desperate these days, Can't you see that those seats have name-tag on them and it will be uncivilsed of the commisioner to sit on any if his name is not there. The picture is clear that they were just having a conversation and he wouldn't want to stand to cause obstruction and distraction considering it is the 'high- table'. This is the problem why we will never grow in Africa. For me the man is too civilsed. Looking for trouble where there is none is our hobby

There's nothing wrong with the commissioner kneeling to talk to the First Lady of the State. Not like he knelt to worship her but probably to convey a message. Read below, what N. Mandela had for us way back in 2007.
Re:MANDELA'S MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS & NIGERIAN LEADERS (Excerpts taken from a 2007 interview with Mandela conducted by Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed)

"You know Iam not very happy with Nigeria. I have made that very clear on many occasions.

Yes, Nigeria stood by us more than any nation, but you let yourselves down, and Africa and the black race very badly!

Your leaders have no respect for their people. They believe that their personal interests are the intersts of the people. They take people's resources and turn them into their personal wealth.

There is a level of poverty in Nigeria that should not be acceptable. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not more angry than they are!

What do young Nigerians think about your leaders and their country and Africa? Do you teach them history? Do you have lessons on how your past leaders stood by us and gave us large amounts of money? You know I hear from Angolans and Mozambicans and Zimbabweans how your people opened their hearts and their homes to them. I was in prison then, but we know how your leaders punished Western Companies who supported Apartheid.

'What about corruption and crimes? YOUR ELECTIONS ARE LIKE WARS. NOW WE HEAR THAT YOU CANNOT BE PRESIDENT IN NIGERIA UNLESS YOU ARE MUSLIM OR CHRISTIAN. SOME PEOPLE TELL ME THAT YOUR COUNTRY MAY BREAK UP. PLEASE DON'T LET IT HAPPEN

Let me tell you what I think you need to do, You should encourage leaders to emerge WHO WILL NOT CONFUSE PUBLIC OFFICE WITH SOURCES OF MAKING PERSONAL WEALTH,

Corrupt people do not make good leaders; then you have to spend a lot of your resources for education.

Edeucated children ofmthe poor, so that they can get out of poverty. Poverty does not breed confidence. Only confident people can bring changes. Poor educated people can also bring change, but it will be hijacked by the educated and wealthy....... Give young Nigerians good educztion . TEACH THEM THE VALUE OF HARD WORK AND SACRIFICE, AND DISCOURAGE THEM FROM CRIMES WHICH ARE DESTROYING YOUR IMAGE AS A GOOD PEOPLE

Linda be careful oh, I hear what this commissioner does is to lock up people who step on his toes. I hear he has locked up two young men of recent who he feels are not dancing to his tune. He is a well known mafia and controls his own mafia squad in that area, they dont call him "Don" for nothing.
