Nigerian man sentenced to death in Malaysia for drug trafficking

A 35 year old Nigerian man was sentenced to death today November 25th by a Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 251.66 gm of methapethamine.

Abuchi Ngwoke, was arrested in May 2012 at a Malaysian airport. He had swallowed the drugs.

The High court judge described Ngwoke's testimony about swallowing gemstones in Nigeria before traveling to Malaysia as absurd. A date is yet to be set for his execution.

Why sentenced to death? What he did is illegal but the sentence is too much hate ... what happened to some years imprisonment? I hate this rule of law...

It's a pity to hear this but I still can't understand how people will have mind to do drugs in those countries even though it's clearly written on their visas that drug trafficking attracts death penalty.

Wow, is it possible to execute a citiizen of another country in a foreign land? Just asking oh; because if it's not feasible, and dis young man gets executed in Malaysia, then shame to d Nigerian got!!! Even at dat, I still believe d Nigerian govt can negotiate with Malaysian govt for him to be extradited back home to serve a befitting jail term......really, I can't imagine an American citizen being on death row in Nigeria for drug trafficking; not as if he committed murder here, and d American govt won't have negotiations with Nigerian govt?

BTW, why should the sentence be execution and not imprisonment, when he didn't commit murder???? Pls, lawyers, or anybody should enlighten me oh...

Death is the punishment for trafficking in drugs in Malaysia, its a common fact. They are fighting desperately to keep sanity in their society unlike what obtains in America. Why foolish Nigerians will always take their drugs there is completely beyond me. Drugs are bad and those pple don't play about it. They will KILL you for trafficking drugs in their country.

Anonymous said...

Despite the travails at home, taking drugs to Malaysia was his choice. It is a known fact that they don't joke with pple bringing drugs into their country.

Anonymous said...

Malaysian visa states that drug trafficking attracts the death penalty. Na red ink den take write am in a very large font sef. The guy tink say Na joke?!pity though!

Anonymous said...

Perhaps Nigerians shouldn't go to those countries you mentioned to commit crimes thst warrant the death penalty, like trafficking in drugs.

Don't blame dis on government, what of personal development and self esteem, where are all dis attributes, and for doz saying ibos, it's not only the the ibos that are involved in dis, all lazy Nigerians are into it and doz dat don't want to pay the ultimate prize of success but want to be rich. Lesson for odas, may his soul rest in peace.

Unknown said...

Malaysia is a racist country, they don't like Nigerian and that's why they imposed death penalty for just drug trafficking.

Unknown said...

So unemployment = drug trafficking? Hmm! Na wah for u o! There is NO excuse to trafficking drugs especially considering its harm to any society- societies that are made up of families. Yours and mine. Then worse off, you decide to tak that drug to Malaysia. Well done very well

Google is your friend, Malaysia is a sovereign country their laws cant be tempered with by any country. A US citizen crime in Malaysia wont affect diplomacy between the two countries. So my friend US or no US law is law. Nigerians must stop their dirty tendencies of quick money.

Anonymous said...

U are the bigger fool why dnt u go and do drugs? Is it not his mates hustling spare parts in Alaba market or selling in traffic? Which unemployment will make u do drugs? It's easy money to them without hard work..... Sorry no pity, we all feel the crunch of the economy.... Make e make peace with baba God before dem kill am.....
