Here's a bizarre email I got from a batch A Corp member serving in
Victory Model College, Efodo - Okpo, Olamaboro L.G.A of Kogi State. The mail below and the threat written on a blackboard above
It's no good news to hear that NYSC Corp Members are treated with
discontentment in Kogi State, especially in remote local government like
Olamaboro.
There have been cases of some drunk youths ganging up to launch attack
on corpers at their capital project sites, accusing them of integrating
strange norms into their culture
Let me go straight to what I witnessed this morning. I woke up this morning like every other boring mornings in the
village where I serve, dressed up, and went to the school. On arrival,
all the students were gathered at one corner looking at me and the other
Corp members, some with satisfaction, while others with pity.
On getting to the class rooms, we saw some write-ups directly warning me
and other three(3) batch A Corp members. The pictures attached to this
email will help tell the story better (even with the wrong English). Continue...
As am writing this report, four(4) of us (batch A) and two (2) other
batch C corpers are on hide out, praying God to intervene on the issue.
Batch A passing out parade (POP) comes up on the 13th of February,
and the question is why would people whose lives we have impacted for
close to one year decide to reward us with death threats?

These shitty kids are out of their freaking minds. I also served in a remote village in a sec sch, and believe me some of these kids appreciate our works. Just some shitty ones who see themselves as untouchable and unpunishable. My advise to these corpers...just play to their tunes, not that ur scared of em, but you have very limited time to spend there, just pls try to 'enjoy' the boring life the place is got to offer cos its just a 'now' issue. You should threaten to deal with the class if they don't produce who wrote it. Bring in armed police or something and make them really scared. Let them know say you be government property.
Meanwhile, if you really thing you are in danger, it should be justification for NYSC to move you somewhere else. NYSC is not "do or die."

this is not just empty threats. during my service year in borno state, some of my colleagues were threatened on many occassions until one night...they laid ambush for Tayo and gave him d beating of his life and he had to be admitted at the hospital. guess what punishment the pepetrators received? ten strokes of cain, can u imagine?

Hmmm... I'm a Batch C corp member, serving in Kebbi state. Fortunantely for me I serve in the hospital as a Corp Doctor.. But since I came, I've been respecting myself eversince I understood how the state works. 80% Moslems, 20% christians, corp members are seen as trying to corrupt their town, Meanwhile Alhajis here wontallow corp members rest, if you're too stubborn they go local on you. Some corp members have lost their lives in the previous batches (B and A), most people stay in the barracks for security. I know nothing will happen to me cos I'm covered by the blood of Jesus.. It is well.

Boko haram was started by Ibb n Gen Aliyu Gusau and when late Gen Azazi said publicly that BH sponsors were in PDP,they had to get rid of him even after he was retired cos he knew too much.Sadly late gov Yakowa was just at the wrong place at the wrong time so he was collateral damage.

The same thing happened to me and my colleagues in oke offin kabba, kogi state last year but we fished the culprits out.Those students are not ready to do anything meaningful with their lives and the community doesn't care

Secondly , unfortunate that they are not interested in learning and going through school like students but like glorified thugs and cult members. Finally, I strongly advise that the Corpers leave the school, log and official complaint with NYSC so they are not punished for leaving their primary place of assignments. Corp members when will you start to reject being posted to these states of the north, I know many might be safe there but to me one corp member that is being killed Means too many to me. Reject that posting down there so that government reviews Nysc posting or scrap it, during my own time I rejected my posting to North.. Dear Corper, it's sad when you get such a threat as a reward to the service of your fatherland. However, I want to believe you have reported the case to the school principal, if they've got one. Take another step to make sure your LGI and ZI knows about it. Make sure you report it in a police station, if they have one as well.
Also, in such villages, Corpers always have a direct link with the community leaders, let them be aware of the situation as well, trust me they will fish out the so called "baddest court".
Make sure you guys, make sure you guys walk in groups, and if it the NCCF or Muslim family house isn't too far from you, I would advice you consider moving there for the main time, until you're assured of your security.

As much as this could be a really expensive prank, it shouldn't be taken and perceived as such. If someone goes as far as making such a threat known, be rest assured that they mean to carry it out cos obviously they ain't alone and they are definitely not afraid. Those corpers should better leave that village immediately cos no one will protect them if they don't take precautions. I had a totally different experience when I served cos it was one of the best years 've had in recent times. I met really good students with good teachers and hands on admin staff who welcomed me n my colleagues with eagerness and warmth. The atmosphere wasn't the best but the students reciprocated all the kindness and care we showed em. No doubt, there were some misguided idiots amongst them but they were really a minority. Bottom line, when ur nice to people, there's a high tendency they'll return the favour. But when u go into a new place, posing all high and mighty exerting so much authority, flogging and punishing students with impunity, molesting and treating kids like slaves, disrespecting teachers and people in the community what do u expect will be done to u? Having said that cultism is definitely unacceptable especially at that level, they should be rounded up and used to set examples for others to follow.
