Photos: This is Lagos!

Left photo shows refuse dumped under a LAWMA signboard that says 'no dumping of waste' lol. The 2nd pic shows a soldier punishing a man for crossing the express road instead of using the pedestrian bridge. The pic is funny but what's happening here is so wrong. Why punish an adult for violating road traffic law? Why not arrest them, take them to court, fine them? Someone should caution these soldiers.

Things like this happens when you have bad leadership at the top who cannot stop this mess. In nigeria The sodiers are chief judge. the politicians sees nothing wrong in this.

If you appreciate yourself and your reputation and you have ever been punished by a soldier on a major road, you will know how embarrassing it is!

Anonymous said...

No mind Linda. De talk rubbish for mouth. Why would an elder disobey the law? Even market women carrying loads still use the bridge. Go to court and fine ko. Like sey u go help bail the man when he is fined.next tym he will think twice before crossing the express. Mtschew.

The punishment is well deserved, a tougher punishment is recommended cos Nigerians only learn the hard way. However, the government should put proper refuse management system in place before making laws else people will continue to break the law. With that being said, Nigerians, let us always do the right thing perhaps our government can learn from us.

Bona u won't kill person.. lafing seriously at if soldier punish u, u will know police is ur friend, besides Linda, it's better he's being punished there o.

I hv nva replied any1 on dis blog, but wat u wrote got 2me,soldiers r nxt 2 politician in corruption u tink so ryt?a nigerian footballer wins a match and gets N1million as bonuses,y a soldier goes 2 peace keepin operation and dies, only 4 his wife and family 2be thrown out of d hus.No 1 appreciate d soldier, and wt out soldiers,no peace in dis nation.go and c hw US appreciate dr soldiers.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. Linda why should a sane adult man cross the highway when there is a pedestrian bridge nearby. Unfortunately this 'language' used by the soldier is the only one some people understand.

Unknown said...

This so fucking Soldier has no right to punish any citizen of the country when we are not in Military Regime.. That is Nonsense.. .

This is so wrong,,I so hate all dz soldiers...last 2 weeks my neighbours father an old man of 70 was beaten cos a pack full of soldiers smashed his car with dr vehicle,,wen he asked why? They started beating him..he had brain problem nd started urinating blood,he didn't last up to a week,he died..this is just one of many horrible stories #didi

Anonymous said...

Linda *hush* biko... they deserve more than this, useless people, i dont know why they like risky their lives. Se na goat dem build the bridge for? mtcheeew.

Unknown said...

Let us be frank and real with ourselves, arresting him, taking him to court and/or fining such people would have no effect. Basically because the offender will never see the four walls of a court, he will bribe and beg his way out and commit the same offence on his way home. Nigerians in our present state of lawlessness need the strong hand of discipline, something like Idiagbon's Kick Against indiscipline programme. Capital and on the spot punishments for offences like traffic violations, crossing the expressways and the likes. I dare say, if a soldier punishes you for crossing the expressway and you know the next time you pass that place, he or his colleagues will be there, you fall in love with the pedestrian bridge, even in its dilapitated state.

The funny thing is that the Soldier himself is at the middle of the road. How did the idiot get there if he did not cross?

Hey Sunday Otuns exercises are more or less done voluntarily, he was compelled 2 do dat & so its a punishment. Gbam

what can LAWMA do now, it has taken enlightenment to residents through various radio and tv programmes even billboard. Even a new person in lagos knows how to manage waste. The people's attitude are just bad. Change is a gradual thing i believe we will get there soon.

You know we are in the jungle anything goes in Nigeria. This is only country where soilder will come out beating and flogging civilian and fellow civilian will be clapping .Nigeria is so backward that soilder will come out with uniform to arrest even in husband and wife dispute. They are very good in fighting police Lastma traffic personnel and civilians .pls beg them to use this power they have to defeat boko haram
