A disclaimer was advertised on 2 newspapers a few years ago, of which Guardian was one of them, that he is no longer a recognized Chief of the palace [of the Oba of Benin] due to his own doing and as such should not be recognized as one since tradition forbids it. It's akin to a father disowning his son. Mr. Igbinedion is not even allowed to pay the yearly traditional homage/dance to the palace anymore.
