Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said
“At present, ASUU wants the Federal Government to pay N92 billion in extra allowances, when the resources are not there, and when we are working to integrate past increases in pensions. We need to make choices in this country as we are getting to the stage where recurrent expenditures take the bulk of our resources and people get paid but can do no work. Since I assumed office, the share of recurrent expenditure in our total budgets had increased astronomically. In fact, recurrent expenditure accounted for about 77.2 per cent of the federal budget and we are now working to re-balance this ratio. So what does this mean? Students will continue to stay at home?
The country is still suffering from the effect of the 2010 increase in salary. Do we want to get to a stage in this country that all the money we earn is used to pay salaries and allowances? If the demands of the university lecturers are met and we continue to pay them salaries and allowances, we will not be able to provide infrastructure in the universities.”

How sad...and all this will be at the detriment of students. Too bad a country!
And in other news, here is what Hon Patrick had to say about the ASUU and FG stalemate:
"This ASUU strike is a miasma of a deprecable apothesis of an hemorrhaging plutocracy, cascadinly oozing into a maladorous excresence of mobocracy.
With all tarmangant ossifying proclivities of a kakistocracy, our knowledgia centura is enveloped in a paraphlegic crinkum crankum.
Therefore, ASUU, cest in dejavu, dejavu peret ologomabia."
Phew!!
ASUU Tinzzzzzz!
Really? But FG can afford to spend that money, even more, lavishly on themselves and their stupid personal projects?
Exactly Linda, that is what it means.
Well, we wont blame Mrs Ngozi at least non of this children school in Nigeria, all are in Harvard. So what do you expect from her?
Ask the university lecturers that question!!!
Ok ooooo.......Students shuld still be waiting @ home abi? While deir kids go abroad, study @ d stipulated time, graduate nd work......all easy 4 dem, while d layman's children stay @ home, hustle 4 jobs dat re hard 2 find nd suffer on it all, y won't d Nigerian students take laws in deir own hands nd misbehave? Afterall, an idle mind z d devil's workshop. God ll purnish dem all.....Sasha Fierce says so
Yes, Student should stay at home
I guess its time to get a job. Linda pls can u help?
dey beta du sumfin abt it, cos tins r getting worse 4 students
Can't believe she's talking about workers being paid salaries without working for it when herself and her colleagues are being paid millions in salaries on monthly basis only to deteriorate our country the more through their selfish means..Most of these lectures work hard to earn their monthly income and all they do is sit there in government house and embezzle our money without setting reasonable plans to increase the country's standard..
Madam minister please say something more intelligent and believable. they can't pay 92bn but spend more on ludicrous ventures? Rubbish!!Anyway your children didn't school here so you don't understand what it means to sit at home doing next to nothing.
Iweala! Iweala!! If its about you people's pockets there will be money. God dey!
Wat sort of govt is dis?
wanna go back to school mbok
This country is a joke.
Asuu is jst fighting for their selfish interest...not as if Fed govt is not serious abt implementing that aspect of infrastructure but Asuu want their increment in their allowance which is their main aim of embarking on strike.
If tomorrow u ask any academic staff why they re on strike, he or she will tell u its for d most benefit of d students while in actual sense its for their own selfish nd greedy interest.
Asuu pls allow go back to school joor bcus am pretty sure Fed govt has done d required nd necessary ones. Besides all ur children are oversees studying.
Bunch of ingrates
Pikin weh no allow im papa nd mama sleep no go ever sleep!
I don't blame her when all her children went to Harvard university. #Ode#
Its not their fault, all their children r skooling abroad.
Oh yeah, and the each senator go home with millions of naira every month.
What can ASUU show for all the increments from Government they have enjoyed over the year apart from more strike actions and fallen standard of education in Nigeria. God help Nigeria this time
I never and I will never believe what they(FG)says.they claim no money to meet ASUU's demand yet they have money looting and making jamboree payment to themselves.honestly, the cost of governance should be cut down before our economy collapses
make ASUU and FG FUCK OFF ABEG.. CRIMINALS...
dis Ngozi is really having problems. Is it ur money? Are u FG?
Did she say the resources aren't there?
Really?
How would the resources be "there" when the lady in charge of Nigeria Stock Exchange made a mess of it,dipped her hands into stock monies and got away with it.
How would it be "there" When government officials pulled off that pensions fund scam?
How would it be "there" when senators are paid huge sums to make paeeophile policies.
But the resources are 'there'to support the first lady's flamboyant lifestyle, init?
I just feel bad for the innocent kids that have to sit at home while their leaders continue to play a game of chess with their futures.
no be this woman I hear say she no dey consider anybody wey school for nija.. If u go to her or give her your cv, d first thing she asks u is hope its not Nigerian Uni, d moment u tell her its Nigerian uni,she throws ur Cv back at you..
They can't pay lecturers their demand and pay politicians crazy money and she has d nerve to yap Nigerian Uni anytime she has d oppourtunity... She's a big mad joker..its not her fault! See her like bread wey dey throw inside water
Pls who is dis. ASUU...and how manage them FG take owe them?Does it mean that unilorin& unizik aint teaching well?plz Asuu let our kids return to skool
They should do something as soon as possible, because the rate of prostitution and arm robbering has increased since ASUU went on strike.
Y wud der b money 2 pay lecturers? Wen ds our yeye greedy leaders dn share everything finish! Ds country is messed up, its a shame. Okonjo de der de analyse, when all ur 4 children went to harvard, a schl where de have never ever suffered a minute strike, mtchewww.
Seriously she has Ñ̶̷̩̥̊͡o fault is d fault of d country we all find our selves,hw on earth ll a full brainy human being voice out rubbish like iweala is saying *Abeg wher r d infrastructure b4 nw S̴̩☺̴̩̩̥̩̩̩̥ is nw she realises universities nids infrastructure.May G̶̲̥̅Æ ̴̴̴͡D̶̲̥̅ help us in 9ja
I think the asuu should shift ground there demands is somehow huge,Nigeria cant grow like this both the govt and asuu should work on this asap, and the idea of asuu of staying @ home as long as they want is a bad idea.
I like how the FG makes it look like ASUU is all about salary and allowances, when what they are really fighting for is an upgrade in facilities. Nigerian students should be honest with themselves, is it palatable being in a classroom with 500 people in a space that was meant to seat 100? Is it okay that schools do not have adequate research labs or training facilities for its students? How do you expect a lecturer to handle a class of 500 hundred students with no graduate assistant or teaching support? I have worked in academia for the last 3 years in the US and professors with as little as 30-40 students have atleast 2-3 teaching assistants doing all their work. We will never grow as a country if we do not demand quality in our education, health, economic, security and justice system
please meet asuu half way madam minister.
A senator goes home wit 30Million naira err month as salary! Am not exaggertaing here.... Dey shld cut dat down first of alllllll....

So why Sign the agreement in the first place if u knw that it will be impossible to honour the agreement. At least this same woman was in office when the agreement was signed. Its hightym dis people stopped playing with our intelligence. We're nt fools!!
I don't blame them, because their children are abroad schooling!
Senators are paid ridiculously high salaries, and yet they say they cannot meet ASSU demand? The teachers of our future leaders?
So our children would continue to be at home doing what?
They resources are there for the senators 150billion right? But when the masses on whose backs these fools rode to stardom are involved the resources wouldn't be there.joke of a leadership, bunch of ignoramuses and idiots.. May God help Us.
Dis country is realy a jok.
But they were able to provide 90billion naira for Vice president on his house project if not more than.
Ejike or what's ur name, sense don far 4rm u cos ow wud u say asuu r only fighting 4 der pocket e b lyk say na one of those senior secondary school university u dey go MUMU lyk u....mtchewwww!!!!!
Ahn! Right now, these ASUU peeps are acting like kidnappers o!!!! Demanding money like no tomorrow!
y not federal govt pay 20 billion and c wether ASUU won't resume, they cannot pay 92 billion and so b it,thats an insult, Jonathan's mum build block of classroom 4 schools, which work is she doing, budget of the year is in trillions and still nothing to show for it, misplaced priorities.
This ASUU peeps are greedy...
after increasing students school fees , they still want government to give dem dat amount... they had better wake up
It's a pity.
-Blunt Ibo boy-
But what I don't understand is why is it that it is only when Labour or ASUU or Doctors are on strike that federal government won't have money to pay them but our legislators and representives (in upper and lower house) keep collecting their sitting allowance and their salaries without going on strike, even our senate president proposing for ex senate/house of rep leader to keep collecting salaries after their tenure but when it is for the masses until they strike they won't pay them. If anybody say ASUU is fighting for themselves then the person is a fool because it is these people that lecture them and they are also fighting so that the university can be conducive enough for learning. So my point is that if truly our government is broke and can't afford such money, the effect should not only be on ASUU, it should be on our legislators, executives and all government offices. And also if this woman can find solution to the issue of high recurrent expenditure with all her harvard degrees then its a shame and she's better of resigning for good. *ThatFunctionGuy*
Kai
They shud pls do sometin abt it. Its not funny at all.
Ngozi should stop deceiving Nigerians. Let everybody have fair and equal share of our resources. Is either they cut down the salaries and allowances of political office holders or give ASUU its demand. She said the resources are not there, where is presidency and the legislatures getting the money they lavish on frivolities from? Help us ask them oooooo, OLE, BARAWO, THIEVIES!!!
Madamme okonji iwela, i expected more from you.......so in other words, students should remain at home?... For pits sake wre is this country heading to? When will all this nonsense end? Madamme ur kids r studying in harvard...... Not all families can afford that. If it is not seen as a priority to invest in our lecturers so that they can put in the best in the future carriers of this country, then id say d future is bleak. O Lord have mercy. I read an article thar says Nigeria earns trillions just from oil and gas in 6 months......n u say there is no money for the lecturers? My heart weeps for Nigeria.....the order of prirority for our nation is a mess.
Shut up Madam Ngozi,How about the money you people steal everyday? When it comes to Education there's never money in this country#Msheeeeeeeeeewww!
PRETTY GIRL
Asuu sef na bastard! Selfish pple full, see as dem dey call 92billion like its small moni.. Cut down on ur demand&let schools resume jor
".....We need to make choices in this country as we are getting to the stage where recurrent expenditures take the bulk of our resources and people get paid but can do no work..." Yes, indeed, madam Minister, we need to make choices. Let's start with the obscene salaries of the senate and house of representatives who collect the highest salary of any legislature in the world and yet rank among the MOST INCOMPETENT and CORRUPT; then we cut off all the personal/special assistants to PAs and SAs, prosecute the REAL CULPRITS that are draining the country dry.....government officials who clearly live waaayyy beyond their means. Its unfortunate that the academia has to bear the brunt of gross mismanagement of our resources. This ASUU_government saga sends a deafening message to the rest of the world how serious we are as a people and what our national priorities are. The lip service needs to stop. No serious society on earth messes with its educational system....except of course, its called Nigeria. smh
The whole idea of this strike surrounds the allowance of lecturers, by the time that aspect is settld that's when they will preach that for the good of their 'children' the strike should be called off.
I dont blame ds "teLetubby" of a woman.her children went to harvard so she can neva know wat it feels like to av young teenagers and undergraduates idle at home.den which money don't we have?abegiiii! even after giving ASUU 92 billion, dere will still be many more billions for her colleagues to loot.I think shez already losing the capacity for ds her job.how won't she?wen any small thin, she don leave office go drain her "brain" Laffing with her felllow teletubby patience in d Villa.Madam,do not lead us astray.judgement awaits u all!
I don't see the need to insult the Minister. Yes she went to Harvard, yes her children schooled abroad, does that mean she should do as ASUU demands because she schooled abroad.
She is doing her job. Part of that job is to manage the economy. She is not responsible for determining the ridiculous salary we pay our leaders, she is not responsible for the thieves in Pension scam because that started a long time ago, she cannot decide what the first lady can or cannot spend et.c She can only work within the space she has, and one of them is to balance the books.
I agree it makes no sense if we spend all our resources on salary and then start to shout no development, no electricity, no jobs et.c
Two options to reduce recurrent expenditure: slash the pay of our leaders or fire a lot of people. There are many teachers/lecturers offering little or no value yet if one embarks on firing them, it ends up as a strike.
If you want bonuses, if you want more investment in education, if you want eligible and well qualified graduates, then GO ON STRIKE TO DEMAND A REDUCTION IN THE PAY OF THE LEGISLATORS....just like we did with fuel subsidy.
Again, we cannot expect any development if we spend everything on paying salaries......
What da Fuck? this woman is shameless, a disgrace to womanhood. What was i expecting anyway? dat she will be different from her colleagues? i must be a learner. Just think about the statement " Nigeria is suffering from the 2010 increase in salary"... i have never heard anything more stupid in my entire life. What is #92 billion compared to what our politicians steal everyday? But you guys can increase ur own salaries and allowances.
Do i blame dis big nosed woman, when her children all studied abroad, still are sef. Are dey not the ones with all the harvard degrees? Dats y she can open her gutter and yarn bullshit while our youths are wasting away @ home.
If not for this strike, that Ify boy that was mobbed in Badagry will still be alive today. FUCK ALL OF YOU JOOR.
Why beef Ngozi and her children for attending Harvard? Is anyone stopping you from attending? Attending Harvard had made her an asset for this country whether you like it or not, go get off your high horses.
Btw, Nigeria's problems did not start yesterday and it won't end in one minute. Stop blaming her for everything.
Hon.pat u are not making sense.
Who be dis na?? Aha aha!!! Pls dont even complicate my brain wif dis jargons...D asuu strike is enof for a suicide mission!!! Mtsheewww!!!
I believe education sector should be considered very important, how can she say there is no fund........O my country Nigeria...I cry for her.
our politicians are busy enjoying those money.....God have mercy on us all.......this is what Greediness can lead to. later banks go say 24years for Graduate trainee....mtchewwwwwwwwww, can't watch.

Honourable sir, you are simply not communicating... Be real and always speak in a language everyone will understand.
'So what is to happen to the students?'Did they even think of that during the meeting?God help us
Its about time to cut down on the expenses for de Executive and Legislative arms of govt.
This woman is not making sense at all.
They should better do something about this dea so called strike. Cos am graduating by oct. Outside that d student are all bored...
I am tired of this yearly rituals of STRIKE all the increments in the past have not yielded any positive results except more strikes and lower standard of education, i feel government should not meet their demands this time
Wow....... It is only in nigeria dat dere won't be fund 4 education bur d ministers nd co earn almost d amount of d fund needed in d education sector..#GodhlpNigeria
like seriously ngozi if ur kids were in UNN u will open ur wide mouth n say ASUU demands are too much for FG, My God will jugde u all, u steal our resources n tush ur kids up n keep other peoples kids out of school.
Fuck our leaders n Linda Berra post mi comment! Mscheee
Bunch of crazy paedophiles! If all the paedophiles and corrupt lecturers are removed from the system, there'd be over 92billion to go round. It just had to take them 4 years and 43days to say this. Fools
ASUU are using students to fight their course!!!!
Unilag please withdraw yourself from asuu! Unilag is known nationwide nd is number 1 in d whole of nigeria.....please withdraw like ilorin!
Mama Harvard family for ur mouth abii
ASUU is Selfish, dey are only after dier interest and nt dat of student. How can u b paid abt 2500 naira on every student u lecture wen some of u only come wit big empty txt books n force it on students witout impacting knowledge? Seeking 4 allowance on Research and Excurstion as if its nt students who pay high amts 2 go on excursion and its even students who carry out most researches. Mtcheeew y'll jst b annoying me

I cant believe Ngozi iweala said dis..no resources to get d money? What of all these people they call PA dat collect fat salaries at the end of every month without doing anything? FG should meet this demand and help this country!
Hehe.. If dey like dey shd increase, if dey don't 4dia pocket! ASUU's being inconsiderate after all!
~D great anonymous!
its not her fault. all he people are harvard material, and she makes that money asuu is asking for in a year. #selfish
Naija i hail thee... omo olope says so
Now we are done for! Time to marry!lol! Linda post my comment now
If people shud really work 4 dia mony, senators shudnt be earnin dat much cos dey just sit 2decide notin.. As 4 lecturers, only 10% of dem are actually hardworking yet d lazy ones amongst dem cry 4 allowances..both ASUU nd FG shud do sometin abt dis wiked act
Na wah o N92bn,make Asuu sef park well,I wonder where all this increment goes to,if FG grant this one, next year they will def go on strike for something else,every1 is just greedy and as national cake sweet,err1 wan chop
I think dis people really think we fools, while they continue to increase their salaries and allowances almost every year, without any kind argument.they continue to tell us the resourses are not there to fund vital sectors of the economy like education and health. Well ngozi we don't need a degree 4rom harvard 2 know dat d reason why recurrent expenditure accounts 4 77percent of d budget is because nigerian public office holders are amongst sum of d highest paid in d world without being necessarily
They shld cut down d allowances of senators nd reps, after all dey jst go 2 d house 2 sleep doin nuffin bt pocket huge sums as allowance.
Our problem is over-dependence on oil money. The real issue is that our goverment lacks the know-how on how to manage an economic as large Nigeria. Let take a simple look at Dubai ( UAE) twenty-something yrs ago, they foresee the future and knew the black gold the arid dry land is enriched with might dry up someday, They came up with a giant plan which no one ever imagined, they to turned the arid dry land to a mega city that will attract millions of poeple to come visit, to shop which apparently will bring earnings ( Foreign Cash if am right) now they channel this earnings to different sectors like education which is the backbone of any intending country that wants to be self sufficient and compete in todays 21st century. Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, first of all lets start by defining Recurrent Expenditure. By my little knowledge of that phase ''Recurrent expenditure is the cost that a Govt/business incurs to ensure efficient and smooth operation of the business right?. It mainly involves paying resources/allowance and bills that will always be there on a monthly basis. Here are the solutions so that ASUU can end the indefinite strike presently consuming students of various institutions in Nigeria. Reduces the expenditure Period.... Channel enough resource to Education. As the coordinating Minister of Finance, Encouarage Government to invest in other sectors of the economy. Transportations, Agriculture, and Health Care. Atleast Taxes as a source of revenue for the govt should be placed on these earnigs yield out, our dear country will forever move forward.FG also need to demonstrate the point by cutting down greatly on the unreasonably jumbo pay to the National Assembly, Federal Executive Council members, Special Advisers and all political officers At it stands right now, 80% of our oil proceeds goes on salaries and allowances of Senators, Ministers and Contractors plying the govt. Sooner or later the govt will say they are broke and can't finance education anylonger, then ASUU will pack and go, then our brothers and sisters will then go and start enrolling in private Universities owned by the top players... Nigeria Educational System is a rollercoaster.
Nigeria is not a productive economy. All the money circulating in Nigeria is oil money. There is no product that leaves the country as to bring in foreign earnings. PHCN, CUSTOM DUTY, all the things you mentioned above are oil money that left Nigeria and is coming back through the borders. For instance, a trader goes to Dubai or China to buy an expensive upholstery and pays heavy custom duty on it at the borders, comes in and sell to an ASUU member who has exploited his student who is an oil worker or whose father is a political appointee. Has this made Nigeria to earn anything? The answer is NO. In this chain, the only person that has earned something is the producer in China or Dubai. But think of it, if a young graduate produces a phone charger and markets it in Togo, Cameroon etc. and while coming into Nigeria he pays duty on the vehicle he bought with the proceeds of his product, then there is earnings outside oil
Aunty ngo,aunty ngo,aunty ngo
How many times did I call u?
FG can't meet with Asuu's demands yet u can meet with harvard uni demands by sending all yur lineage there.
Hide yur mouth for werrin no concern u o
Aunty!aunty!
Signed:cindoodo
These lecturers self, they do sell handout, textbooks nd even collect sorting. 92b is 2 much na they shld go 4 half of dat moni so dat we cn get back 2 school.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala don't have ideal of wat nigerian unversities are cos her parents, herself & her children re all harvard products.so Asuu strike does nt affect her or her family & students can stay @ home as long as it takes.wat is 92b dat nigerian govt can't produce but can pay senators, house of rep even the ministers millions of naria ,dey re d highest paid in d world now dey want 2 bi pensionable.reduce ur salarys & u will pay d 92b demands 2 d lectures fools.
she and her father went to havard. I wonder why we d youths cant embark on a protest for one week like d egyptians dey'd do sometin quickly
U better listen to news and read a lot abt Nigeria universities. ASSU av told us already dat Nigeria student pays N400B a year as sch fees. So wat are u sayin
Ignorant idiot
Na her fault say your papa no send U go Harvard #badbellenogokillyou# ode
Yessssirrrr
So we should sit @ home doing ntin while deir kids are in abroad schooling..issoryt
where does this woman children school cuz im sure you wont find them in any school in naija.pls they should call off strike make better children go school o.
Rubbish,hw much do senators earn nd u are hia saying dat dia z no money. U pple should better collect moni frm dia nd give d lecturers afteral dey are d pple dat made dem wat dey are nonsense
This strike is really silly. our infrastructures re still the same from the time i entered school till now. and they have gone for almost four strikes in the past six years. yes dat is how long i have been in school. cause of assu nd my own university strikes. and am planning my marriage now because after dis year it is going to be seven years. and guess what we where meant to convocate this month
I'm not perplexed@all wen she n her kids studied@harvard so they dnt knw wat dis students are facing right now,,9ja is fcuked I swear!!.
U r on point. This ministers wud promptly approve assuming its their salaries n allowances that needs to b raised....N92billion, haba! How did it amount to dat staggering sum??? Upon d cash d universities generate internally. Lord overhaul this country's administration
Dummies...why can't they collect 10million each from those criminals called senators and complete it!
You know what i honestly cannot blame ASSU for being selfish... this seams to be only avenue they have to cut form the National cake. After hearing about the pension scam, Stock Exchange, Senators exaggerated salaries, not to mention Otedola versus Farruk Lawan; they figure this is the best way to get their own share.
Madam Okonji Iweala is making sense quiet alright but so many lapse here and there, supposing Subsidy Thieves have been apprehended and over bloated Salaries of our Law Makers were checked wont there been enough for the Education Sector. It seems University Teachers are been humiliated and some People interest are been taking care to the deterrent of suffering Nigerians and the Country and it like the game continues without real checks. We need to rise up and call a spade a spade. Legislators Salaries should be reduced drastically and the Institution made a Part time Job and the Subsidy Thieves probed A-Z period and other Fraudulent loop holes plucked.
Assu and fg una papa
ASUU:Association of stupid,useless α̲̅πϑ unstable Old haggard men!!!mtchew
Its unfortunate that some students out of ignorant are condemning a strike that is meant to pressure our CLUELESS LEADERS improve the standard of facilities in our Universities. It is sad that most of these students don't even understand what a University is, when non of our Universities are rated among the first 1000 in the world.
NANS where are you? SNG where are your Voices? NBA, you have become a department in ASO ROCK. NLC, this will not put money in your pockets.
Shame! shame!! Shame!!!
Nigeria is a big JOKE.
May God deliver us from dis selfish leaders.
Am short of words honestly......I've always disliked this Ngozi Okonjo Iweala seriously!! The woman is so annoying + the way and manner she's advising 9ja's president is something to be really worried about!! She's indirectly ruling this country I swear...The standard of Nigeria's education is lower than average and this is because while other countries spend heavily on improving their educational sector, Nigeria budget allocate the least amount of money to Education; how sad!! Nigerians are now running to Ghana to study just imagine, Ghana can now boast of a better quality of education than Nigeria #confirmed with facts#
Money in this country are channeled to unnecessary places,is so annoying watching NTA news and seeing the unnecessary display of wealth and stuffs like that..
Am not surprised at Ngozi's response to ASUU after all,her children all studied abroad!! Still wondering why the president didn't respond to ASUU himself after all he had series of meetings with them personally (No he can't); Nigerian Iron Lady decided to do that for him, am not surprised though, the idea is hers!!
You just spoil this comment with the last word. Its not futures it future. thank me later
Mr president killlllllll corruption and cut down unnecessary expenses like medical treatment for officials abroad, business class and first class travel trips, unnecessary aids d list is long so that there will be money made available for the right reason.even a child at this point will know better than our so called leaders haba
Nd d wworse part is they dnt even knw how 2 play d chess
Thank you for this
Sigh, this is so painful. So students should sit back and keep waiting. Why are this fathers and mothers toying with the lives of other peoples' children. The youths are meant to be the leaders of tomorrow, why won't they help us be great. Why won't the FG reduce the salaries of the executive and legislative members of the Government and invest in our educationnal sector. This government has lost sight of its priorities but we'll sit and watch. Its days are definitely numbered
This bill was signed since 2009. What is the actual budget for education compared to feeding and security. In which security involves buying bullet proof cars and jets.
#fact.
Madam Iweala, lemme ask u one simple question:pls how much is ur monthly salary? Is it not more than enough to pay 10 lecturers? Not to even mention ur personal allowance.let's be fair in dis country, let's practice Justice n equality.most govt workers don't even deserve deir salaries, but we all knw that most lecturers re really trying for us,dey deserve more than wat dey re asking for.
I just hate this woman, she seems to be the president of nigeria.
Ngozi u are a wicked woman and the wicked will die of their wickedness, u did not see government officials that are rendering this country koboless but u will see 92billion that FG has deceived poor lecturers that they will fulfill all the agreements made in the past. tomorrow if u are aspiring to be president u will also promise that u will fulfill all promises made towards education. where are our oil blocks, our oil facilities jointly owned by FG and oil companies, where are the subsidy monies? u are such a wicked woman. we wont blame u, ur salary will pay salaries of at least 50 to 200 lecturers why wont u say such a rubbish. there shall be the day for judgement for all of u.
*cause* not course...u r d reason d strike shld be called off.....OLODO
My primary skol teacher is better dan my so called college teacher.greedy pll

IS ASUU 4 real. Educational system is too corrupt to b demanding such! What are the lecturers impact in youth today. Pls they should look for a bush and go stool biko.
--Teeteelahyo--
But seriously, how do ASUU expect them to mehing them when dey with such amount? the masses are crying foul about politicians pay and still ds lecturers are using them as a standard for dr own salary. after that they will come to class with the notes there father used in teaching them when dy were under graduates too. if they like let them resume or not, they will still be part of the politicians tomorrow causing havoc. as for those accusing OKONJO IWEALA i will say u guys are ignorant fools.
Dis country z 4ked
You don't have a clue what you're saying! She just spoke as a politician and you're totally convinced and flowed with the tide of her lies. For your information, ASUU is fighting for the future of the youths and generations yet unborn; we the current student are paying the price; the price, I am personally willing to pay. When it comes to purchase of official cars for Senators and other political office holders, it's like a ride on a roller coaster and a smooth sailing but when it comes to education, they are lackadaisical; it becomes a rugged, bumpy and hilly road...
lmao' Haba! Habalitically, Hon. pat Asuu problem no be Grammer oh! Hw wish those words exist 4 Dictionary i 4 say Grammer na 4 Dictionary...
My God help our leaders.
Fool! U tink its one person taking it home????

As if dat isn't enof, now dis strike and all u have 2say is "crinkum crankum"! what on earth does dat even mean?! Yerima is there trying 2marry foetus,ur by d side inventing meaningless words.Nigeria needs prayers,u and d likes or u r d number 1 prayer topic!

See her ugly face, mstweeEeeew rubbish, is it ur money? But wen ur mum was kidnap, huge amt came out oh.
Even d so called Asuu officials have no conscience...we embark on strike all the time in the name of developing infrastructures while our school buildings are filled with offices instead of adequate classrooms. Who is deceiving who?

The senators, ministers, and Governors who are adding nothing to the growth of the country are being paid allowances in millions but the lecturers take back seat?
I am tired of no solution to all the problems in Nigeria. We are intelligent people unlike the mumu nation ... but for some reason we seems tired to cause a change. Looters in government, corruption every where, suppression, rich getting richer, same set of politicians in government in the past 40yrs. Which way Nigeria?
Asuu nd FG re f**k
Let pray 4 Nigeria
Let make money togeda people real online biz

Most Nigerians do not know the real truth in ASUU's demands and the Federal Government's present position. ASUU should give details of their demand and Federal Government should also give details of their position. Information at our disposal is very scanty from both sides. Nigerians will be able to make reasonable comments on this strike issue. The job schedule of a lecturer goes beyond giving lectures. Let me say that many lecturers spend their salaries to carry out research, sponsorship for international conferences are scarce and may not be fully sponsored! Some issues must be addressed. These are basic things lecturers must have. Sponsorship to international conferences is compulsory and a lecturer that does not expose himself internationally, at least once in 3 years should actually be querried by the University authorities.
ASUU is the greedy one here. They are using students as bate in their uncontrollable greed. Do not be deceived ASUU isn't fighting for students but their pockets. Senators, legislators, government appointees, governors GOD punish all of you.
A big one my broda.
Mehn!lolest!
Even Patrick O himself will bow at ur grammar!
U are a physco....pat'!
y won't d pig say that?, when all her children are in oversea schooling,if any of her child schools in one of d universities affected she. Wouldn't say such..Foolish woman..May God punish u and ur generations
you are funny
"The country is still suffering from the effect increase salary of 2010" dere useless #18500 minimum wage. Dis woman is sick she dey 4ck up big time suffering my foot wen political office holders are collecting huge amount as allowance and salary. Sister Ngozi y can't u just set aside ur selfish interest here and be real dis Jona guy is killing ur integrity if u don't knw
I have a solution: abolish the Senate, cut down the size of the Federal Government by 75%, clamp down on oil theft, use a real surge to wipe out Boko Haram, kill their sponsors within the political class and the Military (GEJ said they know them), and seize their assets, redirect security funds to development projects, cut the excesses of the Presidency. And there....you will have hundreds of billions to spend on education. Nigerians should note....if we don't provide qualitative academic and entrepreneurial education to those in need of it, the phrase "THERE WAS A COUNTRY" will be Nigeria's fate before 2020, and you don't need rocket science to discern this.
Shut up there @ anon 4.03!! Tarrhh , what do u knw?? Ode, mtweeee. Do u knw hw much this senators earn, do u knw hw much jonathan collects as feeding allowance?? Ur here saying crap, I no blame dis ngozi wey do mouth lyk flat tyre . They should cut down the salaries of all these senators and co, the resources are there, they just dunno how to manage it!!! Fucking retards!!! #spits#
#Tymah#
Thank God d strike didn't affect my skool.duh!!!to FG nd ASUU
No money ehn when u budget N400m for d first lady 2 build so called first lady houses......this is just pathetic
God will kuku bless u ooo!govt primary skool....earsed! Secondary skool....erased! Nw d only ting we can boast abt dt d govt does is nt endangered! If its 2buy private jet n lavish d money! 2 billions won't matter!
U have what I hate in mind. Very bitter government
92 billion too much for ASUU? Dont we know how much Nigeria makes per day from crude oil? So what is the budget allocation for education? These people are not serious at all. They signed d agreements together, if they know they can't fulfil d agreement, then why sign it? Political office holders are all thieves! Their own demands are met within twinkling of an eye, but wen it comes to things that would be beneficial to citizenry, they will start saying rubbish. This woman is a green snake under the green grass.
Who's ds fat fool slf ehn...selfish,wicked entity!
If FG cant pay d said amt, then d executive,d ministers and d legislatures salaries must be slashed down to generate d money.that wl prove a level on willingnss to fulfill agreement by fg
na ogun go kee u 4 dz ur comment, bcos u no pass pume u go private cm dy yarn balls #olodo
All these our political leaders are nnoneetiti(nonentities). They loot our treasure and come over here and buy mansions; there children are in the best and most expensive schools that you can think of. Nonetheless, Jonathan was a lecturer before God butter him bread. When a wound heals, we forget how painful it was on the onset.
I no blame them much. our value system: make money any how, we go bow for you, no matter how u make am. Shame on all of us. Na we all fault.
Ngozi iwula she is nt been sincer 2her self nt 2talk of d nation academic. Our gvt are Lootocracy bo dey pay senators 31m n all allawanance dat coms wit it 4doin notin. Bo dey refuse d NYC comon 35k ey kn wat ey are ooin.
She is talking like a very very reasonable human being, unlike the lecturers on strike. When these lecturers are not on strike, they are busy raping female students, exhorting money from all students and engaging in all sorts of unacceptable practices. I hope Mrs Iweala-Okonjo will stand her ground and refuse to negotiate on pay packages with these lecturers. If the lecturers were striking for improved facilities, I would be more sympathetic but until then, they should queue up like the rest of us
Amen oh
Nigeria will never cease to amaze me*smh*i wonder y dey always see it as a difficult thing wen it comes to education sector.all dem politicians dat re making our education/student tu suffer like dis will perish

They are busy hiding under d cover of amnesty for Boko haram using Billions forming its for d amnesty program wen its all lies. Unfortunatly, dia is ntn we can do but just wish God will send a Angel to come down nd help humanity! And as 4 u pipo Asuu, seriously, try to do wat u have listed in d demands *(if it ever works out). I knw u need good offices but plz d office is nothing if ur student aint con4table learning. It is high time Nigerians stopped comparing university lecturers' salaries with senators' salaries. It is a recurring decimal whenever ASUU strike is discussed.Lecturing job is meant for people who have a deep passion for it.Any lecturer who desires to earn incomes like senators and live big like senators should simply resign his appointment and go and contest for a senatorial seat. Olusola Oso. http://www.olusolaoso.blogspot.com/
Truth is.......
Nigeria is indebted.
Theres no country too big to fall into the pit of economic depression.look at Greece n co.
We spend so much money funding numerous parastals that don't bring in anything.
We are not running a sustainable system.
Are we saving for our future generation?
Time will come when oil will no longer be of value, just like coal.
When u pay these lecturers.doctors will demand.nurses will demand.armed forces.school teachers.there will be inflation.
What do these lecturers teach sef?
Come to class twice a week.teach 4 hours max in a week.
Come anytime they want.
Do business through out the week and tell students to come on Saturday for classes.
They don't even mark their own scripts.
Plssssss.they should chill.blackmailers!
Some of you guys talk as if you knew it all,GEJ has no authority to doze out such amount of money without budget provision by NASS and its approval...ASUU should also learn to hold the vice-chancellors accountable...They are becoming Governors in their own domains..
So wat dis old wintch of a woman is saying is dat we shld remain @home wat kind of country is dis hmmmm.rlly tired of dis strike.am suppose 2 gradgaute dis year after 5years studing law.see me @home reading pappers praying 4 dem 2 call of strike, pls u pple shld let me leave school first aint geting any younger.I will still serve $ go 2 my law school.$ am 21 nw.fuck all our fake leaders including mr president
Greatest naija students it is time to fight 4 ur rite.#a closed mouth is a closed destiny#.Be wise
its unfortunate that the FG is trying to paint ASUU in a bad light. Madam minister is trying to turn the public against ASUU. Lets even assume that the lecturers are asking for such amount, dont they deserve it??
does any of the polticians deserve what they are earning? 92billion which she claimed is the request of the lecturers is just a fraction of what was budgeted to build the VP's lodge, its also a fraction of what was budgeted for feeding, fuelling and general entertainment in ASO rock in a year. I think our politicians are out of touch with reality. they are also ultimately wicked.
Didnt madam minister see the amount that was budgeted for the VP's lodge to compare with what was budgeted as capital expenditure for all federal instituions. 14bn for a single building and 55bn for all federal institutions.
Madam should just be asking for forgiveness from God for making such an insensitive and wicked comment.
ASUU go on joooorrrrr.
