When Rebekka Garvison boarded her flight with a newborn baby from Chicago to Atlanta last week, her fear of being judged became a reality.
Garvison noted how quiet the flight was when she got on. She took her seat next to a couple who did not look happy that her baby Rylee would be sitting with them. Already stressed out from traveling, Rylee started crying immediately.
To avoid any issues, she moved two rows ahead where there were two empty seats instead of one. This way, Garvison would have more room to tend to her baby.

As Rylee continued to cry despite her mother's efforts to calm her, the woman in the seat next to her, Nyfesha Miller, asked if she could try calming the baby.
As soon as Miller held Rylee in her arms, the little one stopped crying. By the time the flight took off, she was sound asleep in the stranger's arms. Miller even carried her off the flight so Gavin could get all of her belongings together. Miller said "it wasn't a problem."

Gavin was so thankful to Miller that she shared her appreciation in a Facebook status. The grateful mother openly told Miller that she will "never understand how happy this act of kindness has made my family. You could have just rolled your eyes and been irritated like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and peace of mind."

Yes there still are good people in the world. I could have helped out too. Life is all about living and giving. There is so much we can give each other, apart form money or material stuff. Everyday people in the western world are so paranoid and into themselves that they are becoming less human and more selfish, helping out and trying to comfort a crying baby is the absolute normal...eyeing a baby cos its crying is what monsters and witches do. In Lagos, we carry school children on our laps in buses so that they can save their transport fare, we help mothers who have several kids to care for in buses and lap them. We play with peoples babies and scold mothers openly if we see any neglect of kids...that is the normal.

ooh this happened to me early this year on my flight from madrid to lagos. an elderly woman helped me with my 1 yr old son, who was restless. i really know how it feels
U obviously have neva been in a plane and seen de looks on pple's faces wen a child cries, and have neva traveled alone with a cranky baby, even by bus sef. Then u wld appreciate what the lady did.
I helped a young woman watch over her 3 month old baby on an 8 hour flight back in April. While on transit waiting for my 7 hour light back o Lagos, I ran into her and her baby agin, but she looked through me and walked past. I waved and said hi, but she gave a cold smile and walked past. I was hurt. Ouch!
