The former Governor of Anambra
State met with some journalists in the state recently where he spoke on various burning national issues. Of note was the alleged mismanagement of Nigeria's economy by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

today. I have been in several
meetings where this woman (Dr.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala) was almost
crying as she explained and pleaded with all and sundry on the
need to save for the rainy day.
She
advised that proceeds from excess
crude sales should be saved in the
Sovereign National Wealth Fund for effective management. I have read newspaper reports that it is ironic that she spoke of a rainy day when it was already pouring. I personally remain indebted to her because it was from her persistent preaching on the need to save in the Sovereign National Wealth Fund that made me incorporate savings in foreign currency – that is why one third of the money we left on leaving office was in foreign
currency, $156 million(N25 billion
at that time).
With interest now it
would be about $170 million and
with the current rate it is almost
N40 billion. My position in all this is that we must cultivate the attitude of saving as a country. Excess crude money should be saved in the Sovereign Wealth Fund. No country will survive without saving for the future. Even in animal kingdom, the ants save for the rainy day. We must save bearing in mind that natural resources that we enjoy today are depleting assets."

In as much as I share your sentiment to some extent, I'm also of the view that after such service to the country, when called to give account, she shouldn't see it at an attack on her person or a witch hunt.
She was the coordinating minister in an administration that saw corruption hit an impunity level. The federal government owing many contractors. So when called to give account, she shouldn't feel worried, unless she has something to hide.

I agree Mr Peter Obi.I'm aware she tried to convince the Former president.
I'm also aware she told several times about le eye balls and her stylish but obvious embezzling and total disregard for processes.
I also heard that the withdrawals she made was against her better judgment.But my grouse with her is that she should have spoken out.She put her personal benefits over her hard earned integrity and the country she came to serve.
In turning a blind eye and defending a corrupt set of people,she lost herself and her respect.

Peter Obi i'm not surprise you are talking like this because the search has not beamed on you yet. How do u reconcile this puzzle: Okonjo-Iweala did her best while serving as minister of finance and co-ordinating minister of our economy yet $2.1b got missing from our Excess Crude Account (ECA) between Nov. 2014 and May 2015. Nobody would have known until the president PMB mentioned it and when called upon to explain, she said the former president unilaterally authorized the withdrawal from ECA. Knowing fully well in her capacity as minister of finance that the Federal Govt alone cannot make withdrawal from that account because the fund therein belongs to the three arms of Govt - Federal, State n Local govt.
our currency went into devaluation twice in close succession leading to hyperinflation n weakening Naira to Dollar. Now a dollar sells for #250.
Under her watch as finance minister, our reserves plummeted greatly and unemployment went sky-rocket.

I agree with Peter Obi. The governors even took the Federal Government to court over this same ECA and they won. I believe the governors and the judiciary is to blame for sipping our hands into what should have been saved for the rainy day.
