Reload Multivitamins & Pharmalliance launch innovative fruits and veggies campaign. Hosts 5000 children

Reload Multivitamins, a leading brand of Multivitamins in the Nigerian market is launching a campaign to teach children the importance of healthy eating. This is borne out of a WHO report that shows a high incidence of micronutrient malnutrition in African Children.

According to the Chief Operating Officer of Pharmacy Plus Ltd, Marketers of the Reload range of multivitamins, Chukwuemeka Obi, he said that it has been observed that even in enlightened communities in Nigeria, there is a high level of micronutrient deficiencies in children.

This is also known as hidden hunger. Children are actually eating and sometimes overeating, but unfortunately they are not eating right. They are eating calorie rich but nutrient empty meals. The consumption of fast foods and quick meals seems to be on the rise and this has also drastically increased the incidence of childhood obesity. “Team Reload” is therefore poised to help reverse this nutritional emergency by hosting a massive health empowerment campaign to celebrate Children’s day.

To achieve this feat, Reload is partnering with Pharmalliance, Africa’s premier Retail Pharmacy Network, to reach 5000 children between the ages of 2-10 years old. Pharmalliance is a network of over 70 retail Pharmacies based majorly in Lagos and Ibadan. This campaign will take place simultaneously in all Pharmalliance member pharmacies between 25th -30th of May, 2016. Activities lined up for the campaign include fun filled Health education sessions, fruity goodie bags, Exciting photo sessions and a lot of amazing gifts for participating children.
Pharm Adeshina Opanubi, Project Catalyst of Pharmalliance says it’s a one of its kind campaign geared towards correcting a long standing public health challenge in Nigeria. He says children visiting the Pharmacies will be getting a large variety of indigenous fresh whole fruits in addition to other gift items at the pharmacies. They would also learn a lot about the importance of fruits and vegetables in their diets. He applauded the managers of the Reload Brand for initiating this campaign and he is confident that the children will use their pester power to drive the entrenchment of this positive habit. To further strengthen the campaign, Pharmalliance is also launching an innovative series of health education videos as part of an integrated campaign to help empower the teeming population of Nigeria on the topic of proper nutrition. The videos would be distributed largely via social media and mobile platforms. He concluded by saying that the messages in the educational videos are short and concise thereby ensuring that the transfer of knowledge is quick and complete.
It is important to note that the Reload Range of Products are about the only multivitamin supplement range in Nigeria that are fortified with blends of fruits and vegetables.
