Easter tragedy: Pregnant woman, seven others die in multiple accident in Ebonyi

A multiple accident that occurred at the Ezzamgbo axis of the ever-busy Abakaliki-Enugu yesterday evening, claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and a man believed to be a professor at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

According to facebook user, Nwaze Francis, the accident was caused by poor visibility arising from the over four-hour heavy down pour in Ebonyi State yesterday.

An eyewitness said that a trailer and a Toyota Camry from opposite directions had a head-on collision resulting in partial blockage of the road. This led to the death of the said professor and his driver on the spot.

While sympathizers were racing to the scene to rescue the survivors, a Hyundai car carrying five passengers rammed into the trailer killing all the occupants.

A young man said to be the professor’s son and a woman survived the accident and are currently receiving medical attention.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety who arrived the scene of the accident immediately blocked the other part of the road and evacuated the dead bodies.

I personally drove past the scene in the first crash seconds after the incidence... No crowd yet... It was a horrible sight as even the airbags didn't save the Cary occupants. Be careful when approaching bends and curves... Drive safely and carefully please! May their souls rest in perfect peace... Still feeling shocked each time I recollect the scene!
