Mahershala Ali is the first ever Muslim actor to win an Oscar

Last night, Mahershala Ali took home the first Oscar of the night, securing the best supporting actor trophy for his role as Juan in Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight" ahead of other actors in the category like  Patel, Jeff Bridges for Hell or High Water and Michael Shannon for Nocturnal Animals.

With his win, Ali becomes the first Muslim actor in history to win an Academy Award. 

Ali, who was born Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore, converted to Islam in 2001 recently revealed some of the discrimination he has experienced since joining the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community...
