You know, I laughed at this at first and then my brain kicked in and I asked myself a few questions: (1) Why exactly was I laughing? (2) Did this guy have anything to do with the way he looks? (3) Why did I think he was too dark? (4) Why did I think that his being too dark was not a very good thing? And then, I read all the seemingly hilarious but actually colorist comments and I realised that your average black person is still labouring under years of negative indoctrination that labels black evil and white good. We, black people, are our own worst enemy. I am sure that if this guy were light skinned, most of the people calling him ugly here would have said that he was good looking. I took another look at him minus the lenses of colorism and the guy actually has rather striking features; he isn't ugly. AND Linda, you have a great platform for influencing public opinion and it is sad that in this case you have misused that platform by promoting colorism and the devaluation of extremely dark skin. So sad.
