please, someone should tell me the nigerian foto is not real...
its a cultural difference.
Public servant ko, public servant ni
It simply means the 9ja elected officers are gods!!!! While the american president is a normal man.
Mscheeeeewwww.....Nigerians just have self esteem issues. Is d Governor more special than d other Nigerian people???? If we see Oyinbo man, we go treat am like semi-god, if we see people in power, we go treat dem like gods....D guy that postratd needs 10 strokes of koboko cz am sure Amosun no old pass am!
Our leaders has succeded in making an average Nigerian to lose their self-esteem.The other way round is the case in the State. In God We Trust
the pics shows that barack knows he is there to serve the pple while govwhoeveriitis feels he is der to be served....d last time i was in england, isaw the mayor of london at the strtford station talking freely with pple nd taking pics...#sosad4nigerians
I hate it so much! Without this people, they are looking down at, They wouldn't be where they are NOW! So need to show some RESPECT!But this is the problem with rich africans, they like to look down on poor. And they like to oppress
Was the Nigerian citizen compelled to prostrate like that? I don't think so
These are pics taken from two different culture. I believe gov. Amosu didnt forced the man to postrate for him rather we tend to give so much respect to our leaders in this part of the world which they dont deserved
Please lets be real. This is Africa and we show respect by prostrating in yorubaland. Also, I'm not sure Amosun forced him to prostrate, he could have done so for reasons best know to him. However, I'm not saying that African leaders are down to heart and not pompous.
just one word "poverty level"
London in ajegunle? Wannabe by force. How you for take know say na london mayor and you no know naija state governor? U wey no get TV for house talkless of cable TV. Abeg, gerrout jor, make better people comment. London kor, for ur mind!
First Picture: Self Confident, free spirited, down to earth Second Picture: Typical nigerian big man, plenty money, huge ego, VERY LOW self-esteem
It really is a CULTURAL difference!
Governor Amosun is very successful at getting it all wrong...smhLinda, if you like don't upload my comment.Omo Baba says so!
Cultural difference my foot!
The American guy has no respect while the 9ja guy has loads of it. lol.
F**k nigeria leader all of them.
In as much as those in power in Naija feel special, it is we the people that give them that feeling. Musicians hail them in their music, we jubilate when they construct roads with our money, we party with them when they dig boreholes and remind us in the pages of newspapers; and ofcourse we do the rent money dance when we see them. If we want things to change we nust stop hailing thieves in Naija, period.
Let's be very constructive, I don't know that the Governor asked that man to go flat like that in an attempt to say Hi, lol. If we the people stop to they worship them and get angry knowing that the retinue of aides they carry around are been paid with our money then we go abuse them instead of idobale wey that gentleman dey do. Do something meaningful with your life, respect hardworking people and stop hailing yahoo yahoo and prostitutes, then we can graduate to the big rogues. Whenever I abuse yahoo yahoo, people say I am beefing and I say ofcourse I am beefing, if you work half as hard as I do then you too will be mad @ all the rogues that occupy our landscape.
Naija! We too overdo. Who sent the ode to prostrate? All na eye service. Yeye dey smell
Power intoxticates the educated illiterate.
9ja weti come be did na.
That's the way yorubas greet o. Why will u be lying down for your fellow human being all in the name of greeting and respecting that person. I tire for una. Culture indeed.(Na my mind I talk o)
so what has the governor done wrong? he's walking along and a man prostrates in front of him. did he ask the man to prostrate? you can even see that he looks embarrased by the man's act. if he's security chases the man away and does not allow the man close to the governor. some people we say again that the is wicked for not allowing common man gets close. now the man gets close and decided to prostrate, the governor again is to blame psheeew
and it seems like, the guy in suit even crossed over the guy!!LMAO..this our culture sef
to be candid , this action has nothing to do with leaders . it has to do with cultural believes.
this actually has to do with cultural believes
How do you compare someone who's working in the White House (which isn't just any position which can be held by anyone, without having to been screened by the secret service) to someone in prison uniform... Have you asked what circumstances led to the prisoner been on the floor... (which to me shows a sign appreciation, so isn't it a question of what did he just do for him...)Nigerian need not be so fast to just jump to conclusion... the same people most of you look at as inspiration end up most of the time been the BIGGEST fake...Obama's person photographer just happens to snapped the picture right?? how do you know it isn't just simple cheap propaganda..... Please....
Everyone just sounds so angry... However if they were in the same position as any of those in power they wouldn't be any better off than the same people they are angry at...... If you are sooooo pro american and western governing, move over there and let's see how far you get from been a toilet cleaner... please people should stop being so angry and get off their lazy asses and especially us youth and do something about the things we all complain about... and hopefully we will do it better for our own children.....
Obama is one of the most humble leaders you will ever see in this world.Humility doesn't do him justice.
it is called culture! that is how you greet in yorubaland but not sure of the age difference. They are both from different cultural background. When am out of the country and meet my parents friends or an older family member regardless of where i meet them i go on my knees half way and if it is comfortable ...to the ground all the way!!!!
Obama is a servant to his nation and Amosun is a Demi god to his people.if you see God wouldn't you bow.
The guy prostrating looks like he has prison clothes on
Different cultures.dnt see anything wrong. In yoruba culture the men prostrate when greeting elders.sign of respect.
forget joor, se na amosun beg am to prostrate ni...mcheew,e no mean anything joor...
That is governor amosun being greeted by a prisoner... Linda pls get your facts right... And before you say must he prostrate,I think the prisoner is in the best position to answer that! And pls post my comment!
is the nigerian picture real
ABSOLUTELY ABSURD... I NEVA EVEN PROSTRATE FOR MY GRANDPAPA LIKE DIS SEF!!! ABSOLUTE B.S.
Cultural difference like someone rightly pointed at..I'm married to a yoruba man so I know what it feels like and I plead anonymousity in saying some of these traditions hold us bound. As a nigerian I would always hv respect 4 my elders but lying flat on dirt 4 a mere governor,I'm tempted to ask what position he'd assume in greeting the President..
I totally disagree wit d person dat says its just a case of cultural difference. Fine, I agree we always prostrastr before elders in naija, esp d yorubas but is dat enough for his bodyguard to step over d man like he a piece of trash? Abegiiiiiii. Dis pple always like to look down on d poor mtcheeeeeeewwwwwwww.
Pass τ̣̣ђё mic..#Long hiss#
Ohnyee says : governor God is watching u via skype o. Issorai. Didnt talking anysontin
its not the Governor's fault nau, did they ask him to prostrate ni? if i see fashola tomorrow and i go on my two knees, its my decision, he wont force me to kneel down....ishhhh
One is an employee (cleaner)getting thumbs up 4 a cool job, while the other one is a prisoner probably prostrating after getting a jail sentence pardon. Observe b4 blabbing
Lack of Education n d height of Ignorance!
This is obviously the scene of a state pardon granted to an ex-convict.He was obviously being thankful.
lol...the body guard "jump am pass"...lmao. stupid african mentality.
The guy in the Nigerian picture looks to me like a prisoner who has just been granted amnesty by the Governor. His reaction is normal within the context of the Yoruba culture. The Governor didn't have to ask for it.
In as much as our political leaders not have the service attitude, its in our culture to greet 1 who is above u like that. And clearly its a prisoner whose been granted pardon showing gratitude. So chill on all the comparisms guys. More over that's the list of our problems with our leaders at present.
The reality is ,WE ARE ALL THE SAME,BUT NOT ALL EQUAL!
See the way Obama took his time and gave the guy attention. Amosum ignored him completely and his orderly almost stepped on him sef. Oshi
GODKNOWS,THE MAN IS APPRECIATIVE WHILST THE GOVERNOR DID NOT NOTICE IT.
It's our culture#Dealwithit#
human respect and dignity. Except the guy offended d gov and is begging for forgiveness,if not, he shouldn't have to do that.
see the assistant that may be a complete insolent dull brain crossing over him. pfft
THE fault is not with the governor,it is with the clown that feels he needs to prostrate to get the governor's attention...its a culture thing...what a shame...
What is the intention of the man prostrating and don't u think it it could be security bridge. The Obama environment is different from Amosun's.
i concur @anony 9:38.
its a clear cultural diff.
But excuse me o! Did he ask d guy to do dat for him? Pls let's be realistic, an average Nigerian is a praise singer. Am sure he too was wondering what the drama is all about. And how are we sure that wasn't stage managed for Obama to make him look like he's down with every1? The Cleaners don't go about while the President of d US walks about! Pls.
Linda, for the first time. I am disappointed at your post. The man Obama greeted is one of the worker working with him.
typical naija poor, illiterate and stupid mentality, lying on the floor for someone you voted in to serve you as a governor. we just don't know our rights, infact we are 'ignorant of our ignorances' and refuse to learn how things should be.
It's not so bad, he should be happy they didn't walk over him
true talk Ennie,i wont be surprised if thats the White House.moreover Obama was virtually working alone,u wouldnt expect him to work on d street of New-york and start greeting every one.
A white Son would exchange handshakes with his father, A cultured yoruba Son Has to prostrate for His own Father. Note the Cultural Difference. We are who we are.....
WoUN:Thot as much am very sure he wass nt forced all na for money.
Well i think the guy in prison uniform was set free by the governor hence, the show of appreciation.
You are refusing to post my comment abi? Una well done! I will repeat my comment - Governor Amosun granted that man (who is in prison uniform) his freedom which is why that man is prostrating in gratitude! But you have compared it with Obama's picture in order to make a false representation! God is watching you in 3D
Linda, I'm afraid you come out so ignorant some times and the level of ignorance by Nigerians is amazing. What's the comparison for? I agree with the person who said if you want to behave like the westerners, pack your bags and go there. You all hate your country but are not ready to do anything to change it. I also agree with the person who said most of those hating Nigeria would not do any better if they were in positions of power. Why does everything non-Nigerian better than Nigerian? It is that ignorant mentality that is keeping us where we are. Please note: CULTURAL DIFFERENCES. And the white or what ever coloured people are not better than us. Yes, and I live abroad.
the guy in question has every reason to prostrate. he has just been granter pardon from prison during a visit by the governor.also culturally we have our way of greeting and showing appreciation in yoruba land.omo naija .
Haba Linda, dont be too hard on the Governor, the man on the ground is a prisoner and probably prostrating flat on the ground to show his extreme gratitude for his release by the governor or something.....
i still love my african culture, its the best, no matter what d picture says, thats respect. the west has no respect, thats y they look at the sky and say God doesnt exist
Respect is a tradition in Africa, this is how to show appreciation in yuroba land.
Yeeaah boris johnson is always everywhere with his unbrushed hair and bicycle .. London is highly developed; physically and mentaly so what do u expect ??
ALL YOU STUPID PEOPLE THAT ARE SAYING 'WHO SENT THE MAN TO PROSTRATE?' OR 'DID THE GOVERNOR ASK THE MAN TO LIE DOWN?" ARE YOU GUYS ALRIGHT IN THE HEAD? SO BEFORE SOMEONE GREETS YOU, DO YOU ASK THE PERSON FOR THEIR GREETING? PLUS ALL OF YOU SAYING CULTURAL DIFFERENCE, THE MAN IS GREETING THE GOVERNOR ACCORDING TO HIS CULTURE SO WHY ARE YOU SURPRISED THAT HE IS LYING DOWN TO GREET THE GOVERNOR?? REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE MAN LAID DOWN OR STOOD ON HIS HEAD TO GREET THE GOVERNOR, HE SHOULD HAVE STILL ACKNOWLEDGED HIM NOT NECESSARILY WITH A HANDSHAKE BUT WITH AT LEAST A NOD AND A SMILE. SIMPLE!
Se na like this he go dey go?
I'm all about respect, but many Nigerian elders abuse their power and position. They see respect as SERVANT, and can do whatever they want. The truth about it, many don't deserve to be respected especially these leaders.Yes, Americans don't respect their elders, but I also like the fact that nobody is above. I can ask my boss questions, if I meet President Obama, he will treat me like a normal citizen. It's all about balance.
...and the bodyguard walks all over the guy. yes, there is cultural difference but this depicts, as one one libers said, "huge ego and low self esteem" on the part of the governor and his entourage. At least acknowledge the guy and tell him to get up before your entourage walks all over him. shame on big time politicians who forget their job is to serve the masses.
Now tel which me...which of us didnt knw dat has been d americans way of life....frm d beginnin they define d fact dat dey came 2 serve...nd we in Nigeria...dis pic u c is it actuali surprisin like ask urself is it....we all knw how our leaders are nd we knw we er yet 2 fil d full force of civilization nd democracy...wen u c tins like dis u bgin 2 say a lot...4 wat,if 2mrw u bcom d gov of ur state wont u do d same tin...unless we er purged off all mediocrity d circle wil remain d same..learn 2 c somtn gud in Naija.,no matr hw little....Vicktoria.
The difference is clear
It's Poverty. It's Poverty. The prostrating guy just dey find way to increase his bread. bUt you see, we didnt just get here.Even within the Yoruba Corpus is a very strong deep hierarchical structure that conveys and appoints position as fiat. So you cant really start analysing this from an American Perspective.Do we start to tab Yoruba Culture. It's culture, poverty, illiteracy and even upbringing. For all you know, Gomina fit lash the guy 2 million dere just like that. And that's the way it goes.It really is so goddamn fucking sad.74
No biggie..we get it when we visit the Island..na culture..
Its all about culture..notice obama was even shaking the dude with his left hand..in most parts in naija its an insult to shake someone with your left hand..
If you're a governor in Nigeria and someone is making a spectacle of himself in front of you, better keep walking. It might be an assassination attempt....you never know.
Abeg no kill me with laff. The guy really deserves 10 strokes
Excuse me!!! All ye sayin "cultural diff",its not just that! Its more dan dat! Wot about askin him 2 rise b4 crossing or takin further steps??? Spare me the cultural jargons abeg!X!
This is sad it's true, but how many people treat people they consider lower than themselves with respect to begin with? I've seen little kids talk down to maids and drivers. How will the governor not be stepping over somebody (who appears to be prostrating by the way - or did they force him to?)
cultural difference, my yansh! some naija leaders r arrogant idiots!
Riiight!!! Hot mess!
EWU!! barack is left-handed.
I've spotted the difference. And so what? As they say - cultural difference, wouldn't read any other meanings related to criticism into it.
well what can we say, Obama is a phenomenal human being.
It is a cultural difference take it or leave it, my husband will prostrate any day anytime for my dad, while my sisters husband will greet my dad d way he knows hw too and dts standing and shakn him as is his culture, pls give it a rest.
Most of u, did not notice that the guy is in a prison uniform. look closely before dropping comments..
Yo guys are you actually kidding me. isnt that how yorubas greet and i'm not even yoruba. y d heck is everybody acting brand new? wt will you call courtseying to the queen, slavery?
