Photos: Truck rams into stores in Mushin, Lagos

A trailer loaded with bags of cement lost control and rammed into shops in Mushin-Olosa this afternoon. The trailer was trying to avoid potholes on the road when it lost control. More photos from the accident after the cut...

Road side shops are prone to this type of accident, maybe barriers should be built where they have shops like these ones, so it can prevent vehicles from ramming into shops or buildings when accidents like this happen. #enoughsaid

We all know the roads are bad,but the way all this cars swerve for little potholes makes me think the drivers play a lot of video games

Thank God that no one died. Since the vehicle was transporting bags of cement, the sooner the driver commenced mixing of the cement, the sooner the builders will be done with the reconstruction of the damaged shops. The shop keepers should hold onto the vehicle and the bags of cement till their shops been repaired.

It is always someone elses fault. If they aren't blaming the roads, they are blaming the law enforcement officials. As if other road users don't ply those roads,

Its never the drivers fault.

D-PinPointer Says: Accidents continue to plague Lagos and other states in Nigeria and we continue to say: thank God o, nobody died. The question is not whether God loves us; the question is: how long will the leaders in Nigeria continue to lack proactive initiatives that would facilitate a safer environment for her citizens? Imagine a governor going to work every day accompanied with an ambulance, whereas, there is no standby ambulance to respond to citizens in times of emergencies.
Just my suggestion: Government should require that every trailer and commercial vehicles change the brakes of their vehicles every year; also, those given contracts to fix the roads must be monitored and checked to ensure a good job. Many Nigerians have met untimely deaths on the roads that are suppose to guarantee a safe journey.

And one idiot is telling me not to call on the government to ban them. I am shouting oooo!! Shouting and begging the government to ban these animals from moving during the day. They will continue to cause harm to innocent people. Ban them now!!!!

Are all these trucks, cars, road worthy? If so do the drivers have licenses. thirdly, are the owners of the trucks being held liable for the the mess their property is creating?
Something has to give. Start persecuting them publicly so others can learn from these catastrophes

The problem is that, this people don't learn how to driver a large size vehicle properly, there are thing u can do with a small size vehicle u can't do with a truck. And the people that approve these truck on the road need to know that I can b their family member of friend that could b involve in this accident, stop taking bribe to allow trucks in bad condition on our roads

until these trailers run to the state governor motorcade before he will ban them from moving within the state during d day time. richlyblessed
