Cameroon bans use of Muslim veil after series of Boko Haram attacks

The governor of far north region of Cameroon, Midjiyawa Bakari has banned the use of Burqa, a face covering apparel worn by Muslim women. The Governor said the ban is as a result of last Sunday's suicide attack carried out by two women wearing Burqa.

Announcing the decision yesterday July 15th, the governor said
“I took this measure because of the security situation prevailing in the region. No one suspected them and that is why we have ordered women to stop wearing veils and the police and military to arrest all women wearing veils,” he said.
Last month, Chad banned the use of full-face Muslim veil throughout the country due to increased female suicide bombing attack.

Things aren't the same now as it used to be in 2010. This is 2015.
Changes take place due to circumstances.
This is a kind of change fostered as a result of suicide bombing.
Thumps up for Cameroonian government for taking necessary steps.

......even the from the eyes of this person wearing the burqa in this picture, you ll know that it's a man!............Nigeria!!!!! Are you people more catholic than the Pope? If hardcore Islamists like Chad and Niger are banning wearing of burqa outside, you people should also ban it. Anybody that wants yo masquerade should do so inside her home, don't come outside and be scaring people with it!........having lived in a Christian dominated state all my life, I remember the first time I went to Lagos, went to Balogun market, mehn!!!! It was a life time experience, I saw 4 black shades moving towards me, I believed that I was hallucinating, I took off and started running back in the bid I collided with a mobile vendor selling, spaghetti, rice and stew......the whole food poured on me, the vendor and innocent passerbys and lo! The 4 shadows came among the onlookers to see the cause of the commotion, that was when I started screaming "see spirits!" and my aunt that came with me in the market now realised the sudden strangeness in my behavior and started. explaining to me that they are Muslim women, supposed to be in the purda!.......but I have been seeing Muslim women all my life, I see them wear hijabs and veil round their heads not a full black regalia literally covering from head to toe with two small eye openings! C'mon that regalia is a huge security risk considering the time that we are in now in the country!

Maybe people should be banned from wearing clothes because they can hide bombs underneath and let everyone go about naked for security purposes. nobody is happy with the way terrorists bombing and we should find objective ways of putting an end to it. May God safe us and bring an end to their insurgence very soon. but governments shouldn't use every little opportunity they have to discriminate against Islam. Are we saying people without veils don't practice suicide bombing effectively? male suicide bombers don't use veil, yet they carry out their atrocious acts. we shouldn't use every little opportunity to ban the doctrines or way of life of people practicing a particular religion. it's discrimination and it's not right.

Don't knw wat Nigeria is waiting. Banned that fucking shit they are wearing on their head

my opinion is that Nigeria should follow suit by banning its use in public places. It is mainly for security of life and property it is not to derail or undermine any religion. Safety is everybody's business.

Nigeria my country are we more religious than these countries, this is one of the measures to curtail this barbaric killings. I believe if Muslims are not in support of boko Haram they will support the banning of this terrorist dressing as other countries facing the terror of boko haram did.

Tumps up to Chad and cameroon for banning the Islamic religious hoods called the Hijab. Nigeria must follow suit if we really want to checkmate further boko haram
bombings by hiding under the Hijab. The different factions of Islam read the Koran in different ways, that is the problem. There appears to be no central body to clarify the rules worldwide. Modern security can use facial recognition by computer cameras, this is enough justification to ban Hijab face coverings. Only thieves cover their faces. If anybody, wants to live in a normal society, then you need to show your face. Just like when you go to Mecca, they won't allow the face veil there either. Eye contact and facial expressions along with general purpose of ID are common sense. But you can wear them at home if you like. And for crying out loud this Hijab is not even mandatory/obligatory in the Koran. Mohammed made his women wear it out of jealousy. He hated his companions from flirting with his women and Muslim men believing Mohammed was the most pious man and must be emulated imposed these full face coverings on their own women.
