4-man child trafficking syndicate arrested in Bayelsa with 36 children

A 4-man child trafficking syndicate allegedly led by a missionary pastor were paraded before newsmen in Bayelsa state today by officials of the state's Department of State Security Service after 36 children (12 boys, 24 girls) drawn from different parts of the country were found illegally in their custody. The children are mostly from Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

They were allegedly taken from their parents in the guise of providing them with better living conditions and education but were turned into domestic workers. They were transported to states like Rivers, Enugu, Edo and Lagos where they serve as housemaids.

The leader of the syndicate who claims to be a missionary pastor denied using the children as domestic workers. He said he collects the children from their parents and hands them over to people who have "christian hearts" and will send them to school.

The only female arrested, Tonbra Alazigha, said she ran a charity organization where she caters for the needs of the children and allegedly sends them to school. Her claim was however refuted by one of the rescued children who said she worked at a farm in Bayelsa
"She tell me say she will put me in school. She register me but I use to go farm. I use to sell water for her. The person that brought me don't know about it" she said
One of the rescued boys confirmed that they worked in farms and sold water for the lady. The 36 children are now in the custody of the Bayelsa state DSS and will be handed over to officials of NAPTIP for further investigations.

Heartless people. And they will never use their own kids to work in farms and sell water. Thank God they've met their waterloo.

CHARADE

“Just deal with it, I’m out of here” he said to her, leaving her office and slamming the door shut.

Tsunade stared at the door for a while, then resumed typing on her computer. She would handle him later.

She had to file her report first, her motto has always been work while you work and play while you play. Or so she'd read on a bumper sticker somewhere. continue reading

Wait ooo! You mean 36 children, that is community be that. God will punish their own children for them.

It is just good to give birth to the number of children you can comfortably cater for. Why giving birth to multiples? at the end you start sharing them like MTN share and sell.

Poverty is a killer disease and only God knows those who re serving him in spirit and in truth. Thank God the children were rescued....

Oh! They should b punished accordingly so dat dis wil serve as deterrent to others.

The pastors and the children are not to be blame rather the parent of these innocent children. Especially my fellow brother from the northern park.Almighty Allah will question them for all their evil act. Take a look at the way fowl fight against hawk or eagle when ever they try to attack their newly hatch chicken, but Hausa people will be looking for some one to carry their children away.Is bad.

It's rather a pity that most pple that are complaining either have house maids or know of folks or friends that have some in their homes. I know a lot of pple around who have engaged in these acts, they say, pay this amount of money, and this agent will bring you a teenage girl or boy from up north or better still from Cotonou or Cameroon.
I keep telling pple its child trafficking, i'll rather do my house chores myself or get the services of a paid matured nanny than delve into this inhumane acts.
I really pray that our govt will really look into this child trafficking thing and do something fast, while we help to assist this govt by reporting those involved or engaging and encouraging this.
