Taking to her Facebook page after the trial, she thanked her friends, family and all who came to the court to show their support...
"Thank you all for you overwhelming support today at the court. So many
people hadn't met me before or seen the level of my injuries and
incapacitation. I pray for full recovery and the ability to walk again.
My DPA family came in their numbers too. God bless you all"
Her lawyer and activist, Emeka Ugwuonye has this to say about the trial:
"First thing this morning, we were at the Magistrate Court, Surulere,
to stand for Ivie Edobor. This is a case which means so much to DPA. It
is a case where we need to take a clear stand to show that we oppose
domestic violence in all its form.
Being a criminal trial, it
was a case where I would play only a marginal role. But I wanted that
marginal role to be definitive in impact. First move: I met with the
Prosecutor to demand that the charge be
amended to attempted murder, instead of assault, that is has been.
Second, I demanded that steps be taken to stop the man from continuing
to threaten Ivie. These two were accomplished. Charges will be amended
and upgrade to attempted murder.
Next: my ultimate objective is to be allowed to take over the
prosecution of the man. I want to conduct the prosecution so that I
ensure he is convicted and sent to jail for life. We are working on
that.
It was nice to see the brave Ivie Edobor in court today.
She is strong in spirit, but obviously in serious pains from the injury
the monster caused her. Initially when the case started, the man was
laughing in the dock. But when he realized what was happening, that he
was about to face serious charge of attempted murder, there was no smile
on his face, but there was a big smile in my heart.
I was
pleased to meet so many wonderful people - lawyers, other professionals
and well-wishers, who came to court to show their solidarity."

If you have been following the story, you would have read where they said the man drove the woman and her three children out of the house because they were all female children. If he cared about his three daughters, he wont have driven them away together with their mother. He then came back after two years without asking how they were feeding or paying school fees and he broke their mother's legs and she was their only source of income. Do you think such children will bother if their dad went to jail?

I am a member of Ivie Imobhio-Edobor’s family, 2nd cousins to be precise. We, Ivie’s family have since known of Ivie’s Psychiatric disorder since she was a teenager. Every single member of our family knows this. Ivie was diagnosed with Münchausen syndrome at a very early age.
Munchausen syndrome is a psychiatric factitious disorder wherein those affected feign disease, illness, or psychological trauma to draw attention, sympathy, or reassurance to themselves. Munchausen syndrome fits within the subclass of factitious disorder with predominantly physical signs and symptoms, but patients also have a history of recurrent hospitalization, travelling, and dramatic, extremely improbable tales of their past experiences.
Ivie was match made with John by both their families and no one informed John’s family of Ivie’s disorder. It has been one problem after another, which I have been personally involved in settling, since the day they got married.
It’s a shame to see John in such a mess when Ivie’s entire family knows of her disorder. I have urged her mother, father, sisters and Aunts to come forward and end this mayhem immediately. I have give them a time frame which if they do not adhere to, I will air the families dirty linen in public.
Ivie Imobhio attended Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma and University of Lagos, Akoka. Both institutions have documentary evidence of her disorder. Staff and ex-students can give accounts of episodes of Ivie’s disorder.
Ivie Edobor has worked for Airtel Nigeria and Stanbic IBTC, and management and staff of both companies have documentary evidence and personal experiences respectively of Ivie’s disorder.
