FG appoints KPMG, PWC to audit NNPC, other revenue generating agencies

The Federal Government has appointed international audit firms, KPMG and PriceWaterhouse Cooper, to conduct comprehensive audit of the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other revenue generating agencies from 2012 to 2015.

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole announced this after the second meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) in Abuja today August 13th.

“The probe will now cover value for expense as the affected agencies will be made to account for things expended on at their correct value. This is about making Nigeria work for the benefit of other Nigerians and we have to bear in mind that governments are not run on the basis of collection of crude oil but government regardless of colour or political affiliation is run on race and so if you have tax generating agencies that are not remitting taxes government cannot run like that" he told state house correspondents

Bro, KPMG and PwC have Nigerian member firms that are operated by Nigerian in Nigeria majorly for Nigerians. Get your facts right.

Unknown said...

Lol I support Buhari....but the same PWC was used by Jonathan's government and accused of being biased in their audit of NNPC during his tenure.

@ed DREAMZ. KPMG and PWC are foreign companies with Nigerian Affiliates. So, in this regard, it is the Nigerian affiliate companies that are getting the audit job.

I have nothing against appointing them as auditors. My only request is that they should be held accountable for the audit work they carry out not like the last NNPC audit job PWC did for the previous administration. That audit was absolute rubbish and i am surprised they got the job a second time. That being said, a more thorough job should be carried out with regards to IFRS.

I hope we will see a better, thorough and more comprehensive job done this time around.

Pardon me, but why is Oshiomole always talking about tax ? Is that the only income earner he knows?
N u don't tax pple that are already impoverished u give them tax breaks lol.
You are only justified to tax the masses when u have a vibrant middle class maybe 60% of the population is under the middle class, not when most pple r earning less than 100k a month,n yet u r still taxing them, especially small business.

Oshiomole go still dey talk when others are talking....this guy na thief o, looting public funds n taxing edo citizens to replace his loot. Someone should petition the presidency pls.

Guy...God punish you and your muthafucking biafra wasteland

I hope they will enlist Nigerians - both experienced and graduates to partake in this.
This will help impart the knowledge and consequently create the industry so that we don't have to ever look outside our own to audit our own.
