Missing youth corper, Ukeoma Aik confirmed dead

He was among the youth corpers killed in Bauchi State during the post-election violence on Sunday night.
This makes me so sad. I can't believe they would do this to innocent people....why?
Ukeoma, rest in peace.

All those barbarians in the north....Oya o, Goodluck, he died for you. Come and do something about the sorry state of Nigeria. The lack of law and order.

You better not leave the country the way you met it. I will start to believe in the change when i see it.

May his soul rest in peace and may his death not be in vain.

I hate Nigeria sometimes.

ANOTHER IGBO MAN, GONE, BECAUSE OF THOSE BLOODY COW-SUCKERS! i swear to God mehn!!! you spend so much time and effort in bringing up your children and educating them so they can be someone in this life, but while serving the country, they are killed in a matter of moments because of bloody illiterates/religious extremists? im sorry, but the corper thing needs to change. many people that school and that are from the south, usually do their youth service in the north, and visa versa. but how many people FROM THE NORTH actually complete school? many Christians are sent to the north all the time for youth service and are being killed because of their religion. i believe these people should be able to at least CHOOSE or be assigned to an area they are familiar with and STOP SENDING THEM TO THE NORTH! MY GOD! its getting sickening. how did we end up in a country with those animals? the Kanuri belong in Chad and the Hausas belong in Niger, DAMN! leave us be!! you dont see us killing all the gatemen and labour works along with the beggars in southern Nigeria, so why cant they let us be?!?!?!
im almost in tears!

ahn ahn!!! What sort of rubbish is that. How long shall we continue to live like this? Why will a young man suffered so much in the higher institution only to die while serving his father land? Why will some people take it as their prerogative to determine the fate of fellow country men? Why will they continue to kill us like 'namma' in the North while we treat them as human being in the south? There are so many questions begging for answers, but.......

May the soul of Aik rest in the bossom of the Lord. May the Almighty God give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

That is Nigeria for you. Nigeria has built structures that allow its youth to become victims of. And the unfortunate thing is that it is the innocent who pay for the wickedness and callousness of those who lead us. Why can't things be done properly in this country; why can't people accept results...must we continue to behave like barbarians in 21st century? Maybe the idiots where trying to replicate the North African uprising which is not the same with whats happening in this country. God help us.

May this brave boy's soul rest in perfect peace and may the good Lord comfort the family and friends he left behind in Jesus name, Amen. As for Buhari and the people that did this, may the good Lord we serve pay them back for what they did in their own coin! I don;t even know what to say to GEJ for not doing anything sooner in the troubled parts of the country. Nigeria owes this boy's family big time!!!!!!! Linda, I think you should champion a petition to GEJ fb page to bring this poor boy's demise to his attention. His family should never have to suffer financially again, they should be heavily compensated bc he was a bright young man that wanted to stand for the truth, unfortunately the beast was not a one man fight and consumed him. My heart really goes out to the family.

They need to be thought a lesson. As for NYSC...it is just a money-making venture that wont be scrapped,rubbish*...there are powers behind it and there are many beneficiaries of its sub-standard provisions despite its robust financing...Corrupt just like any other of its likes. If the President dares scrap it then am sure he'll be stepping on toes, same thing with power if he makes moves to provide uniterrupted power supply, generator and private refinery goons will do anything to stay in business...God will help him to tread wisely

The times for things like NYSC has passed, the aims and objective of the scheme needs to be reappraised to reflect modern times. I dont knw for sure but am willing to bet the laws establishing the NYSC has not been reviewed since establishment!

Just like everything in this country, a temporary initiative turned permanent with no finetuning!

Abeg, Let the Govt stop this death sentence called NYSC, its not worth it, every year our future leaders are being slaughtered.I just hope this is not true. All parents should rise up and reject NYSC.

so corpers were FORCED to partake in this election? SHAME ON THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT! they want to use these corpers like TEST DUMMIES! this is complete and utter bullshit. my question is, when these politician's kids come back from schooling abroad, do they also serve their country, or no? i really wonder. since Buhari's kids are abroad, if they come back, will they be forced to do NYSC? NYSC IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT. its used as free labor for the Nigerian government while giving them only chicken change while many could be looking for jobs and doing other useful things with their lives instead of dying like chickens because of some muslim extremist! GOD, MAY YOUR WRATH BE UPON THEM!

Anonymous said...

what pains me most is that when the militants were agitating for their rights they did not go killing fllow nigerians or the northerners. but when there is a little problem in the north the southerners suffer. this has to stop. youth corpers should come and say to all this and come out in a united forum that they will not partake in the next election until justice is carried out as a mark of respect for those corpers who have lost their lives.

Aik , thank God, was a committed christian. He was an assistant house fellowship leader in House On The Rock church in the Ojuelegba centre of the fellowship known as CITH-Church In The Home. When members of his fellowship called him, he said that he and his colleagues were running to the police station, but that the rioters, who were also shooting, were threatening to burn down the police station!

They kept on trying his phone after that, but could not get through. When they did get through eventually, a hausa fanatic picked, and after raining curses in Hausa, stated that the owner of that phone was now dead! I have this info first hand from a lady whom he was the best man for her husband at her wedding early last year-we happen to be in the same dept.in HOTR and i was at that wedding.

I know that his death will not be in vain because there is a God in Heaven-only that He allows certain evil things to happen that one cannot fathom. The unfairness of the whole thing is appalling-the savagery! His murderers MUST face a fate worst then he did!

Pls take immediate measures and be safe. Forward to family and friends.”

Pls can someone assist to verify its authenticity to avoid panic?

The best thing is for every southerner to leave the North and go back home, must they stay in the North? It has always been killing every time, these guys will stop at nothing to kill just for the fun of it, even when nobody looks for their trouble, as per NYSC, it should be scrapped.I served in Maiduguri,They accomodated me well, I was persuaded to stay because they needed a female health worker with many attractive offers,I did not stay,Cos I know when they start killing they will not spare anybody no matter what, these people behaved so nicely to me I got lots of gifts from them both men and women that you will doubt they can ever harm you. That whole year I lived in fear for my life,I prayed like never b4 and left immediately without telling my neigbours,we shouldnt be made to live like that cos life is too short.Nigerians.....Join hands and voices and ask for the scrapping of the NYSC.

I blame the president more. So he suspended the interior minister? Is that all he could do? Nigerians, after all these years of suffering, do we still need a president who reacts?
He should have made measures to increase security in the north due to its volatile nature. He simply didn't foresee it. Is this the first time we would be having crisis in the north? Why would a man use young people to get him into power without making sure that they are well protected? Doesn't this show a trait of use, abuse and dump? And yet we elected him into power.
A good president would have protected the corpers, we all know the lack of protection they had even here in the south west. They were very prone to attacks and victimization by any crowd that suddenly becomes angry and unruly.
The northerners have always been unruly and terrorist in nature. Shouldn't he have anticipated their reaction by taking extra security measures post election in the north? Don't we have the resources? I'm tired of making excuses for people! We have come a long way suffering for us to keep doing that! Too many lives have been lost, and all for nothing!
The president is starting out on a very long list of demerit on my watch, and I am quite skeptical about his presidency. Does he have what it takes to really move Nigeria forward?
Can he handle our very own internal terrorism? Didn't something similar happen during last christmas celebrations? With repetitions on new year and some following days? And pre-elections and now post elections? Does this man know what he is doing?
Are our children safe in his leadership?
Is our collective future as a nation safe in his leadership?
And then he comes on air and begins to liken the riots to the civil war? Why oh why must he make fresh old and forgotten wounds? Is he trying to incite retaliations from the south-south and south-east? Does this man know what he is doing? All I heard all day on bbc was how wrong such a statement was and its likely repercussions by analysts.
The president has a lot of convincing to do in my case. God, here is a man wasted just like that.

I further learned that Aik was killed inside the police station where he sought refuge. So, it's either the police gave him up, or the barbaric mobsters overpowered the police.
Another angle to it, deducing from his last face book comment, is that, he could have been marked for elimination right from the day of the election. In his post, he thanked God for barely escaping death, and alleged that the CPC forced underage voters on him. When he refused to play ball, they almost killed him that day.

Which ever way, nothing justifies this barbarism! I am a parent, but my kids are still young. If this NYSC waste of time is not scrapped b4 they are grown enough to serve and some mad man or woman makes the mistake of posting any one of thhem to the North, sorry! They ain't going nowhere. One's destiny and success is not tied to the NYSC scheme! It has become redundant!

This young man's life was needlessly cut short- his killers must be brought to justice by all means possible. Why do northern muslims like to kill? Are their own lives so worthless? I did not know this young man personally, but it pains me to know that he lost his precious life for nothing; and at the hands of people that embrace violence, reject progress, hated education, and persist in ignorance and stupidity.

My fellow southerners, the Igbos were on to something when they made an attempt to form Biafra. They new then that if the northerners were left to rule Nigeria, it would be a disaster. History has proven the Igbos right. Under the control of the northerners, Nigeria has turned into a lawless, corrupt, under-developed hell hole, where the average person exists on a dollar a day and corruption has permeated all aspects of Nigerian society in the north and the south. The only people that seem to enjoy life in Nigeria are politicians who are using public funds to finance their life style.

Like one poster stated, Goodluck Johnathan better not leave Nigeria in the same state that he found it. A lot is expected of him and from him especially when the likes of Ukeoma Aik lost their life in this election process.

With that said, to the parents of Ukeoma Aik... ndo.

My friend's younger brother (a corper) was also in Bauchi when the Violence started,he told me that the CPC supporters told him to give them the remaining ballot papers to thumb print at first,he rejected, and one of them brought out the DAGA,aka knife and showed to him that,if he did not dance along with them, they will sue it on him.He told the security man that was him and the security man told him to use his number 6,he said he had allowed them and they all went away, despite that, they said it in their language that he is doing the job that they are suppose to do,and he underatands their language a little, all these made him to pack his bags on sunday night and ran back home.while he was telling us his ordeal,he received a call that Ukeoma Aik is dead,he broker into tears and said, that could have been him or just any corper in Bauchi.

I have told him to forget about going back to Bauchi till the end of his youth service because, the hausas are very very dangerous,if any little thing should happen there again, they will strike again.

He told me that about 15 corpers have died now,

May God in His infinite mercies forgive the departed souls, their sins and place them in paradise.

Ameen.

Hmmn, my heart bleeds at this news. Its so sad. Is this the first of its kind? NO. Will it be the last? I wish to God that this was the case, but I'm afraid it looks like a NO. Nigeria, for how long must we continue like this? Its not just the corpers who get killed. Others who are rightfully trying to earn a living in the North get killed too. I agree Mr President has a lot of work to do. Nigerians it is our job to force him to do it, if he chooses not to. We have the power and we must use it. I'm afraid we can't look away again. No not this time. It is not enough to pray that Aik's soul rest in peace. Is Aik's life and that of many others worth a price for Nigeria to emerge stronger? We must honor their memory by ensuring the answer to the question is yes.

When will all these end? My heart goes out to his family members
May his soul rest in peace

If we can all come together on linda's blog, facebook and co, later with we enough people we can stage a peaceful protest in which ever country we reside. I live in the in the UK. This is the only way we can stop this barbaric killing of our fellow bros and sis back home. So many things are wrong at the mo, the only way we can bring about the change the country is crying is through peaceful protest.

if you are as horrified and as concerned as I am about this barbaric murder, please go to Nigeria Village Square and sign the online petition: Petition for the immediate withdrawal of Youth Corps members from trouble-prone States

I weep profusely for this young man, I.K and others who died to mindless illiterate northerners.
I commensurate with your family and pray for the repose of your own soul.
The north is an atomic bomb waiting to explode. When it does, it will consume them there, not Igbos nor other hapless Christians. But they should know, they fight with bows and arrows but it can be more dangerous when from in the east here we think of retaliation; not even that religion of theirs will save them.

this is very sad. How can anyone now say that he wants to serve his father land. I think risking the lives of our youths is not worth it. If NYSC must continue, let people be posted to their state of origin. The objective of using the NYSC to imbibe unity has never worked.

I remember in 1999 my service year, I was posted to Kano state and my Mom started weeping. She wept because of her memory as a child living in Kafanchan with her parents and sibling in the sixties. But for the fact that her family was well integrated into the community such that they were warned to leave the city before Ibos were massacred they would have died. An Hausa family friend warned them of the impending attack and they left a night before it happens. Ths memory has stayed with her for life. Luckily, I was able to change my service post to Lagos State.

Is so painful that innocent lives are being wasted in the Northern Nigeria, a lot have meet their unexpected end this way. If the country can not put a stop to this killing on innocent souls, then there is urgent need for every one to retire to his home and region. As for me, NYSC should be replaced with industrial internship/Post study trainings.

The islamic spirit is the 666 spirit, once it possesses you you begin to act like the muslims, thirsty for blood, vengeance, and eliminating the infidels...it is an evil vile spirit symbolized by the crescent moon..the demonic islamic spirit has no conscience, and craves total destruction...the southerners need to be prepared for battle, and hold steadfast to JESUS, and pray without ceasing...

Hi, Linda,

This is going to be a rather long post as i got the authentic story of Aik's last moments and his fellow corpers from an eye witness report. His real name is being shielded to protect him as they were warned not to say what actually happened in Bauchi. Female corpers were raped! I leave the rest to you-but this should get to the papers!!!

This is the story as told by a fellow corper who was with him. Very gruesome indeed! My contact sent this to me:

Monday, April 25, 2011 7:29 PM
Gud evening ma,
My husband just came back from the meeting and he has briefed me what really happened since there was a witness who was with Aik. This thing is really worse than we think.
The witness' name is Jones*. He was in the same local govt with Aik. They both attended the same fellowship. According to the guy, on the friday before the presidential elections, the people were told on their BBC hausa news station that it must be Buhari. The Emir of the place they were told them at their prayer that they should make sure it is Buhari. Whatever comes as a hindrance must be eliminated. The governor also told them the same thing. The corpers also were told that they must make sure the votes were for Buhari alone.
*Jones was invited by Aik to his own lodge so they spent their friday together. On the day of the election, they all went to their polling booths. *Jones said the people coming for acreditation in his own booth were children between the ages 10-14yrs. He wanted to object, but he was threatened. When it the time for voting came, another set of children came.this time, they were as little as 6yrs. He allowed them to vote also and then gave them the remaining ballot paper. When it was time to write the results on the sheets, they told him the figure they wanted him to write. They even told him to write the figure on the other sheets he was supposed to write on only when he got to the local govt. They followed him to the local govt to submit the result so he doesnt report or do anything. On his way back,he met Aik going to submit his & he was followd by multitude of people. He asked Aik why he was been followed & Aik said he didnt agree to do all they wanted.

The policeman helped him against them. After submittin, they went home together.
Sunday, they both went to church & back. *Jones' friends in his lodge called him to come back so they could chat so he left Aik. By then, they heard that some of the natives were throwing stones at some corpers. They didnt think much about it. On monday early in d morning, they woke up with shouts. The mob had started to attack all the corpers lodge. A hausa corper took *Jones & 20 others & whisked them to his house where they took refuge. Aik wasnt fortunate. They attacked their lodge. Aik & 5 others ran out. That was when he made the first call to Lagos. When they chased them to the police station, the policemen there were only 4. The policemen started throwing teragas which the mob threw back at them. They later shot 15 bullets into the air & they ran out of bullets. These policemen were hausa's so they didnt want to shoot their own. the mob were about 200 carrying dagger, cutlasses & matchets. They started burning the cars parked in front of the station tellin the police to give them the corpers or they'll burn the station. This was wen Aik made his second call. Then they started throwing the fire into the station. By then, Aik & d other guys couldnt breathe cos of the smoke so they started running out.

Some of the policemen around were southern police men. The mob also killed them. Aik ran out of the police station & made his last call that he was between life & death & that shops & houses around there had been razed down with fire. When Ifeanyi tried calling Aik back, the hausa guy picked it & said ''damburuba'' or so- he abused him. He said beneath the man's voice, he could hear someone sobbing as if he was dying. Aik was butchered with the others.
*Jones brought with him, the pics of Aik's body & the others who were butchered. Their fellowship leader was chased into the bush by the mob & butchered too. Another corper ran for his life but when he saw that he couldnt make it, he jumped into someone's well. The owner was a learned man. When the mob started throwing stones at the corper in the well, the man begged them to stop so they told him to give them the corper. He had to. So they brought him out & did the same thing again.
*Jones said the SSS came on tuesday to pick them to the barracks. He came back yesterday. Followed the bus that Delta state sent to pick up their indigenes. He was dropped at Abuja from there he boarded a bus to lagos. He said so far in their local govt, 7 corpers & others were killed.
NYSC has their bodies. They are refusing to give their bodies saying they want to do mass burial.

The time has come when we all have to stand our ground and say no to all these killings. I would advocate for an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. We have been bullied enough, and it is time to let the powers that be in the Northern part of this country know that, silent does not mean weakness. We will payback very soon. Very soon...

Prayer for Good luck Jonathan from Psalm 72 Psalm Of Solomon.
1 Endow the President Goodluck Jonathan with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
2 May he judge your people in righteousness,
   your afflicted ones with justice.
3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 May he defend the afflicted among the people
   and save the children of the needy;
   may he crush the oppressor.
5 May he endure as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.
6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
   like showers watering the earth.
7 In his days may the righteous flourish
and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.
8 May he rule from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 May the desert tribes bow before him
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores
   bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba and Seba
   present him gifts.
11 May all kings bow down to him
   and all nations serve him.
12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.
 15 Long may he live!
May gold from Sheba be given him.
May people ever pray for him
and bless him all day long.
16 May grain abound throughout the land;
on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops flourish like Lebanon
and thrive like the grass of the field.
17 May his name endure forever;
may it continue as long as the sun.
Then all nations will be blessed through him,
and they will call him blessed.
18 Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel,
   who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
            Amen and Amen.
20 This concludes the prayers of the children of God in Nigeria

NYSC should be scrapped or at the very least completely reviewed, join the Facebook page dedicated to this cause, and spread the word in all online communities, (a full fledged website is in progress and should be ready in a week or two), Let your voice be heard, Like the people of Egypt, let us gather our numbers in online communities , then when the numbers become large enough , physical peaceful protests can commence even bills can be presented to the incoming National assembly,

Allowing to Thomas Tull, chairwoman and Chief executive officer

The trailer offers the very first look at Paul Bettany's The Vision, as his piercing blue mechanical eyes stare down the lens of the camera at the very end. The lovely princess is the most breathtaking beauty you have ever seen.

A mock "cautionary tale" of drugs, death, and fame, PERMANENT OBSCURITY
is a warped and funny novel in many ways. Jamie
Dornan and Dakota Johnson seem to be great fit for these
important movie roles, and despite the doubters, there is no doubt that 'Fifty Shades of Grey' will be a smash box office hit when it finally arrives.
Comment: This film might be the best mainstream movie ever
produced that highlights a "BDSM" (Bondage - Domination - Submission - Masochism) influenced 'dominant-submissive' type relationship between a man and a woman.

Alan Roger Currie is the author of a number of books, including Mode One:
Let the Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking and Oooooh.
All that transpired in the poem was recorded during the hey days of the industrial revolution that swept across Europe and the rest of the world.
The book was an international phenomenon, but the movie trailer does not provoke any degree of intrigue or curiosity at all.
