SAN Femi Falana says the person behind quit notice given to Igbos lives in Lagos

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana who is the legal adviser to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Thursday revealed that the person behind the quit notice given to the Igbos in 19 states in the Northern part of the country, does not even live in the north. Falana revealed that the person actually lives in Lagos.
Speaking at a media briefing organized by the NLC on the current agitations by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and the quit notice given to the Igbos to vacate the 19 states of the north before 1st October by 16 northern youth groups, Falana said the ultimatum had the backing of Prof. Abdullahi.
Prof. Ango Abdullahi was a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, who made some inciteful untternaces during Gen. Ibrahim Babangida's regime over the brutal killings of four ABU students, which led to disruptive protests by the students of the school.
Falana said Proof Abdullahi's utterances sparked off the nationwide students protest. He said, “The recently concluded election in the UK, two weeks ago, seven Nigerians emerged as Legislators, can we repeat that, can we look at the challenges before us and stop following those ones trying to divide us?
“This information is very crucial to all of us and I want to say this publicly. The man who is giving quit notice (to the Igbos to leave north) does not live in the North, he lives in Lagos, he is a Lagos man. So to stay in Lagos and be giving quit notices is not the answer.
“On May 23, 1986, young people, four of them were killed in the Ahmadu Bello University because somebody had said we are against coup… Ango Abdullahi was the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University when these students were killed by the Police, he came out and said only four students were killed.
“That angered Nigerians particularly the Nigerian students and there were protests. One of the universities where that protest was very successful was the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Please listen to me, the man who led the protest was late Chima Ubani, what happened? The state did not like the case that it was a national protest against the killing in ABU.
“What did they do? They didn’t arrest the students who were protesting in the North. They didn’t arrest the students who were protesting in the West, (Ibrahim) Babangida regime went for Chima Ubani and arraigned him and eight of his colleagues under a military rule that required that they be sentenced to death. “I left Lagos to go to Enugu to defend those men. We got them freed when they returned to campus, the Vice Chancellor expelled them. Again, I went to court and got them freed. Please this story is very important. “
A Hausa Vice Chancellor invited the police and they killed young Hausa students, four of them. Nigerian students protested and an Igbo young man led that protest in the East against injustice, a Yoruba man in the West to free them. So we must look at those things that the elites are using to divide our people. Injustice is injustice, so there no nation without challenges.”

God bless you oga Femi Falana. You will live long. Those who are blind to the injustice of ndigbo will all be served justice by the divine authirity. The xenophobic Ango abdullahi believes the northerners own Nigeria that is why he can live in Lagos, another man's land and issue order to another tribe to vacate the North.

Welldone Sir on this. Then also in full fledged crime, while we condemn crimes, sometimes some criminals are even treated as sacred because of their ethnicity.

They want military regime to return because Buhari is now a weaker link.

He wasn't referring to Ango Abdullahi as the man who lives in Lagos, only that Ango Abdullahi supports the person.

The problem here is that those that they are using can never read or come across this great article. Those that are misleading and using them will read it. Know the truth and conceal it from them.
God bless u SAN Falana

Femi Falana is a sage. A legal icon and a human right activist. In my position, a sound mind like this is supposed to rule Nigeria but unfortunately only the selfish, ethnocentric and religious bigots have always had the rare privilege thereby enslaving us all the more since the time of Independence until now. When I see men like this, I feel the orgasm to stay a Nigerian than to follow my dear brothers in pursuing our collective destinies.

For the first time I agree with this Femi Falana of a man. I can't forget still he is one of those that put Nigeria under this backward leadership under the worst of the Fulani Hausa men Buhari. If he knew all what he wrote why then did Femi Falana not resist when Tinubu was herded a good section of the Yoruba populace into voting this evil government into power. All the lies agains the former administration are being exposed day after day. Not one of the accusations by this evil administration against the former administration has proved to be true. We were really deceived by Tinubu and this Femi Falana of a man.

Have you seen that the Igbos are the sacrificial LAMB. Each time there's any ugly challenge in Nigeria the Igbos will bear the brunt and suffer it terribly. Igbo coppers were behead in the North. Pregnant Igbo woman was diseted and the embryo used for mokery. All these happened in the North yet we claim to be one Nigeria. It's high time we tell our selves the truth there's nothing like one Nigeria because the Igbos are highly marginalized in all its ramification.

History is very good. This is my first time of hearing this story & it saddens my heart. Why does the north think they own Nigeria? Had it been they have oil I would have said maybe that's why. In education they are lagging behind, in industrial strides only a minute number. Why? Why? Why?

THIS STATEMENT BY FEMI FALANA SHOULD BE POSTED AND REPOSTED OVER AND OVER. IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE AND ITS DEEP.

Igbo an Yoruba, our destinies are intertwined not only by geography but by a common desire for progress. Let's emphasise our strengths and complement our weaknesses.

Your low level of intelligence amazes me...
What's so difficult too understand in this clear write up that your bring in tribal sentiment??

Anonymous said...

How come nobody is calling this man an Afonja and saying Yorubas sold out on the Igbos and will always sell out. Fela, Soyinka, Akintola, Gani Fawehinmi, Fani-Kayode and so many more including me whose best friends are Igbos and many Yorubas uncountable have always spoken on the side of fairness and have stood shoulders to shoulder with Igbos at various times in our history even when like the above we Yorubas have a soft landing. So can we stop this tribalism and celebrate our strengths? Thank you.
