Kashamu was arrested, tried in UK court - Nigerian Police

Read the press statement from The Force Headquarters below...
The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a publication on page 4 of the Leadership Newspaper of June 18, 2015, concerning the extradition battles of Prince Buruji Kashamu with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
For the records, the chambers of TRLP Law, acting on behalf of Prince Buruji Kashamu, had on 14th April, 2015 written the Nigeria Police Force concerning the status of Prince Kashamu’s legal battles in the United Kingdom and United States, following which the Nigeria Police sought relevant clarifications from the British High Commission.
The authority of the British High Commission confirmed on 27th April, 2015, through a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, that Prince Buruji Kashamu was indeed arrested and tried in the United Kingdom criminal court, but that the court was not satisfied that Prince Kashamu had a case to answer.
However, for the avoidance of doubt, the British High Commission letter in question did not derogate from the extradition request by the US authority pending with relevant departments and agencies of government in Nigeria.

If the courts determined he had no case to answer then there was no trial.

I don't know why they are talking all this nonsense. He is wanted by the US, not the UK. Whatever happened to him in the UK is not the problem of the US. Let him go and answer his case. If I were wanted anywhere for questioning, I would go clear my name. Simple.

The guy is a criminal that's enough not to allow him run for any position... he should go clear his name if he is innocent...

He sure doesn't look innocent

I don't even know why this should be relevant, why someone that once had criminal charges should be in our government...but, we are in Nigeria and anything happens. Shitty government.

Read before u write.. If u really won't bother then why comment ? Is it a must ?? Just don't get it..d headline is always confusing on LIB in most cases..u can't get it that the British court don't feel Prince has a case to answer....

Nigerians need to rid themselves of this lingering slave-master relationship and become more nationalistic. Why should we even contemplate extraditing a Nigerian citizen to the US for trial? The United States will never extradite it's citizen to any other country to be tried. Look at the recent case involving Sepp Blatter of FIFA, the US wants him to be shipped to them for trial but the Swiss Attorney General unequivocally said no because America will never do the same. That is how nations with good and nationalistic leaders act. We should learn.

Meaning he still has a case to answer right?
