Check out the condition of an Estate in Lekki after heavy downpour

Wow! This is Friend's Colony Estate in Lekki, Lagos after heavy rainfall. Residents say water is even entering some houses! They say the problem is the canal built at the back of the estate which is now blocked and is preventing the rain water to flow out of the estate...

Yes dats wat I am watching on Nta now they are discussing about flood and mitigation, but on a serious note Nigerians dump refuse inside the canals, roads and gutters so all these our nasty attitude contributes to the flooding bcos the blockage is much

Anonymous said...

Abeg for now oshodi pay me pas all dos area, better make I choose ikeja instead of all dos lekki area because me dey fear water well well

The same Lekki they want us to come and buy their multimillion dollar properties in. Smart people don't buy homes in known flood zones. All that shit swimming around in your house, nope I ain't here for it.

Choi! See big man wahala o! It is well with us for dis year raining season. Linda take note!

Okiie, notice to all LIBERs. Didn't want to do dis before but I gex I just have to do it as a disclaimer. One idiot on dis blog stole my identity, my name & signage. Too bad.

Linda, this is a big fat lie, no resident will say such and there's no canal behind anywhere. The water you see on the street after a heavy downpour has where it flows out to and no matter how heavy the downpour of rain is it will never enter any of the houses. Visit the estate to get your fact right pls!!!!!!!

Hmmm to think of how luxurious these houses are.... yanga dey hurt

Sylvonce said...

Lekki roads are so not it during d rainy periods. They are busy waiting for Lagos State govt when they can actually start an alleviation process to minimise the effects. Change starts wiv u!

Anonymous said...

I live in this estate and the water always drains out 5 mins after the rain stops. It cannot enter the houses because the entrance is elevated, there are steps leading to the front door.

ary said...

If you have a boat, now it time to bring it out!

Anonymous said...

The rich also cry ... Una pele

Mr. Stretch said...

The issue is that Lekki is built on water. That is land claimed from water. So even with the canal, when it gets full, water reclaims it's territory till the water level reduces. It wasn't properly planned. Big man/woman, big problem!

Anonymous said...

Same difference.Houses there are minimum 65million per unit.its not about a canal.Lagos is a flood prone area and the island in general is worse hit because we keep sand filling and trying to push the water back forgetting that water can't be contained.
I really pity us.hopefully Lagos won't go in the way of all those Asian countries

Unknown said...

Swimming things....

Anonymous said...

Jesus.you are such a liar!!!they have light 24/7.
Its why its expensive.the estate has round the clock power supply at a premium ofcos.

Juleslouis said...

Ha! This one na canoe things o. Sometimes i just feel scared for those living in sand filled area of lagos. Tsunami is real! Thank God we don't experience such in this coountry sha.

Wow..... Just wow

Where's the Oba of Lagos? Railway Akiolu, where are you? He needs to go swimming in the filthy flood, where he and his tribalistic and Islamic and Boko Haram APC belongs.

People are asking for the identities of the sponsors of Boko Haram. APC leaders are the sponsors of Boko Haram, and thats why you have not heard Buhari investing them or taking any action against his Boko Haram tribesmen.

Muhammadu Buhari is two-faced and a hypocrite. He knows the sponsors of Boko Haram. Boko Haram worked for Buhari. Boko Haram help to put Buhari in Aso Rock. That is why Buhari and his people are calling for forgiveness for Boko Haram.

Do not be surprised if Muhammadu Buhari appoints Abubakar Shekau as the Minister of Defence, or the Attorney General, or Buhari's personal religious adviser.

It won't dnt worry. In fact it had better not cos it wnt be funny. Dunno why we can't do smething and do it well in this country. No earthquakes, no typhoons, no cyclones. Oya build correct drainage systems so at least God given rain water will flow out, it's either the govt will build and not build it well or we'll block d ones they built.

Poor drainage system tho #onelovefromsnow#

Stop hating, if Agungi is not in Lekki, where is VGC. Mumu. VGC is even worse, your generations can not afford to rent a BQ in this estate. . This is one of the best estates in Lagos, with 24 hrs light, this water will disappear in an hour. This ain't new Linda.

Unknown said...

Water will soon claim lekki..the day that water go vex erhn..i wnt say nything

Amy said...

Boat cruising. Hehe. God bless my estate. As the rain ends so does everywhere dry up. No sign of any heavy downpour. The gutters are wide enough to accommodate the water flow. Lekki una sorry oh.

Anonymous said...

Annon 10:14. There is a big difference between lekki and agungi, minimum for houses in lekki is about 140m.

Anonymous said...

It's called flash floods.

Anonymous said...

Nonsense. Estate developers be putting up houses without good drainage system. This water is supposed to be flowing as the rain is falling. Very soon all them houses will start sinking gradually. This looks like Argungi. This kinda of flood is not good for the foundations.

Unknown said...

U talk like a moron

people like u are usually dumb in school and after, showcasing / parading your dumbness ignorantly.

Anonymous said...

It's slum! Don't bother to thank me.

Anonymous said...

11:23,minimum for houses in lekki isn't 140m.Except if built on a plot which can actually build two houses conveniently.some even use it to build 4 units.

We live in phase 1,off admiralty in a five bedroom (3 rooms ensuite),bq,2 living rooms in phase 1 and we bought at half of what you are claiming.

Friends colony has 24/7 power supply and security and the price I earlier named is for those that bought into it early.its presently selling for more,I don't have the exact price.Agungi IS in lekki.Lekki phase 2.

Lekki 1 ends at the third round about. Please verify before mouthing off.

Anonymous said...

@mirian u are the one that is talking like moron. He is absolute correct.it takes an hours for the flood to drain out. Pls confirm, the management of the estate always render 24hrs light to all their residents what a country can't give to us. By the way, the flood is cause by the state Government awarding a contract to a Local contractor that doesn't have experience in construction. Pls visit the estate and confirm by yourself.

Unknown said...

Water is a very powerful force, u can't just encroach on its territories like that without serious repercussions. U come sand fill and start putting up structures and think it will just leave u alone like rhat . it will surely fight back to reclaim what was taken from it.

Anonymous said...

Crazy and their rent is 4.5m annually. With all their rip off, they don't have a good drainage system shame...!

Anonymous said...

Rubbish talk you don't stay in lekki phsse 1. Call the number on houses for sale.

Anonymous said...

There is a canal on Ajiran road so please get your facts right! Yes the estate provides light 24/7, I know because I live there!

Anonymous said...

Nigerians will throw rubbish on the streets and later wonder why the drains are blocked.

Anonymous said...

FC is one the best and most modern estate u will find in 9ja not only lag, 24/7 electricity maybe na only Aso villa una go c am, well laid-out, max security, etc. Water wey don dry up since 10PM last night, that's my street and i can tell u what need be done is to free up the water at the far end of the street. There wasn't any floodings year b4, it only started this year as a result of further/uncompleted development along the channel the water passes, am sure soonest, a lasting solutions will be provided.
