He added that the removal of the subsidy would reduce the black market system, thus allowing free and regular flow of petroleum products to all parts of the country.
He argued that the subsidy on petroleum product is currently being enjoyed by only a select few who have the necessary connections to the importers.
He said:
‘’Unless fuel subsidy is removed and we go back to the real market, we will continue to have the type of problem facing the country at the moment. Is it not an irony that we sell crude oil and end up buying refined petroleum from the international market?’’In regards to power supply, the governor suggested the regionalism approach in the distribution of power instead of making all parts of the country to be on the same grid.
Aliyu said it was also sad to note that states that had the resources to construct power plants were being asked to plough the energy generated to the national grid and in return get less than the mega watts they have generated for their state.

Is it not the same subsidy Jonathan removed in 2012 that the heavens almost fell down? Still observing.
I really think it should be removed too
He spoke well, and hit d nail on d head mostly on d issue of electricity.
Dis words r golden "Is it not an irony that we sell crude oil and end up buying refined petroleum from the international market".
N620 million for a 3-star hotel, smh.
Pay salary!
Spot on and Buhari will do that Insha Allah.
Correct
Na wa for this fuel subsidy! These politicians think we have short memory or what? When obj increases fuel price to N65, he said he was removing fuel subsidy. When Gej increased to N97, he again said he was removing fuel subsidy. Pls when will they finish removing the subsidy? What sort of rubbish is this? Smh
I think we can expect it to be removed since Buhari clearly don't agree with it
Na now em dey wake?
NA TODAY U KNW DS???TOMJERRYSWIT
The best thing that will happen to Nigeria is the removal of fuel subsidy and having working refineries. Enough of this nonsense.
Subsidy doesn't breed corruption it's d management of subsidy that does. He has the money to buy as much fuel as he want hence he is agitating for it removal. Subsidy is gud, government should manage it wel cos if u remove it without building our refineries nigerians Wil suffer. What we should b talking about is building our refineries not subsidy removal.
Whatever happened to Dangote's refinery initiative? You announced his signing of a deal to build refineries nearly two years ago. That man has so many incomplete projects. He does nothing after the press release is written and the limelight has dimmed on his announcements. Africa's richest man, my left toe.

If Government remove subsidy and states have refused to pay civil servant minimum wage of N18k how do you reconcile this. Besides what is it that the citizens are enjoying from the government. Nothing
Waking up now is rather too late sir!
Why did u wait till now to say this just go hide yourself in a freezer

I'd rather, dey get our refineries up and working so we won't import. Anywaz I trust my General. Linda take note!
Why now would he agitate for removal of subsidy, after they have benefitted from it,i expect he would all call probe of the subsidy regime.thieves.

Fuel subsidy is the aid the government pays when we're buying fuel. The original price is about 120pL but since we pay 96 the subsidy on it ur 24 naira . Do u get?
I agree with him on this one
FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND OR KNOW WHAT FULL SUBSIDY IS' here's the gist. Fuel subsidy is the aid which the government pays when me and u buy fuel. It is that extra N24 naira that we don't pay per litre. So the removal of fuel subsidy is a BAD thing.
I hope this helps the people who thought fuel subsidy is what changed the price from 63 to 96
