Doyin Okupe explains why Dr Adadevoh's name was not included in the 2014 national honors list

There are quite a few people who believe that late Dr Stella Adadevoh who died from the Ebola virus, should be posthumously recognized by the government as her singular act of stopping Sawyer from living the First Consultant Hospital saved many Nigerians from contracting the disease. But when this year's National Honors list was released last week Thursday, her name was not included.

SSA to President Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe explained why in a tweet...

IMO, she is the only one who should be given the honour.

Noted. Bottomline though, Nigerians know who their true heroes/heroines are.

Is dis a good reason?

They should find something that can be given posthumously and give it to her. Because if not for her actions, a lot of us would be posthumous. Gaskia

How come the late premier of the north and a handful of other great Nigerians got the National honors post humosley? Can someone pls tell this expired megaphone to stop insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians. Can't we simply admit a wrong when it is committed? I think the govt should apologize to the memories of the late Adadevor for the oversight, simple.

I do not know why Nigerians kept expecting so much from GEJ, a man will always act based on the soundness of his mind and intelectual capability, even in the midst of a million negative advisers. Stop blaming Okupe, blame yourselves for expecting so much from a man that its obvious has nothing to offer. Common sense is not common please, you people should understand that fact.

Yes we know who our heroes are. And Dr Adadevoh is d 1st of our kind. She's my hero

for d ist time bishop u are so so on point

this is complete BS. there is always a first time for everything. Our Government people are so intellectually lazy. this is such a lame excuse by Okupe.

PRETTY GIRL said...

Very Lame explanation...But its okay to've given Abacha...May God forgive you cheats and thieves...God bless your soul Dr Stella

Unknown said...

May be cos she wasn't PDP loyalist or political thief.

Mscheeew......can see a lof of high school students in here reasoning like babies if not why wud u a lot of u compare d posthumous award given to Abacha to national honour....Abacha was already a GCFR,the highest national award before he died.he was so decorated cos of his position as d head of state.d award given by Gej to Abacha was a ceremonial award in commemoration of d centenary & it was given to all former presidents both dead or alive.so u guys shd try and investigate before u type trash.
This access to 100mb internet is what's causing all this.every tom, dick & Harry jumps to insult & reason like fools without bordering to do a little investigation

Why do we celebrate mediocres instead of great people?

Anonymous said...

U can only find dis kind of act in 1 country...Nigeria

I have the singular honour to dare ask who cares that Dr Adadevoh award should not be politicised. A heroine like her should not be a subject of controversy because of that singular act of saving many Nigerians that would have died of that dreaded disease. She should in the class of our departed Amazon-Prof Dora Akunyili

Doyin at it again!
Why are these fools calling themselves leaders taking us for granted?
Thesame law that forbids Dr. Adedevoh from being honoured gave right to Alamaseigha & Bode George to be pardoned, Foolish JEG can thereafter honour them, yet the woman that has protected Jonathan, his clowns, his families, his fellowmen from the scourge of Ebola cannot be honoured.
Posterity will deal with all of you who have no regards for a woman that sacrificed her life so that you and me can have a healthy living...
If you like honour her, if you like do not honour her, the Lord has given her the greatest honour....
Keep you national honour in your wardrobe, one day will be one day when monkey will go to market and never return.....
Olodo agbaiya Doyin Okupe...Big for nothing useless human being!
Obesity will kill you one day....
