APC lawmakers walk out of session in protest over $9.3m smuggled to SA

There was major drama in the House of Reps today September 23rd after APC lawmakers staged a walk out during a session in the House after a motion to debate the $9.3m smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians on behalf of the Federal Govt on September 5th was denied by PDP lawmakers.

According to reports, the APC lawmakers had moved a motion through the the House Deputy Minority Leader, Ismaila Kawu to debate the matter on the floor of the House but the motion was stopped after a voice note called by the deputy speaker, Mr Emeka Ihedioha went in favor of the majority PDP members.

After the walkout, the Minority Whip leader, Samson Osagie spoke on behalf of APC members...

He said;
“For us as a people and for us as lawmakers, we find this unacceptable, unethical, illegitimate and in our view, it is an illegal transaction. Nigerian government owes the Nigerian people an explanation as to what that source of money comes from and the purpose for which it was made. If indeed, the matter involves security issues like the purchase of arms by foreign government like Nigeria, why was the South African government not brought into the picture before hand and how could South African government be sure that the arms were purchased legitimately by the Nigerian government and not by the insurgents when there were no officials of the NSA’s office or the Director of state security department that accompany such money?”

9ja is in trouble. Even the so called lawmakers bc of politics are not logical. The house must debate the issue to clear the air. That is a stand the house of rep should take to clear her name.

After now some imbeciles will be calling for Jonathan to return into power. This is the most corrupt government Nigeria has ever had..and that says a whole lot since the fundamental basis of Nigeria's existence is deep rooted in the fabric of corruption. Shebi na the $9.5 million wey una see una dey talk about...lets talk about the billions that have been conveyed undetected and the billions more that will still be stolen.

Hmmmm, hw can a country that practices cashless carry $9.3m in cash in d name of arms as if south Africa doesn't have central banks? Some blind masses are here commenting trash as if there's no rules in Purchasing arms.

At least the issue has to be discussed at the house to enable Nigerians understand what role they have played in approving such money for the purpose it's claimed. Let them perform their civic role whether in good faith or otherwise.

Very soon, this issue won't be heard and the money will simply vanish into thin air (9.3m dollars).

APC is right, though they re all the same. we need an answer to the question. I dey wait .

I really do not agree with the assertion that the money $9.3m transported to South Africa was meant for purchase of arms. To me, that is second thought by the people involved in the illegal money laundering deal. If the money was actually meant for the purpose declared, there is a way the government of Nigeria would have handled the deal which should have been through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). So the FGN should say something else and not harp on the arms excuse, Nigerians are no fools, we know what is happening among those few in corridors of power. It is purely a case of money laundering but they just ran out of luck that they were caught by the authorities of South Africa. Shikena.

What do u expect of a president who has seen the privilege to wear shoes at the expense of NIgerians when he was raised without shoe. Lets stop the most corrupt government at the poll since he has bought his way into becoming the sole PDP candidate at the primary.

APC is right on dis one, where are all d PDP mouth piece now??? Let d FG give it's people d right answer. And remember we are not fools!!!!

Because Tinubu and his cohorts are corrupt should not justify that the opposition should be also be corrupt. Two wrong don't make a right, the vicious cycle of corruption and impunity must end somewhere. Our moral compass as people is faulty.
