Photos: Many people, cows killed, 120 houses razed in attacks on Fulani settlements in Taraba state

Many people were feared killed and about 120 houses set ablaze in simultaneous attacks carried out on Fulani settlements in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State in the early hours of Sunday, June 18.

It was gathered that several cows were also killed by the attackers who invaded several villages and settlements.

A resident of one of the affected villages, Malam Bello Haruna, said several Mambilla youths led by militiamen invaded his village and shot several persons.

He said the attackers also set ablaze all the houses in the village and killed many cows, adding that he managed to escape along with his two children and wife.
“The attack was unprovoked as we did not have any dispute with them,” Haruna said.
Another source, Malam Ibrahim Dauda from Ngouroge town, told Daily Trust reporter in a telephone interview that the militiamen attempted to launch an attack on Ngouroge town on Saturday but timely arrival of a detachment of soldiers saved the situation.

Dauda explained that dusk to dawn curfew was enforced in the town by the soldiers but the militiamen launched attacks on surrounding villages and settlements early yesterday.

Spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, DSP David Misel, who confirmed the incident said any life was lost, but that intervention by the police had brought the situation under control.

Welldone my people. Nice one. This is way forward. We don read about Jesus tire, now it's time to read about Moses. An eye for an eye. Let them die. Any police man that go for any stupid arrest shall lost his life too. Cos all these while, Fulani has been killing with no arrest made.

It's quite unfortunate. May their souls rest in peace. No one has the right to take someone else's life.

Linda, you need to do some soul searching and evaluate your contribution to this situation. There are times when you use your platform to be divisive.

I'm surprised soldiers came in time to save the situation. If it's other communities dem go dey tell u as terrain dey too remote to access in time or whatever other yeye excuse dem go dey give. It's unfortunate, sha. All this killing is just so unneccesary. Nevertheless, the Fulani herdsmen and their sponsors can see that u can only drive a ppl so far. Even if the herdsmen go on reprisal attack, at least the ppl being attacked will know why they are being attacked. Not that somebody will be minding his biz in his house and u jst jump on him bc na only u sabi fight. May God help this nation to know peace.
