My mum was too harsh on me when I got pregnant at 17 - Iretiola Doyle

Nollywood actress, Iretiola Doyle recently opened up on little known facts about her childhood.
According to the actress, her family members, including her mother, were harsh on her when she got pregnant at the age of 17.
Speaking recently at Harvesters International Christian Centre in Lagos, she said:
'You have to surround yourself with people who love and support you. I was blessed to have people around me; unfortunately these people are not family members. My mother didn’t take it lightly with me. I wouldn’t have handled it the way she did because I belong to a different generation. I was nurtured by people I met and they constantly reminded me that my life didn’t end with that bad situation.”
She continued to say:
'I felt I still remained who I was. I came from a very good home, not by wealth but value. Education was not negotiable in my family. I didn’t want that one mistake to define who I was. But it was quite difficult for me because it was the talk of the town for quite a number of years'.

She's in her right as a mother to do so

South west Nigeria has the highest number of Bastard children

It mostly happens that way. Only on rare occasions will parents accept that especially African mothers.

So after banging at just 17, did you expect your mom to buy you a gold medal? Anyway sha, Hey guys, I saw this video online, somewhere in the North where some guys were raping a girl and everyone was watching click here to watch the video lets make this viral till the government intervene.

Your mother did the right thing Aunty Ireti, how do you expect ur mother to celebrate your pregnancy at 17.

Most Africans patent will not accept because they all have this pride of a thing. "What will people say?" They are simply afraid that people will mock them and therefore transfer the agression to the daughter. First time to comment on lib

Did you expect her to pat you in the back? You were 17 and she did what she taught was best and only grandmother's hug and pet you even if you do wrong or at best correct you lightly so don't feel bad about what your mum did. Like u said u are in a different generation and would handle it differently

Apparently one of them was sleeping with your mother while her husband went to work hence your regrettable birth!

Having a child at home is not a sin at least it's better than aborting and you who called people kids bastard, those bastarda are doctors,Engrs, etc and you are still here struggling so better don't say what you dny know.

That doesn't means she should not show her love. And least is better she didn't abort. My family showed me love and today I thank God I have a lovely family that understands.

What is not good is not good. Do u expect your mum to give you trophy. Would you allow your own daughter to get pregnant at 18. You started dating sugar daddies early that how you ended up marrying dole who is two times older than you.

Why abuse the South Western people? What of actress Genevieve who had a child at an early age, is she from the South West too? Some people are tribalists and haters and ignorant too! The mass amount of prostitutes in Italy from Nigeria are not from the South West!

It made you a stronger and admirable woman today, I love you for who you are. Forget all this mumu people commenting here whose hands are stained with several abortion blood

It depends in the level. They should be furious at first but some mother's will build it against you forever making you unable to move IR achieve anything even after the baby is born. It can psychologically affect you and think you are a failure forever. Which is not the case. One big mistake should not define how your family sees you forever.

phew judjunas everywhere! she was 17 for crying out loud that means she was a child!! we didn't ask who impregnanted her because if the man who did was above 17 then it is rape! a child lacks the ability to decern like an adult! yes she has the right to complain about her mom being to harsh. 2017 and we still reason like archaic people. calling her wayward. mtcheeeew

Hahahahahahahaahahhahaahhahhaah! Galore wi'nor'keeme!

I think sister Ireti has dragged her bourgeoisie Wedding-Party character to real life. Nne, snap out of it. No decent mother applauds promiscuity. You were a promiscuous teen. #Dasall - don't revise the facts. Duh.

And see where is is today, thank God for her life.

I can't think of any mother, or father for that matter, who wouldn't be mad at their unmarried daughter becoming pregnant at 17. Yes, it happens, it's not a perfect world, but nobody wants that. It's admirable the baby was not aborted, I suppose. Yet you can't expect a parent who was probably looking forward to your completing your studies and building a career to rejoice that you became a teenage mother.

Your mum did what every African woman would do. No mother wants her daughter to bring home an unwanted pregnancy. That shouldnt make you talk ill of your mother please.

#you wouldnt want your children doing the same to you.

My sister what I just know from you is you are just talking out of shame. Thank God you are a woman and a mother just pray you never experienced that as a course in your life.

Some comments here are quite shocking. When a young girl gives birth, she is quickly branded shameless by the same people who condemn abortion....very pathetic. However I am very happy that God doesn't judge anyone through the double standards of humans so to all the trash talkers here...keep spitting all over like the imbeciles you are.
