First Lady of Benue state, Eunice Ortom went on her knees to greet the wife of the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Mrs. Esther Kumuyi at the state government House in Makurdi, on Friday June 24th. Mrs Kumuyi and her husband, William Kumuyi, were in the state on a courtesy visit to the governor, Samuel Ortom.
I am not sure why this is a big deal. Culturally, we are expected to respect our elders. I guess its because she is a governor's wife and Nigerians ascribe status to governors and their wives. She should kneel down to greet a woman who is nearly old enough to be her mother, in addition to being an older woman of God. Please read about Nigerian culture and the book of Titus in the bible.
I can't come and be kneeling down for just anybody biko. If my good old bow no do you, then sorry. Thank God my culture doesn't have all these complicated greeting systems.
