"I don't owe you any explanation' - says Minister who approved Sawyer's trip to Nigeria

The Liberian Minister who approved late Patrick Sawyer's trip to Nigeria has angrily reacted after he was criticized for letting Sawyer, a staff of the Liberian government, leave Liberia for Nigeria despite Liberian health officials placing him on Ebola danger list.

Deputy Finance Minister Sebastian Muah Omar told a Facebook user who asked him why he made such a decision that he does not owe him any explanation. He also said he wasn't late Sawyer's doctor to stop him from traveling.

One of the minister's followers queried him, saying,
“As his superior, if a man tells you his sister died from Ebola and he could have been exposed do you not think it is your duty to ask the hard questions or maybe you could have reported this to the health officials?...
See the minister's reply after the cut...

The Minister said...

"A friend is dead, I do not owe you any explanation. POS (Patrick Sawyer) was a public health practitioner if you must know. The Ugandan doctor was a medical doctor if you again must know. They are no longer. So the freaking issue is not why he lied or didn’t lie to travel. But how we address the freaking disease. If you don’t have jack to say in that direction then frankly shut up on the subject. Sebastian Muah doesn’t have time today frankly for your rants." The minister said...continue...

The Facebook follower said;
"Stop making silly excuses as to not being his doctor. This does not excuse you from asking the questions as a government official that would safeguard the lives of our citizens and your international partners. It is your duty, again as a Government official not wanting to go above and beyond his duty to safe guard our population.
Oh hell yes you do owe Liberians and the international community an explanation
You have through your negligence of not asking the proper questions exposed others to such a horrible Virus and you on here talking bull.
The minister replied
"The old people say empty drum can’t make noise. So you will be talking by yourself as I see you don’t know what you are talking about and as a matter of finding solution you do not have any but trying to find blame. Someone must have frustrated the hell out of you in Liberia O…. Take me to the international court since I am guilty of approving a travel."
'You are guilty of causing two more deaths, you silly man!' Oh...this is from Linda.

What a shame, this is a country that we lost the lives of our brothers just to keep them at peace. Well not their fault, our priorities as a nation has always been wrong. I just hope we don't lose our sensibilities protecting ingrates

Him and his conspirators should be arrested and tried at the criminal court of Justice for the use of Biological weaponry. Bastard, may your family and generations die of Ebola virus. Ungrateful fool, after Nigeria's assistance during the Liberian civil war gave u the opportunity to be in ur current post. BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O God,please save us from this shame called Africa. And I thought we had bad leaders. Jehovah, I thank you for the leaders we have in Nigeria. As bad as we think them to be, they are not as bad as their Liberian counterparts. I know Sawyer was sent to spread the disease by the Liberian govt but even then , they have no diplomacy! I guess this man doesn't mind if all members of his family are exposed to Ebola! Liberia, spread Ebola!!!!, your govt says so.

Just to put that quote into perspective, that jackass made that statement to someone who argued with him about giving PS permission to travel.

Ebola biological weapon of mass destruction deliberately sent by this idiot, acting on the orders of his govt, to Nigeria. How did this man get this far in life? He is a total criminal. He lost a friend indeed. He should be sorry and ashamed of his friend's actions. But why should he be? It was a deliberate act. Terrorist!

Is this man still a minister?, because if he is, I now see the reason why some regard us as the giant of Africa.

So a minister can talk like this! Maybe he thinks he has nothing to lose . He cannot put this on stress. He needs his meds.

POS was a public health what? Ok, I get it. Sirleaf Johnson sent him to us to tell us the importance of hand washing and disinfectant/antiseptic body spraying at regular intervals.

This guy still has other Ebola plans for us.

'POS was a friend'. Our health practitioners and the ECOWAS employee were enemies! So, y'all can see why the minister had to send POS. Did they not even meet and shake hands or hug?

Nobody should see reasons with this minister. Politicians don't talk like this. Whether he is guilty of the crime or not, he should weigh his words.

Can u blame the mumu? We made ourselves susceptible to this unfolding event. We were surrounded with the virus for years from other countries and we folded our arms like we were immune to it. Were we super beings or maybe we had taken enough ''salt''. How many of us knew about the virus until the Sawyer incident #emptyheadedilliterates# We are all guilty of being stupid and ignorant #takeitorleaveit#

Patrick Sawyer, aka POS, told his friend Sebastian that as an African big boy , he did not want to struggle to survive/die surrounded by Ebola-coat wearing health professionals avoiding him like the plague. They thought of many countries and decided Nigeria was best. POS was to tell the Nigerian doctors if they asked, that he had never come in contact with an Ebola patient. He would then survive or die honorably. Sebastian however made it clear to Sawyer not to come near him or his family.

What do you expect from a man that is part of a cabinet filled with incompetent idiots. There is a Liberian working with us in my organization and she explained to us that their country is being run by a bunch of idiots that are busy pocketing the little money that other countries donate to them to better their country. This is another returnee who has been certificated abroad not educated . And has now returned to his impoverished country to throw his weight around and come on face book to talk trash.

No single remorse for his carelessness yes we know he is no doctor but he should have come on FB apologizing for his country and sending a condolence message to Nigeria.

Linda, If the LIBERIAN Government has actually apologised then they should show it further by sacking this idiot and send him to jail.

Nigeria government should react to this nonsense from Liberia. This is totally not acceptable.
