Golden Eaglets win FIFA u-17 World cup again

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets have won the 2015 U17 World championship. They beat Mali 2-0 at the finals which was played in Chile in the early hours of Monday morning. The Cup triumph means that the Nigerians have successfully defended the title they won two years ago in the UAE. Congrats to them.

Two quickfire second half goals from Victor Osimhen and Funsho Bamgboye ensured that Emmanuel Amuneke's men cruised to victory as Nigeria claimed their fifth world title at under-17 level.
It is the first time that the Nigerians are winning the title outside of the Asian continent. Their previous successes have been in China in 1985, Japan in 1993, Korea Republic in 2007 and UAE in 2013.

They win all the time because they are older than their opponents, tell me which one of these boys is still in secondary school? Shebi it's under 17? So you are meant to have 15,16 and 17 ,, some of these boys finished secondary schools 3 to four years ago and are professional footballers!! I'm happy Nigeria won, I'm just stating the obvious!

This is d reason why our football in Nigeria is not growing. We use overage players to win aged group tournament but we fail woefully at snr level. Ask ursef why? Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroun, Mali etc r all age cheats. 10 yrs time u won't hear of any of these under 17 boys wen dat is wen they shld be at their peak. Until we stop this cheating our football will continue to suffer.

I think we have way over flogged this talk of Nigeria using over aged players as being reason why the senior teams do not perform. You all fail to point some critical success factors. 1: It is easier to gather players 2: The players stay longer in camp together, hence, able to play more coherently than the senior team, 3: all of them are unknown and have that hunger in them to succeed. Check over time all the teams that have won the world cup or the European cup and you will find that more than 80% of their players ply their trade locally. Some of them have developed league, hence their young players are not easily lured by the attraction of foreign leagues. I can assure that if you that if Nigeria can assure the availability of 85% of this same crop of players together all the time up to the senior level, there will be a difference in the way our senior teams perform on the global stage.

Congrat ooooo young shall grow

Lucy aigbe said...

Some things dont just add up. If we keep winning this championship all the time, these players are meant to grow into the snr team and excel as well...but NO, they never make it to the snr team
