Kaci Hickox, (pictured above) who was the first person to be placed into the 21 day period of isolation, said she was treated like a 'criminal' after risking her life to volunteer in an Ebola-stricken country. Her lawyer said Kaci's human rights were abused when she was sent to hospital in a protective suit after arriving at New Jersey's Newark Airport.
The mandatory quarantine began after a doctor, Craig Spencer who had returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the virus after spending five days mixing with the public without realizing he had the disease.

There has being public outcry at how she was treated but there was a clear and present danger that had to be dealt with at all cost.
So sad to be the unwilling guinea pig. I can't blame the US government for the mandatory quarantine decision as it will go a long way to prevent further spread if the medical personnel have been infected without their knowledge prior to their return. The main thing here is they should treat people with respect during the period.
pls am not seeing my comment anyajic@gmail.com

Get the story straight, it wasn't US govt but select state governors.
Kpele! Chinonyekanuchimezie@gmail.com
Linda, try and your stories right, please. It were the states of new jersey and new york that started the compulsory quarantine, not the US government. States of Florida and Illinois later joined nj and ny. The US government has been trying to get the states to change the order and make it more humane, but they refused to budge. Eventually, the governor of new york relaxed the order in his state by agreeing that those doctors and nurses could do the quarantine in their homes. As of now, the three other states still still have the rigid order in place.
Fundamental right: Quarantine no be by force..lol
No be small thing!
*My R1.50c comment*
It doesnt make any sense. Y wuld dey force em? Atleast dey culd hav used anoder method.
But health workers coming from Ebola countries SHOULD be quarantined for safety reasons...she's over-reacting. Americans always want to sue everyone for everything.

Linda, the 21-day mandatory quarantine was imposed by New York and New Jersey governments and not the U.S. government. Your blog is not just to entertain, I believe you want to inform people and rightfully so. Please do more work on the accuracy of your stories before publishing, as little errors like this matter. Thanks.
Stupid woman, Alakoba oshi. No human right for ebola u hear!

She needs to understand that this latest development is for the best.
Oh shut up lady!! Why do you want to waste taxpayers money??! Americans love suing over anything. It's only fair considering what happened with the NY docs "self-monitoring".
She has to be quarantined nah since she's coming back from an ebola dominated country. Why she con day vex again.
I saw this on the news today. They've tested her twice, it came back negative but they're still keeping her in there for no reason. The whitehouse has even expressed concerns about her treatment and how governor kristy is handling all this in NJ. It all sounds like a ploy to discourage American doctors from flying to Africa to help out with the fight against Ebola because of how they'll be treated and held against their will even though they're healthy and multiple tests have proven that fact when they get back. I understand erring on the side of caution but can ebola still develop after 2 tests that came back negative after an initial raised temperature?
And we all know governor kristy's indirect way of bullying to force people to do his wish, remember "bridgegate"? Just because someone didn't support his campaign, they closed down an entire bridge which affected thousands of people from many cities who use that bridge....just to prove a point. I think he wants to discourage Americans from going to Africa and this is his way of scaring them. Unless they're trying to prove that there is 'elastic Ebola' like the malaria version where you run temperature in the morning and it goes away by evening and same thing happens again the next day, that woman should have been released by now.
Nigerians and their shallow brains. the nurse volunteered to go to Africa am sure she is not selfish to have done that, and I don't tink she would be foolish to sue bcos she was placed on quarantine for safety reason, am sure she is sueing bcos of the condition in which it was done. she is not a like Nigerians that do not know their rights
Anon 5:49, thank you o! They said she had a raised temperature when she flew in and she was immediately quarantined and test was carried out. The test came back negative and she was feeling fine. They weren't happy and carried out another test while she waited for the result in quarantine in an ingested tent adjacent to the hospital building with only paper and scrubs to wear. The 2nd result came back negative but they still refused to allow her to go.
She said she was held and questioned by various health workers immediately she landed at the airport. Her temperature recorded 98degrees with a forehead scanner and it rose to 101degrees because she was flushed with anger over being held pointlessly for hours without explanation. One of the officers then told her "you have a fever now" after purposely pissing her off. She asked for a mouth thermometer because the forehead scanner only picked up higher temperature because she was flushed and upset. They ignored and quarantined her in a tent in cold conditions with only scrubs and paper to wear even after 2 tests came back negative. This is just a way to scare other doctors from flying to Africa to help. NJ is trying to send a message to other doctors in the state. Even CDC and NY health commissioner have said this is only going to discourage volunteers from going to west Africa to help fight this epidemic and the outbreak won't end without volunteers.
Selfish Americans. She would prefer to come out age is positive after missing her family and touching apples at the grocery store. And they say they want to know how Nigeria churned Ebola.
Ok
BORN TO SHINE!!!
