Charity Uzoechina, the daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina of the
Redeemed Christian Church of God who converted to the Islamic faith in
Feb. 2013 will soon tie the knot, Premium times
reports.
Her marriage announcement was made known by the Executive
Director of Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, whose
organization has kept tab on the convert for months.
According to reports, Charity who has since changed her
name to Aishat is getting married to the Islamic lawyer, Barrister
Tijani, who handled her case during her conversion.
Her
conversion was so contentious that she sort a sharia court injunction
to be accommodated in the palace of the Etsu Nupe of Bida, Niger
state, for fear that her parents and her Christian fellows would attack
her. Her parents at the time accused the Etsu Nupe of abducting her and
forcing her to denounce her Christian faith. Aishat however stated
categorically that it was a voluntary decision and was in no way forced
by anyone
"I joined Islam purely on my own terms. I love the character of Muslims that I have related with, particularly the way they behave. You know Muslims believe in God,” Miss Uzoechina said at the time.
She would be getting married on Friday May 2nd.

My name is Laide Mustapha, Im very muslim, working in a great company, have a great life and guess what, very sucessful and sure will be in the hereafter. But time will tell.
My point, its unfortunately how quick a lot of christains are quick to throw tantrums and berate other religions, calling Islam all sorts of names. e.g darkness, madness etc. Its such a shame. While i have many xtain friends and appreciate them, its appaling to see how you guys speak. And then you go to church on Sunday and ask God to be blessed. Rubbish!!
Truth is i will always be more tolerant than you guys. U should learn how to do same so that the world can be a better place. Islam is family, its love, justice, peace, and like it or not, its protective of its women. Interprete it how you want. But thats the islam i know.

Christian or Muslim, there is only one God. I am a Christian, I have associated with a few Muslim people and I found the Muslim to be more accommodating. Christians are hypocrites. Christians discriminate instead of showing love like Christ did. So lets not judge. Its an individual thing and level of understanding. I like my Muslim friends.

U people hv no idea what the parents went tru, this girl was abducted from her sch at nasarawa to emir palace for months and denied the parents access to see her. I was following this case from brekete fam. A girl the dad sold his land to send her to sch only for her to end up in emir palace. The father wasn't against her religion but just to have her daughter back. The man even said if she like let her build mosque in his comp. But he just want the daughter he has suffered for around. Linda try to balance story before u publish it. U would hv heard the full story from her dad before u publics it, bcos it seems one sided. I don't know the father but I used to hear him on radio crying for help everyday. Even the day the girl was put on line the way she was talking u will know she was talking with fear.

Anon 12:01am, religion has eeeeverything to do with it. Your father might have decided on his own not to have a polygamous family but as we all know, it is allowed in the Islam religion to marry up to four wives if you're financially capable of taking care of them. Christianity on the other hand only allows one wife. Nigerian men in general, especially those who can't seem to keep it zipped in their pants; both Muslims and Christians have extramarital affairs etc and they can end up having secret families or concubines outside but those actions are not backed up by the bible while those sort of actions are backed up by the Quran as long as the man can afford it and he can bring such women in as 2nd, 3rd or 4th wives. So get your arguments straight, religion has everything to do with it. Thank you!
