"I own Mohits" D'banj's camp denies he made statement to Ebony

A mail I got from D'banj's manager, Bankuli.
Hey Linda
Just to put you in the loop of things... D'banj never had any such statement with Ebony magazine during the interview he did with them. We are in touch with the editor of the magazine on this and a correctional rejoinder will be published soonest..
Mohits Records is co-owned by Don Jazzy and D'banj
Thanks, Bankuli

Ebony magazine really needs to publish dat correctional rejoinder asap to douse d serious tension currently brewing btw diz 2 chaps.
Don Jazzy, D'banj and d other Mo'Hits artist make a great team, dey should remain 2geda.

Hey Linda, i just read the official article from Ebony magazine (www.ebony.com) and all u said is true, he made that statement in the interview and was aware its being published and cos of the backlash the are asking for the magazine to edit its publication. my take on this matter is till i hear an official account from Don Jazzy he remains the CEO of Mo'hits and D Banj his artiste even in companies there is the CEO and the COO both are equally influential in the running of the company but all bulk stops at the table of the CEO who in the case of Mo'hits we all know who he is

Abegi!! He musta said it. I had a good laugh upon reading that post! Gosh, D'banj no get the brains to even CO-own Mo Hits. Poor Don Jazzy recognizes talent and I guess was forced to include Oga D'banj as co-owner to get D'banj signed unto the label. This theory is very aligned to the three stand-out traits of D'banj: greedy, pompous, empty-headed. If him like, make him no retract his funny comments to Ebony, him for see definition of wahala...LOOL.

Ok this is my take on this. This error is to grave to put the blame on Ebony, so this is what i feel must have happened, D'banj definitely made that statement but due to the bashing he has received from his ex-fans his publicist has embarked on a damage control campaign to restructure his image. Words are like eggs once broken it cannot be gathered back. I feel D'banj needs to calm down and not allow this ego thing get to him because in entertainment the most important element are your fan base. Once you loose your fan base you are nothing. The world is a global village and the internet is available everywhere especially in the U.S.A where he intends to penetrate the market. I hope he will not forget that.

Hello Linda, it is nice to visit your blog. I just wanted to stop by and give an input as a bystander during the interview dbanj had with Ebony Mag. I believe Mr.Dbanj forgot when he agreed to do the interview that not only were four recorders used to be able to capture him word for word, that we also had a linguist well in the know of nigerian accents there in the background. I believe the young man in excitement said things he should have thought about carefully before he spoke them. I saw what a Mr. bankuli wrote to you and I know very well that my colleagues will not witdraw the interview any sooner, because we made no mistake, and we are not trying to set precedent for people to come and ask us to retract what they have said. Dont get me wrong though, maybe if the owners of good music Mr.West and his partner Mr.Carter approach us to do damage control maybe then something can be done. We were asked to do the interview in good faith which we did. It was not our intent to cause any problems, for I know the young man during the interview was adamant on the fact, or rather the stories he told us were all true as he believed it. We celebrate the Black race's success, no matter where in the world our brothers and sisters are coming from, and to claim we miss represented him in this article is less than honest. I wish you and the parties involved the best. Sincerely Dave-A friend

I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God. Being with Kanye for the last eight months and me leading a successful label in Africa, I’ve learned a lot and I believe people will see what we’re going to do. I signed with Kanye in June and that same month I won the BET Award for Best International Act. My New York concert isn’t done by G.O.O.D. Linda we just played the tape again to see where we can edit some stuff after our publisher received a request by an important person to cajole the situation into a favorable light, since this can also hurt this important persons attempt to get into the mainstream market in Africa. So it has been edited for now, because there was no way we were going to witdraw the interview. Our editor made a minor change on the website, but the original paper form magazine sold, contain the orignal, unadulterated, unedited, uninfluenced raw interview.I have worked here for 15years and this is the 7th time we had ever edited something to appease a certain group. Personally i speak out of distaste for such form of journalism, but the higher powers has spoken. I just wanted to give you an update. Again I wish you all the best, and may i say your blog is so lively.- Dave

I just got this off my friend hillary's facebook page, you can even verify it for yourself Linda. I feel those in business with dbanj here in the American music scenery are trying to call my friend an incompetent journalist by emailing the editor in chief to make the current correction, when we all were there when the interview took place. Here is her recent post, and you can verify through the site below. This shit is just crazy, it aint her fault the guy is full of himself.
Hillary Crosley Moderator 3 hours ago

Hi everyone, my name is Hillary Crosley and I'm the journalist behind the D'Banj story. In my chat with D'Banj, he stated that he owned the Mo' Hits label and boasted the house's list of artists, which I included. He neglected to mention that he co-owns the label with Don Jazzy and no one in the Mo' Hits camp reached out to me or the EBONY staff to point that out. However, I contacted their US representative today and she clarified for me that Don Jazzy co-owns the label with D'Banj and we've amended the quote above to include this information. We apologize for any confusion on our parts, thank each of you for your comments and clarification. We appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

People should free D'banj. Too much bashing for just one guy. So what if he says he owns Mohits, he's a co founder. He's the artist that brought more money to Mohits.

What happened to the saying that Igbos will even kill their family for money. This confirmed it again, that igbos talk SHIT about yorubas more than yorubas do. They are the biggest tribalist, they don't want to hear the truth.

The split has nothing to do with tribe.

As far as i'm concerned, Don Jazzy should not worry because loyalty always pays. If D'banj likes let him continue to run his mouth,... the Nigerian public will always stand for the truth. OK agreed what if MoHits belongs to him, why is it now that this issue came up. How much does he have that he is talking any how. Money is a spirit and if he is not careful, he will be dumped and he won't be able to face the Nigerian public or Africa as a whole because this is where he has market and what does Kanye West wants to do with him. Those two are just not so right. Are they both high on drugs?
