The Supreme Court today declined to sack Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State from office over alleged tax infractions.
A
five-man panel of Justices of the apex court affirmed the judgment of
the Court of Appeal in Abuja which nullified Ikpeazu’s removal from
office over the alleged fraud.
The court dismissed appeals that were lodged by two contenders for the governorship seat, Mr. Sampson Ogah and Sir Friday Nwosu, as lacking in merit.
The
Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has since dedicated his
victory over Uche Ogah at the Supreme Court to the people of Abia state,
who he said stood by him all through the period of litigation.
