Photos: Lagosians resort to trekking as traffic gridlock persists
Lagosians have now resorted to trekking as the traffic situation in Lagos gets worse. These are passengers along the Apapa Oshodi expressway in Lagos trekking towards Mile 2 as the express road has been overtaken by Petroleum tankers. Some of the passengers have complained about being robbed by hoodlums along the road. The chaotic traffic situation in Lagos entered its third day today.
I passionately dislike this lagos state governor- Ambode and the way he's governing lagos state... He isn't just as proactive and smart as Fashola was when he governed... Ambode is just another figure head governor... It's sad we blindly elected that ogbono... Mchew!!!
Ambode do something ioooo! When you make policies and you don't consider and cater for all possible effects of such policies, this is what you get, CHAOS!!!
My colleague was robbed today n after they robbed n smashed her window glasses... (all four). She was still in the middle of 2 trailers on a standstill traffic for good 15 minutes this morning
Nnem, hmmmmm! It was not a small something today yesterday oooo. I trekked from apapa wharf to mile 2. I just pray the state and federal government wade in to this alarming gridlock traffic
Please check again if GEJ or Peperinpe visited Lagos on Monday and Tuesday. The hard truth is here. The propaganda is over!! Welcome to the real change. After trekking, some people go swim lagoon. Hehehehehehe..... Na today??? Mcheeeeeew😞
You have a car in Lagos, hold ups would not allow you drive, when you venture out with it, you get stuck and have to trek! Lagos needs a serious shake down!
The short term solution to this problem is better and wider roads, that is roads with more lanes, better traffic laws that are properly enforced and creating alternate routes to destinations that are common among everyday commuters. The long term solution, which is the better solution, is for the City's Planning Department to create a live-work situation, in this case people will work where they live. Businesses will be required to locate their offices in certain areas around the city where population is high, these areas are called business districts. This will reduce the number of people that have to travel each morning to a particular area in the city where most offices are located.
