'I will be at the Tribunal tomorrow' - Saraki says

Senate President Bukola Saraki says he will be at the Code of Conduct Tribunal tomorrow September 22nd as a mark of respect for the rule of law. He said this in a statement he released this afternoon on his Facebook page
The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki will appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal tomorrow Tuesday 22nd of September 2015. While the Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, had stated and maintained that he is ready to submit himself to due process of the law on any issue concerning him, he also believes that he has an inalienable right to resort to the same judiciary for protection when he feels his fundamental rights are about to be infringed upon.
The Senate President is a law abiding citizen and his absence from tribunal was based on legal advice he received from his counsel that it is not necessary for him to appear before the tribunal at this stage since the jurisdiction of the tribunal and the process of initiating the matter are being challenged before the federal High Court Abuja.

Following the adjournment for the determination of the motion on notice and the substantive suit before the Federal High Court to 30th of September and the appeal pending before the Court of Appeal adjourned to the 29th of September 2015, the Senate President has decided, as a law abiding citizen, to appear before the Tribunal in the interim.

Dr. Saraki has taken the decision to attend the Tribunal sitting to demonstrate his respect for the rule of law in spite of his personal reservation on the process of his trial and the purpose it may be intended to serve.

Dr. Saraki wishes to assure Nigerians of his absolute belief in the judicial process and is therefore confident that the course of justice would be served at the end of this matter.

His cup of coffee, no one is and should be above the law.
If your hands are clean, go there and prove it.

you are custodian of the law and you are setting a bad precedent by trying to frustrate the code of conduct proceedings against you.

Leaders leads by example. if you are filling applications to frustrate you own prosecution what then would ordinary citizen do.

since you were accused of something you should have gone there to clear your name not to be looking for a way to frustrate it because the most important thing after you have been accused was to clear your name no function of your office is as important as that at the moment instead you trying to make us to wait forever when there is allegation against your conduct while in public office.

You need to go and watch House of Cards, it must be instigated by someone of cause and you don't have to tell us that, the onus then lies on you to quickly clear your name since the issue has come up, that is politics not by raising sentiments.

Your conduct and all the ignorant 50 Senators beneath that of a leader, the law is for everybody not just for the poor alone.

You are suppose to protect the interest of the people of Nigeria.

You for no show, would have been nice to see you brought in cuffs ala Tafa balogun. Now you are law abiding after exhausting means not appear. Abeg go answer for your deeds and misdeed as the case may be. OLE

But your legal team argued today that you are an adult & that even if advised, the onus is upon you to choose to regard or disregard any advice to appear before the code of conduct tribunal. You have run out of choices & must now appear cos' both the Federal high Court & appeal court denied granting you a stay of proceedings of the CCT.Be fooling yourself.don't go & explain how you declared an empty plot of land as bring a duplex & 11 other weighty charges against you.

Something isn't just right with the whole story of Saraki and his false assets declaration. There is no smoke without fire. Am neither calling him a saint nor a crook. But something about the dude and the way he came into power is highly questionable. Click on this amazing link and become mega rich!! http://PayRefe.com/?ref=1711

Hummmmmmmmmmmmm, it's becoming interesting. I av been in Kwara state now for over a decade. His corruption has eaten so deep into Kwara economy. How I pray and earnestly hope all his looted monies will be recovered. he shd answer how he follows Kwara federal allocation every month. How d incumbent governor can not sign a cheque of 10M without d consent of Bukola. Am so sick and tired of dis guy dt whenever I think of him, it makes m sick in d stomach.

Na for Facebook he dey release statement?!

@Anonymous, September 21, 2015 at 6:27 PM- there is nothing questionable about how Saraki came to power as Senate President- I can't speak about how he came to power as governor but the senate presidency election was televised live and the senators present at the chamber at the time voted according to their preference and Saraki carried the majority of votes (only after David Mark refused to stand for the senate presidency again- APC should count themselves lucky that he refused). It was the fault of Saraki's own APC colleagues if they were absent from the national assembly on that day- you can't blame Saraki for that!

The deliberate refusal of not attending the first section raises moral question on your person and the office you occupy. It would have been a serious institutional gain if you had showed your respect forthe third arm of government, now you have stir a controversy that is heating up the political space. The battle ahead may not be easy for you. The teamof super rich lawyers you lined up can only buy you legal victory, they can never buy you the moral victory from the Nigerian on the street.
