He truly deserves to be given a Nobel peace prize. He might not be the best for the job but he is a good person. #manofthedecade.

He's a good man...Can't wait for the so called change to happen...Everyone knows Buhari is a wicked man and they still talk change...we will still look for change in 2019

Of course,he is one true hero

I disagree.
He did what is sane in civilized world though insane in Africa.

Unknown said...

Why does he deserve a prize for doing the right thing? Biko pull over

Unknown said...

Not a hater, but people should stop this free and fair bullshit.
If jonathan had his way, he would have rigged this election. No he couldn't because it's beyond his power. It was obvious that Buhari would defeat him, and if he had tried any shit, the unexpected would have happened. However, he rigged in other states. Rivers, Enugu, Anambra and co, so did Buhari. But unfortunately for him, the people's power is beyond him. It's not by running around with Nigerian Celebrities, they are just very little circle of people.Nigerians have decided.
My Opinion. If you like Insult me.

Truly a hero!

Nusitech said...

But isn't that what he is suppose to do? It's not like he did anything of impact for the country, we still have all the basic problems since independence, and to add to that we have no security, there are kidnappings every day, we have terrorism treat that is crippling the country. The best thing he achieved as the president is loosing this election, and he does not deserve a Nobel Peace prize for that.

Yh President Jonathan was a mature loser, but please give me a break, Nobel Prize 4 WHAT?? All Nigeria has been through in the 6 years of his miserable tenure? And please what was he supposed to do? Fight the results when the whole world knew Nigeria was desperately in need of a new efficient government. President Buhari won fair and square. Democracy means the people of a country have the right to chose their leader. He did exactly what he was required to do, at least for once. Give praise to whom praise is due. He is no hero.

You are so shallow! What has a free and fare election got to do with Jonathan? INEC is an independent body old woman.

Chi chi said...

I do not think he deserves a Nobel peace price. However, for the manner he conceded defeat by calling his opponent is commendable especially in Africa. He is a fine gentleman and a true statesman.

If only he acted fast to chibok girls and dealt with Boko harsm, and corruption effectively, Just maybe.

I luv both Mr president & d president elect, both I luv Naija more.

Free and fair? Nigerians are the dumbest people on earth

Anonymous said...

the president deserves commendation. he is a man on d positive side of history. he has conducted 2 credible elections.conceded defeat when it was clear he lost. gmb has never accepted defeat in d 3 previous elections he had lost even after d supreme court had given judgement. am sure he would have rejected d result of the last election he had lost.

Dr Jonathan U r a true hero. History will always be fair on You. I Salute U "SIR" , U deserve more than a "NOBEL PEACE PRIZE".
Ve always been " Sai Buhari" but U shook me completely by Wt U did yesterday
Even if Nigeria does not appreciate Wat U did for dem, Posterity will always reckon on it. I respect nd Love U.
Long Live President Jonathan! Long Live the Best President Nigeria have had so far!! Long Live a True Democrat!!!.

Goodluck my hero as well... All people saying it should be normal to conduct a free n fair election if u were in same position as him would u have done d same

Anonymous said...

@ Udoka, I think u are quiet unreasonable. Why haven't the past leaders like OBJ n his likes given u free n fair election, it takes a good man like GEJ to make ds happen. He deserves more than an award, infact whether u like it or not, the world is celebrating GEJ. He is d best. He doesn't even need ur commend, he is more celebrated worldover than the president elect. Long live Nigeria n GMB

No be only Nobel, na Novel Peace Prize.

Does he have a choice, when he's reminded of Laurent Gbagbo everyday?

Unknown said...

For now he remains the only president that steped in free & fair and steped out free & fair.cos according to Jega:No election is perfect and better,Bt among them all ,elections during his tenure is closer.

Anonymous said...

I agree. If GEJ had won, there would have been blood shed in the North and that cattle rearer would not have done anything

Tunji Lasisi said...

Linda, Kindly remember what you said as regards the Woman who returned that money at the airport when the gofundme issue came up. The same applies here. I have no idea what was going through Reno's head when he thought of this. It is the norm for the Incumbent to accept defeat if defeated. What Johnathan did is commendable but shouldnt be celebrated at all. If he had refused to admit his defeat then he will be infected with the Laurent Gbabo Virus. We all know what will then happen. So Mr. President thank you for being a Gentleman, we Nigerians are grateful. Saying he should be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for this is as good as insulting all those who have won this award legitimately. I wont blame Reno, he has been in a system that rewards people who dont deserve to be rewarded for so long that he can actually believe that all he has said makes sense... There is no post election Violence becauase the poeple's choice Won, not because the Loser accepted defeat QED.

Anonymous said...

You must be a fool and perhaps young. If you know the history of this country, you will know why people are commending him. If GMB had lost he wouldn't have been near as gracious as GEJ was. It shows strength of character. I bet you investore would be scared of coming into Nigeria now because of that wretched dictator

gbemi said...

The most significant contribution Jonathan made to the Nigerian system was loosing the election! With that being said, Awarding an action expected from a democratic government is utter rubbish! (Linda can you recall what u had to say about the Airport cleaner who found money n later on believed she was entitled to a reward/ fund Via ur blog?)

Jonathan explored all possible tricks/resources durin his campaign: rice, celebrities, ur blog (among other things) He only conceded because he abandoned borno for the longest time and knew he never stood a chance with the state.

He fought hard to retain his seat till the very end -- before conceding *loosing*. you cant exactly tap out after getting knocked out in a ring! so I think it was a smart move not an honourable one. Rigging wouldn't have helped either (shouldn't even be considered an option), as he would have risked civil war.

On more delicate note, What about the innocent lives we lost to boko when he was in office? Do they count at all? And innocent lives we lost to jungle 'justice'? and the missing gurls? let's not even talk about the official criminals/murderer he pardoned. Instead of Jonathan tackling our major problems in the state, he diverted he attention to his minorities I.e Gays. Sent us back to the mideavel time with Child Marriage and removed fuel subsidy when ppl are still making less than a dollar a day in a major oil producing country.

Please Nigerians, we should not celebrate/award incompetence, expecially when weve lost many lives n constitutional human rights in the aftermath)

When good men sit around and do nothing in the face of chaos, they indirectly make great contributions to it. I commend his action but I do not think he deserves an award for what was expected of him. Nigerians are the ones to be credited for keeping the peace not Jonathan - Sorry.

B4 I start , linda post ma comment ooo.
Nigerians 4get easily we keep screaming our rights now bcos GEJ hs accepted to leave office if he didn't want to wat would we have done? D answer is simple kill ourselves (d masses) he n his family will nt b affected n he will use d power which he has not dat he is aspiring to have oo, he will use it to force us to submit. Dont bother argue cos it has happened in dis country severally. So taje it or leave it a president who says his ambition is not worth d blood of any Nigeria is worthy of a peace Nobel award.in as much as i congratulate d new president, I respect n commend d strong man GEJ, dis is where true strength is tested n GEJ has proven himself a strong man

Anonymous said...

All this anti GEJ saying rubbish, this has neva happened in d history of Nigerian's democracy, so he sure deserves it afterall he put Jega there. Mind u the north also did dere own rigging with there underaged voting. Last time when Buhari lost there was post election violence. If the international community should commend GEJ then u guys should all shut up. We pray for a beta Nigeria

Talk about the low hanging fruit. What is deserving of a noble prize in the fact that an incumbent got his ass handed to him and he conceded to a better opponent?
Some say he prevented violence? What about the scores that have died since he became president?? The number of people that died under his watch as president is only second to the number due to the civil war. Abeg start packing otuoke is calling. At least now you have shoes. He doesn't deserve even an Otuoke medal. He was pressurized to concede defeat. He was ready to set the country on fire. Orubebe spent more than 30mins stoking the crisis and the President was watching undisturbed. He didn't call him to order. It is Jega that deserves a Nobel prize for reading in between the lines. His comportment saved the day. Otherwise we would have been at each others throats since yesterday. The world's outrage at that shameful display made the Peace Committee pressurized Jonathan to concede defeat or find himself in prison at the Hague. We should not forget he induced Gani Adams to cause mayhem in Lagos. He is clearly not a peaceful person. He has a very deceitful appearance and personality.

For what? For collapse of businesses, hike of duties, breakdown of economy to name just but few. Smh

His actions commendable but doesn't deserve any Nobel prize award. We Nigerian's are just too sentimental with this hero rubbish and if you all notice it,its GEJ supporters that re framing this rubbish hero story. GEJ ur effort was coMmendable and it's cos dere was no way to rig the election further but you are not a hero the real hero is JEGA who didn't fall for the dollar rain you were sharing about including to celebrities who are very rich forgetting the fact that the poor ones are more in Nigeria. From staitsictis the poor voted buhari while the rich and corrupt voted the self proclaimed hero GEJ. My hero is JEGA. I rest my case

Unknown said...

Pls help me tell them? Maka y should he get a Nobel peace prize? U stupid PDP ppl are over playing dis stuff? Was he suppose to go on a killing spree cos he lost? How many jobs did he create for non niger deltans? How many ppl did he hold accountable or jail for corruption? Y didn't he fight boko haram d way he did in d past 4 yrs ? Spare me d sentiments, only ppl who benefited directly from PDP govt dat open their osophagus and say he performed, see d shitty economy, see d high level of corruption, so shut d fuckup ignorant PDP idiots!

Hehe, Linda, you started this not honoring people for doing the right thing movement by saying the airport cleaner shouldn't get a crowd sourcing account for returning money. It's your fault Nigerians are staunchly against GEJ getting his Nobel Prize for conceding the elections. You're very overtly partial to GEJ all of a sudden, and the unintended consequences of your actions are backfiring to block your boy's blessings.

Don't mind Linda, she's just happy that she doesn't have to return to her state. I remember her saying that woman that found money shouldn't be rewarded just because she did the right thing. Now she's changing stance.

Linda this your boyfriend is daft o. Nobel peace prize does he know the enormity of the award? GEJ had no reason not to concede as greedy as he is he no get mind. I maintain that, THAT call he made to GMB at 5:15pm was done in the toilet if not why are't there pictures to prove it? For the first time he used his owns brains, after all his sycophants fled the scene leaving him and his brains behind. Nobel peace prize kor Noble war prize ni. If they give him then Abdulsalam Abubakar also deserves one too. US AND UK had WARNED GEJ so did many African presidents that if anything happened he would go down. He remembered Laurent Gbagbo and remembered the troop of soldiers shipped in from the US waiting in Ghana to take over. Then Kofi Anan's secret meeting made him realize the world had eyes on him. Silly man after he played a fast one on John Kerry and the former heads of state by moving the elections only to still loose. UNTIL MAY 29TH I AM STILL SLEEPING WITH BOTH EYES OPEN... I DON'T TRUST GEJ NEVER HAVE NEVER WILL.

GEJ is a man of peace that is evident in his steps for a free and fair election. For crying out, this is Nigeria and as the incumbent, he He had the power to ensure that it was totally rigged in his favour. He had the power even to remove JEGA. He did allowed Nigerian choose for peace sakes. And if he had done that people would have just kept talking and fighting and nothing would have happened. GEJ IS AN ADVOCATE OF PEACE. HE DESERVES A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE AWARD.
