The buildings include a four room bungalow at Ararite Aguleri owned by a man from Umuobanam but used by his caretaker, one Jude Onu from Imo State and his gang. Other kidnap gangs were said to have used the building as hideout while negotiating for ransom.
Another building which belonged to late businessman Ozoemena Egwuatu but was used by his nephew, one Ejima Nwandu for kidnap activities, was demolished at Umuatulu, Umurueri.
The government said they've embarked on the demolition and arrest of kidnappers in a bid to ensure a crime-free yuletide season in the state. See pics after the cut...

Good!
Willie Obiano Obiakpo is working. #thumbsup.
This is just show us the level of Stupidity of our Government.. Is this the solution to kidnapping going on there or is there a personal beef between the governor of that state and the owner of those buildings? It stated that the properties are owned by some people and are under the care of some other people, so tell me how does demolishing the building bring the solutions they need in that area? Wickedness..
Willie is working
Hmmm
Ok
Thank you my Governor, continue to do what you know how to do best###########OTUoCHA

The buildings should be destroyed very well, stupid kidnappers. I hope they will rot in jails too. Nice one Obiano! #onelovefromSnow#
Why not seize the buildings and convert them to other use, homeless shelters, new businesses? A destroyed building is an eye sore in the community.
Not just demolishing but the purpose should be acheive. Whatever will help reduce crime is welcome.
GOD bless him me dey fear oh
no hiding place for the wicked....
sorry to the real owners of those properties .........GOD IS THE GREATEST.....

Lol.But the buildings are inanimate and harmless. People need them to live in. Its enough to prosecute the criminals.
A commendable effort from anambra state government. Job well done!
This isnt right..the owners of these buildings are innocent of these crimes. Could be their life savings. Shame
Bingo it help a lot. Dat will make d owner of d building b vigilant, or him not to loose his huz nd his land
too bad, even in this age and time.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
haaaaaaaaaaaaa
if its true.. that's commendable
How can you demolish building dt is not deres abeg it's wickedness
Great.
Well said. A lot of dumb comments here except urs
This is waste of resources, this can be used as police station or even phcn office or even health centre etc than bring the house down
May God xpose more of dem
If youu understand how Ibos value land and buildings, especially in their towns and communities, then you will understand this unique approach to tackling a serious social problem. Owners of buildings will be extra vigilant to be sure their houses aren't been used as a kidnappers den.
Good decision

Linda I am from Anambra East. I support the Governor in his efforts to rid the state of all forms of criminality. But I do not support his brazen demolition of houses of suspected kidnappers. I think the Government can through the instrumentality of law revoke the statutory right of occupancy of those buildings and use the buildings for the public benefits as hospitals, health centres, police stations or schools. Obi started it and Obiano is up holding it. Self help is never a solution to our problems. Rule of law is better.
