Given my recent political pedigree, many inquirers naturally wanted to understand what was happening, and whether it was true that I was consulted and whether I would accept the offer.
The history of my life is a history of public service, and if we cast a honest gaze back to the recent protests in the wake of the oil subsidy removal, it will be clear to all that the biggest single victory Nigerians scored was to put the question of corruption squarely back on the top of our national policy agenda.
Regardless of our affiliations, our differences, and our engagements, it is at least safe to say that we have a national consensus on the deadly impact of corruption on our march to greatness, and on the capacity of our people, particularly the youth, to earn a decent, promising, life.
If we would effectively isolate and defeat this scourge therefore, we must all see it as a preeminent national security threat. We must see it as a war within our borders, a war that has assumed a systemic and endemic character, but to which all must now urgently enlist with our different capacities, or accept to all go down with the ship.
At this point in my life, it is also easy to answer the honest question if it is inappropriate to invest my modest talents and capacities to my country what I have readily offered many foreign communities, from sister nations in Africa to far flung places like Afghanistan.
This, if nothing, makes my decision very personal, freeing all affiliations [social and political] of complicity, but investing the decision also with the unique character that when people reach evaluations in favour of their larger communities, it doesn’t necessarily blemish their moral identity.
This therefore is a national call. In answering it, I go back to the template of my own parents who taught me that honest public service is the greatest asset a person can offer his community.
It was the same lesson I learnt from his biographical example when my own father returned home as a federal legislator in Lagos to take job as a local council official in Yola—its all about the community, and it is sometimes bigger than our personal egos.

There is really nothing wrong with him taking up an appointment but he should remember the fact that the only reason why he succeeded as EFCC chairman was because OBJ gave him maximum support,I doubt if GEJ(Mr incompetent)would do same.
Accepting the appointment in the larger interest of the nation is commendable. We all are groaning from the monstrous level corruption has attained in our society and agreed that it must be urgently and decisively tackled. If men of proven integrity and principle are offering to help in our collective effort to tackle the menace, they should be commended and supported. Ribadu is right. Resolving genuine national issues should transcend personal egos or parochial political interests.
As for those who worry that his appointment may be a set-up, let him worry about that since it is his personal decision. I am sure when he gets to that bridge he will cross it. No matter what, he at least will be counted on the side of history as having tried to help his country at a time when men of courage, honour and impeccable character are difficult to come by. This, for me, is much more honourable than joining the band-wagon of those who always take pleasure in perpetually sitting on the fence and condemning everything in the polity while watching things degenerate. Would those who are condemning Ribadu’s appointment rather the task was given to the same notoriously dubious people of yesteryear?

I believe he might have been a good man once.however when he took up contesting for presidency under a Tinubu flagship,i lost all respect for him.till date he hasnt answered the question posed to him during the campaigns.he said it publicly that "Tinubu is a rogue of international standards".what happened to that.as eFCC boss,he pursued Tinubu with all purpose of having him jailed.while Tinubu remains innocent until proven otherwise,i know as do most people that he truly is a rogue of international standards which is why they havent been able to nail him down.my reasons for bringing this up is if Ribadu in a bid to be president can soil his self acclaimed reputation,whats all the hogwash he is trying to sell to us on accepting this.?

Very unfortunate. Nigeria is a nation where the dog goes back to its vomit. It is a nation where those who have failed in leadership have refused to resign from office. While Ribadu was EFCC boss, Tinubu was a rogue of international standard. When he wanted presidency at all cost, Tinubu became an angel to Ribadu without being judged and acquitted. Ribadu is no better than the oil cabals until he proves otherwise. Anyway, Nigeria political empire is a market ground where the opportunistic ones go in to make enough money for generations unborn without any positive influence. My guy, you have every need to accept it. It's all about how much you will make within this period, not really how many you will found guilty. No one will ask you for that. Join the billionaires to make your own cash. its better for you now because until we see, Nigeria is not getting any better in the hands of cabals. May God save us.
