Bill Gates remains the richest person in the world with a net worth of $75 billion, despite being $4.2 billion poorer than a year ago. He has been No. 1 one for 3 years in a row and topped the list 17 out of 22 years. (In the 30 years FORBES has tracked global wealth, only 5 people have held the title of richest person on planet; 3 of those 5 still rank among the 4 richest in the world including Warren Buffett and Carlos Slim.)
Also holding steady is Buffett at No. 3. Zara ’s Amancio Ortega moves up to No. 2 for the first time, displacing Mexico’s Carlos Slim, who slips to No. 4. Slim’s fortune fell $27.1 billion to $50 billion in the past year, as shares of his telecom business América Móvil tumbled.
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg had the best year of all billionaires. The 31-year-old added $11.2 billion to his fortune and moved up to No. 6 from 16. He and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos both make their first appearance in the top ten of FORBES’ annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest. Another first: A billionaire from China’s mainland, Wang Jianlin, whose company owns AMC Theaters and soon will own Legendary Pictures, has climbed into the top 20.

Look @ how simple he looks, even when u check the list u'll hardly find pictures of any of them especially Bill Gates (the richest man in world) flaunting any gucci or LV. It's people that don't have anything that need all that crap to make themselves feel better. We shld learn a lesson in humility from these people. Bill Gates is helping Africa fight Malaria and other diseases and we are using our small money to buy expensive shoes and clothes. Let's try to be helping ourselves no matter how small.

Ok,let me write a little epistle,since most Nigerians are confused with this Forbes-Billionaire-Thingy.
Most billionaires like: Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg,Larry Ellison,Larry Page, Mukesh Ambani,.... and the top 100 billionaires have high shares in their company: let's say company ABC. You co-found a company called ABC and get 50% or so of that company. The more private investors invests in your company,the lesser the shares and bigger the money gained by shareholders. Let's say Mr A invests $2 mill. For a 30% stake in company ABC. The remaining share of the co-founders becomes 35% each,with them being 1 million dollars each richer. So,when big companies do IPO's (initial public offerings), it becomes possible for the general public to buy shares and trade with it,these billionaires make a lot of money in a short while. Not from profits,but from investments. The monies made are not always liquid- I mean to talk say "the money no dey bank,or anywhere else." It's just an IOU (I owe you) that's given to billionaires meaning that they can cash out at anytime. These IOU's can become useless if stock prices fall. That's why you hear that a billionaire lost $22.something Billion in a matter of days,months or years. These monies didn't fly out of their accounts,because it was never in existence physically at all. So between an Arab prince and Bill Gates,who's richer? I'll choose the Arab prince because his money is usually in a vault underneath his palace in the form of gold bars. These Arab billionaires can definitely bring out a billion dollars without much hassle as opposed to Bill Gates. But, given the overall circumstances,Bill is worth $74 Bill and most Arab princes are worth between $1 billion - $15 billion. If electricity/ the internet should collapse worldwide,the Arabs will still be billionaires as opposed to Bill Gates who will be a poor man who owns a very large house.
