Ibori, others to complete jail term in Nigeria as FG sign pact with UK govt on prisoner exchange

According to reports, Nigerians serving jail terms in the United Kingdom will soon be transferred to Nigeria to complete their prison time as the Federal government and the UK government have reportedly signed an agreement for prison transfer.

Former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, is expected to be part of those that will be repatriated to complete their jail term in Nigeria. Ibori still has more than six months to stay in prison.

The United Kingdom Minister of Justice, Jeremy Wright, made this known during a visit to the Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazzau (Rtd) yesterday March 2nd to finalise the process of prisoner exchange between the two countries.

I hope he spends his jail time here in the ordinary cells where common criminals are kept and no prefeciential treatment should be accorded him.

I remember seeing the loot of all the money this man stole. It was unbelievable. Nigerians are very forgiving to let him back in the country.

This is a case of misplaced priority. What is wrong with this FG sef. You cannot adequately feed, shelter and care for the Nigerian prisoners here in Nigeria, yet you are going to bring in others from foreign prisons instead of tackling the appalling conditions in these prisons. What benefit will accrue to Nigeria from this nonsense.

Prisoner Exchange for money I guess
There are so many Nigerians in UK Prisons and it is costing the Tax Payers so much to rehabilitate and reform them so perhaps they see this as a viable opportunity to get these prisoners out of their custody by giving the Nigerian government monetary incentives.

I pity those with lengthy jail sentences because a lot of them might not be able to withstand the transition from UK to Naija jail conditions

so if i may ask,,,or is this what it may seem..if naija and UK start exchanging prisoners now that means Nnamdi Kanu (the standing tree in a forest, the mountain that refused to be climbed,The night masquerade of igboland,The flame that have no smoke,The man with not just a lions heart but the lion himself),,will he be transferred to UK TOO...cos i heard he is a citizen of there too..????

Welson said...

That will be disastrous for him........he will just die in kirikiri prisons before his time.

New drama loading... Ibori gets sent back to nigeria, he's kept in cell for a week, finds strong lawyer, sues FG to court, case is adjourned, court gives him bail, he goes home. End of his sentence... Nigeria is too Corrupt to be sending back these hard criminals

Anonymous said...

I really feel so sorry for those prisoners that would be transfered back to naija..
1.u ve lost your chance of settling in UK or Europe..
2.their food wld change from balance diet to cornmeal direct direct...no fried eggs in naija prison..talk less of meat..
3.their sleeping package wld detoriate

Oboy indeed someone has tied their Goat...

Linda, its in the best interest of society that you block or blacklist dis freeborn zinalima fellow. In as much as freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it should be done with decorum.

how can he be openly castigating certain tribes and religions and openly abusing our president

its obvious he has no home training and basic decorum; he can criticize but has not right to abuse our president and other tribes and religions

Servant of God indeed!!!!
