How Can Anybody Be This Foolish?

This is a sponsored post. Read below
He Is a big fool... a very useless man, jobless mumu, shameless idiot. Na only for food he dey get sense. no be him mates dey drive beta car. wetin make me marry am sef? Nonsense" By the time Mrs Atinuke finished narrating their family issues to her Aunty, Mama Janet turned around to look at him with such complete and utter PITY. Mr Adeola covered his face in shame...
What exactly had he done to deserve this treatment from the bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh?

The one and only true love of his life?

The one he exchanged such loving marital vows with and had faithfully and sincerely honoured them for the past seven years?

The woman who had given him three lovely children and swore to be by his side for better for worse till death do them part?

How had things gone so wrong?

Let me start from the beginning...

Mr Adeola was your average Nigerian man who graduated from the University of Ibadan with first class  in mechanical engineering and was part of the lucky few who got employment with one of the top federal I.T firms in Nigeria

He was also blessed with a darling wife...the mother of three wonderful children he loved so dearly.

A particular Sunday night, as he watched his wife and children sleep, he thought about what he had  and was feeling very grateful, after all he was so happy he could not have wished for anything more.

Little did he know that his life was about to take a turn for the worst

One Tuesday morning, Mr Adeola went to work as he had done for the past 5 years and immediately he arrived, he had this gut feeling that something was amiss...

Some of the office work stations were vacant and he knew a few of the people who worked on those places...they had never missed a day of work in their lives.

As if to confirm his suspicions, 20 minutes later he was urgently summoned to the office of his 'oga at the top'

On geting there his employer explained to him that since President Goodluck Jonathan removed subsidy on fuel in January 2012, things had not been the same at the company.

The company was not meeting up to its expected monthly quota and decided to downsize to save costs.

Then his boss dropped the bombshell...

"Mr Adeola, you have been a solid employee but we simply have to cut staffing. This is really hard for me, if there is anything I can do for you, just let me know..."

Then his employer handed him the much dreaded white envelope.

His world came crashing down in a matter of seconds...

He simply thanked his boss, packed his personal belongings and walked out of the building, never to step a foot in there again.

What just happened?

His mind was still in shock...

All the countless hours of sweat and blood he had poured into the company had gone down the drain.
He had heard of similar cases happening to other people, even read about it on the newspapers and saw it on the television news...

He even witnessed a firsthand experience when his dear cousin was sacked from her job and silently prayed to never experience it.

Unfortunately he was not spared...

After dinner, he mustered courage and told Atinuke he was back in the labour market.

"ehn, darling what did you just say?"

He could never have imagined she would react that way.

That her enchanting smile that melted his heart even when he was in a very bad mood vanished in an instant like a thief in the night.

She consoled him and assured him that he would soon land himself a better job

And so it begun...

Armed with his carefully written CV and application letter, he scoured through lots of newspapers and submitted his CV and application letter to different companies in his field that had advertised vacant positions.

He called family, friends and relations about his condition and some promised him help which never came as you cannot give what you do not have.

With the advise of a friend, he took his search to the internet and subscribed to different jobs and career sites like jobberman, ngcareeers, w3jobs and visiting
different job forums that could help him get different openings all over the country.

This indeed gave him some openings and he was contacted for some interviews.

Having done serious research on the company that contacted him before hand, he had dressed in his best suit and hustled through the tough traffic just to be very early for the interview where he did very well and was praised by the interviewers who promised him the job.

He got home happy and excited to tell his wife he had been successful and hoped to get a mail, text or call from the company on when he would start his new career.

All this while, it was his wife that had been taking care of their family and the three children.

She earned slightly less than one-tenth of his previous salary and she had to put in many extra hours in hope of receiving bonuses just to cope and prayed God her husband get the job so she could drop a part of the family burden

Two weeks passed and still no call, no mail, no sms from the company.
Mr Adeola was beginning to get worried so he went to their office the next morning to make an enquiry only to be dealt a devastating blow.

The job he was promised had been given to another man...one who was not even as qualified as himself for that position.

He left the compound in tears and later discovered the new employee was a close relative of the 'oga kpatakpata' so there was no way he could have even gotten the job.

His wife was not happy to hear this but encouraged him to keep on searching after which he had submitted his CV to many other companies and was expecting the result of the interviews in good faith.

Strangely he was beginning to feel a difference in his wife's attitude towards him but couldn't point out exactly what it was.

There was one Thursday morning when he had to run out of the bathroom even with a soapy body just to answer his ringing phone thinking it was probably one of the companies he had gone for an interview who wanted to finally offer him the job.

Sadly he was very disappointed as it was MTN calling to tell him of their new caller tune service.

"these yeye people don come again ooo" he lamented.

The Tuesday evening just after easter, as Mr Adeola was coming back from yet another failed attempt to get a job at Apapa, he was thinking about what his life had become, if there was any hope for the future...
...this was when he started feeling this sharp pounding in his chest and was so tired he fought to keep his eyes open that he didn't notice the Danfo bus approaching...

If not for the timely intervention of a LASTMA official who pushed him out of the road, he would have ended up in the cemetery with his destiny cut short.

He thanked the LASTMA official profusely and went to get himself checked out at a nearby hospital where he learnt he had abnormal high blood pressure reading of 145.
The doctor explained that what he had just experienced was a mild case of heart attack and he had to reduce the stress levels in his life or he may experience the full blown type.

This was the aftermath of many serial doses of Anxiously awaiting an employer's call that he had been "awarded" his well deserved job as a reward for all his struggling efforts just to get his hopes dashed in the mud.

This made him stop physical job hunting for many months to recover while he kept submitting CV's online and kept praying for the best.

Meanwhile his wife, though grateful for his life was not pleased he could not assist with the family matters financially and after sometime started seeing him as a nuisance and found fault with almost every little thing he did.

He did things to please her and did his best to avoid quarrels, even apologizing when he wasn't at fault but she treated him how she liked and he could not utter a word because he dared not bite the hand that was "feeding" him.

Luck was on his side that the growing children were still too young to really understand the meaning of the bad, bad words his wife frequently rained on him. Deep down he was gradually losing his self esteem and knew he could not continue like that for long...

One Saturday afternoon in may 2014, his in-laws came on one of those rare visits to him and "their daughter" were doing.
If anyone had told him that was going to be one of his worst days on earth, he won't have agreed to them coming over or even stayed away from home.

Things were going fine until one of the 'big aunties' said he had added quite some weight since she last saw him and teased him about how "life dey treat him well well".

That was the last straw as Atinuke bitterly narrated to Mama Janet her version of everything that went on in their house...leading to a great deal of unprintable insults on him.
This single event proved to be a great turning point of his life he swore it would never repeat itself.

Two weeks later, he was able to settle for a teaching job in Surulere...one he hated so much but was stuck at, where he earned a salary that will make any married man cry.

As our people say, behind every disappointment is a blessing...

It turns out God's blessing was indeed waiting for Mr Adeola, though dressed in a form he didn't recognize immediately. http://www.goo.gl/cTC484
It was one that he accidentally stumbled upon while reading a popular Nigerian forum.

Having failed in the past he worked on this differently and even went as far as begging his wife for a loan (which he later paid back) just to make the best of his opportunity.
Surprisingly, it grew bigger than anyone could have expected, and was responsible for saving his marriage from the brink of divorce, ending his financial crisis and giving his family a better life. http://www.goo.gl/cTC484

Adeola's story is truly one that proves the fact that no matter what you face in life, God is in total Control

You will learn some life lessons from this especially if you are a Nigerian married man who has lost his job or you are currently struggling with your job and really need another source of income.

Interesting story, one thing you should pray about is for you to marry an understanding wife, comes rain comes shine she'll stand by you, not the type that will love you when you have the world and turn your life a leaving hell when nothing keeps coming.
