He made himself minister in that sector of the economy and he should be invited to give account on what's happening in that sector! I mean, if it was a different minister that minister would have been invited so why not the president?...its democracy my dear

Did they summon the president to the senate to explain the fuel scarcity in the last regime close to the end of his tenure? Or other burning issues of insecurity ,immigration saga, corruption etal? Many of em were senators then, suddenly they've got their tongue now.And someone would tell me change isn't here?

Unknown said...

They should

Unknown said...

These Senators are Real AssHoles.
Why didn't they ask Nigerians on whether to drastically cut their overbloated earnings which is drying the Nigerian State coffers.

WHY NOT?
IS HE NOT A HUMAN BEING ? Since he chose to be the minister of petroleum he should be ready to answer questions and summoning. There is no immunity for the office of the minister of petroleum, hence let him be summoned.

This guys in the Senate are so foolish, must they wait for Nigerians to tell them what to do before doing their job. This is a democracy and people are suffering everyday because the government is not doing what they are suppose to do. If the constitution empowers them to summon the president to answer pertinent questions on things of importance to the country, why not. So, members of the senate, stop making a big fool of yourself and act right. Represent the people, not your pockets

Why not. They should invite the bloody Minster.

Ideally yes but for sake of his parallel role as President, his deputy the Minister of State can be summoned thereof.

Anonymous said...

They should pls invite him. Afterall he is the Minister of Petroleum. Imagine buying fuel for N200 in Orile Iganmu axis and PHCN will always take light between 7pm - 11pm at night.

You cant buy fuel to power your generator, PHCN will not bring light when you need it most especially just coming back from work.

Biko!!! they should call him joor.

I just don't get it. Why the asking? It is like he is above his responsibility by this demand and seems like the senate is afraid of the minister. He should well tell nigerians the Happenings in his ministry. We demanded answers under gej and accused him of incompetence and cluelessness even when he was not the minister. Nigerians should do the right things for once and stop looking at faces.

If the president didn't want distraction he shd have left that Minister of petroleum portfolio for someone else. He should be given the same treatment as other ministers. He is accountable for the oil and gas sector.

President buhari is not above the LAW OF THE LAND ,thats what he preached during his campaign, I like him ,he has being trying to put back to shape and standard things that have being destroyed by previous leaders.
He decided to head and handle the ministry of petroleum ,if the Senate feels by law he needs to be questioned as regard the Fuel scarcity, he will surely reply them with detail answers and and he can appoint someone in his office to handle that .I strongly believe is not happy about the current situation and his working everyday to fix it .

Unknown said...

@stern if you were useful you have become Nigerian president. Please speak like someone who is an elite. Moreso you luck you not in mugabes country t would have wiped out your whole generation and just because there's democracy doesn't mean you speak like someone who can't afford education. Pls catch sense nw

What a ridiculous question? What good has this 8th assembly done for Nigeria. Busy doing the irrelavants- summon president fuel scarcity, loud false allegations, close down the assembly to acompany friend to criminal charge trial. I'm sure Nigeria can run successfully without you. At least your salaries could be used for significant development. Yeye people. Oshi

There's nothing wrong with inviting any public servant in the Nigerian government, but let's face the truth, most moves initiated from the camp of the PDP is primarily undertuned to portray the present administration in a bad light before Nigerians and not primarily because they (the PDP) cared any inch for the wellbeing of Nigerians, otherwise they wouldn't have left the country plundered into a mess.

Anonymous said...

Dis is pathetic! The Senate (lawmakers) seeking permission from citizens to summon d petroleum minister. These guys obviously dont know or read the constitution.#shameonSenate

Economically this present govt is a fairlure so far... No plans on ground to better the economy, governors threntening to cut down pay, scarxity of fuel, paucity of funds, unemployment on the increase, corrupt politicians still parading the lenght and breadth of the country ostensibly while the prison houses the poor that lack money for litigation,no hope for the downdroddened. Stop telling us Nig is broke with an urgent step to better the condition. So much noise was made abt CHANGE. I wont event talk abt Boko haram its nt yet uhuru. The present govt haa only succeeded in instilling fear into public office holders but let jailing begin, we cant wait to bad eggs rot in jail. So far PMB has nt lived upto expectation but he can still step up. Pray for president its not an easy job though.
