5 months as a governor, I am already tired - El Rufai

Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai says the stress of seeking ways of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in Kaduna state has left him tired after just 5 months of assuming office. El Rufai said this while speaking at the just-concluded Ake Arts and Book Festival which held in Abeokuta, Ogun State November 17-21.
“As a state governor the challenge for me is what to do to create jobs in Kaduna State. Eighty-two per cent of the eight million people in Kaduna State are below the age of 35.
My challenge is not whether population grows next year or the year after. It is to get jobs for this young people, otherwise no one will sleep in peace. Frankly speaking, five months as governor, I am already tired. I honestly do not think that anyone who wants to do this job seriously can do it for more than four years and not burn out. When I look at some of my colleagues, some are putting on weight, they are looking nice, I ask them, ‘how do you do it?”he said

It's not really easy for a sincere person who has the interest of his people at heart but that's the major reason we have people at various positions to look after those in their care.
One person can't handle all the local government areas in a state.

Question: When I look at some of my colleagues, some are putting on weight, they are looking nice, I ask them, ‘how do you do it?.

Answer: They are not working, they just embezzled.

There is no way a leader that really wanna serve his people won't stressed out. I pity u though, with the terrorism going on over there, who will come invest???

He should do the honorable thing. Resign. Can't imagine an elected chief executive of a state saying this.
Just kaduna state and he and his cohorts were busy abusing GEJ who was in charge of 36 states and Abuja? Including international relations?
Please do the needful. Just throw in your resignation

Being a leader (good one) is not a cup of tea. Unlike the governor of my state who has been traveling and neglecting the issue of salary for two months and want to merger two months salary to pay one month salary.

Don't mind him. Trying to elicit sympathy but exposing how shallow n clueless dey are. Dey think effective leadership is all abt making speeches n bn liked. He ought to have tot of DAT, how to go about it, which technocract to engage etc b4 indicating interest in the first place n going ahead to make unrealistic campaign promises. Anyways dis is not d time 4 dis so deal with it n don't complain or risk bn hunted by posterity. Pple who spew rubbish abt pple without thinking. Mtcheeeeew!

You are tired because you don't have vision or mission, all you people want is go there and embezzle money.

To create job for most Nigerians is not hard just get the right team together to do the right investment. Job will spring up. take not, government/private sector partnership.

Anonymous said...

its easy to criticize from the side. face it now or resign your job since you are lack of ideas to handle the state.

Unknown said...

OK nw he is seeing it but, he wanted to be president. And fought everywhere to have it. This is the kind of thing that those in leadership see that others don't. It is not easy. Even this Governor that once fought GEJ tooth and nail is now saying it. E never start, 2 years after u go sabi

You are correct sir! May God give u d wisdom to creat d job.

Oga e dey easy to create job. First and foremost, everybody who has reached the age of 55 years or hv worked up to 30 years in the ministry shld retire. Again try and check out the ghost workers in the ministries. You will be so amazed the no of spaces u will get. Then try and put up even if it's one industry in ur regime and assist these youths. Thank you sir.

I agree with El-Rufai's position on this issue, Our Man in Lagos does not even care after two months of not having public water in the center of excellence, which has never happened in the last 8 years.

It seems El-Rufai desires to work, my heart is with him and he will succeed in Jesus name,

Mayu be it is high time the North start to implement number of children per family as if 82% of the entire population of the state are under the age of 35, then there is a problem.

He has to take care of their Educational needs even before talking of the jobs that will meet the requirement of these ones so that they wont become the devils workshop as we all know that the Boko Haram menace is still there.

Unknown said...

I really hope that he perseveres and never quite on the people of Kaduna as the have strong faith in his governance. HE shouldn't try to start embezzling like some other Governors who somehow are managing to grow fatter when the people they are leading are getting thinner. It definitely would pay of after 4 years!

Anonymous said...

If this is true, it is good to hear and learn of the reality and since we are in a free world, our dear governor may like to tread the path of honour by resigning his appointment and hand over to his deputy for effective governance. May God save the soul of his state and that of our beloved country Nigeria. Toks

A Great chance to do that is when Nothern, Southern, Eastern and every part of the country goes back to its ROOTS and evolve a system that takes care of its own people thereby creating enabling competition from each region to learn from the other.Secondly because you people are wasting your energy cause of Pride to control entire people you have no idea how to manage. If Elrufai is good he should be beyond 4years but after 5months he is Tired:)
