Okada riders protest in Akure (photos)

Happening right now in the City of Akure, Ondo State. Motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada are protesting right in front of the Governor's Office saying Governor Mimiko imposed on them to pay N6000 for commercial number plates and anyone who defaults will face the wrath of the law and their Okada will be seized and taken to the office of the Task Force put in place by the Mimiko.

The protest has paralyzed activity in the city. See more photos after the cut...

Paralysed activity in the city? 'okada' is the chief means of transport there? But the actions of their governor is definitely borderline extortion.

Linda, i don't understand your stories any more. you said in your story that okada riders are protesting against mimiko's order, but it is not the same report i saw online, they are protesting due to extortion by police men and are calling for justice. pls read the story again and then make some corrections.

Is it not FRSC that's in charge of Number plates? They should carry their protest elsewhere .
