It is very pathetic. The real truth is that some of the black South Africans are still in chains mentally. They do not fight the whites who took over their lands, wealth and all, and are living in luxury in South Africa but they are angry that fellow blacks from other countries can make it just like the whites.
I was in South Africa early in the year for a meeting and I slept in a high profile hotel. There were whites everywhere being served by blacks. I noticed that most of the blacks were always surprised to see blacks from other countries feel free among the whites. As a Nigerian I didn’t care to notice who was black or white because I don’t have low self- esteem problems. I made my presentation before some blacks and whites and they clapped for me and the grant I went for sailed through.
Later, I went to town and I got talking with a female shop assistant. I told her that in Nigeria, young men and women are very industrious and she said their men are lazy. I even challenged her to think of having her own shop. I also learnt that the girls get pregnant very early. These are the real issues. Rather than kill ‘black foreigners’, they should ask us how we are achieving despite the challenging environments in our country.
They should arise to fight and kill illiteracy, ignorance, fear, laziness, indiscipline, inferiority complex, poverty, bitterness, suspicion and the like. These are the real enemies of the black South African who believes in carrying out xenophobic attacks. They should know that Mandela is dead and gone, and nobody, not even Nigeria is ready to spend time, money and human resources for them any longer. If they really need help, they should turn to God, listen to Nigerian preachers who have helped to give us hope and teach us how to conquer our fears through God’s word, and be ready to work hard like Nigerians(and other Africans) who have succeeded against the odds.
