Photos: EKSU students brutalized during protest in Epe today

There was rioting between students of Ekiti State State University (EKSU) and the management of one of its affiliate colleges, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education in Noforija, Epe Lagos State where some students were allegedly brutalized by security men drafted by the school to disperse them.

Heard the riot was over the failure of MOCPED to present the results of students of the College to the Senate of EKSU for approval which would enabled the affected students obtain certificates.

The management is not taking our matter seriously. Most of them are TERRORISTS. They didn't allow us to have SUG to represent out rights but we didn't worry much. They are only interested in money rather than our success. The soldiers that came to stop the peaceful protest are also TERRORISTS because only a terrorist with threaten the safety of the innocent people(to the extend of beating unharmed civilians including ladies as the evidence implies above, HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT FROM MILLITANT AND BOKO HARAM?), most of them can't even fight real combat, they(half baked soldiers) use uniforms and guns to threaten people because that's the only power they have. Without uniforms and guns, they remain LAZY FOOLS WITH FISH BRAIN. Real SOLDIERS use brain to work. FIGHT BOKO HARAM and don't show your power on UNHARMED CIVILIANS (OR BLOODY CIVILIANS AS YOU CALL US). #WEWILLWIN

I'm also a student of dis so called school, we can't continue to live our life in lies, the school management gives us the same whole story everytime ano issue arises . The drama started when the students of Ekiti State University in affiliation with Michael Otedola College of Primary education staged a peaceful protest to agitate against the unfair treatment of d management of the institution. A press release by the mother institution (Ekiti State University) on the 23rd of January 2015 prompted this protest. In the publication, MOCPED was accused of huge indebtedness and non remittance of students result to the school (eksu) senate for approval. This press release and the unfair treatment of students on this campus prompted students to demand for explanation from the school management . Some of the things agitated for by the students include: 1. Untimely release of examination result 2. Embezzlement of our school fees 3. Non remittance of Eksu's fund 4. Non processing of students certificate 5. Unstable academic calendar 6. Poor managerial setting 7. Poor administration of the degree program ......... The peaceful protest was later turned sour on the arrival of the army. On their (soldiers) arrival, they started shooting to the air & at the same time harassing the students with their ammunition without hearing the students view. Students where tortured like criminals without committing any crime. At a point, the soldiers started looting nearby hostels and any student found inside the hostel was seriously dealt with. Many students were injured by this soldiers without any justifiable reason. I am yet to fathom the reason why those who are supposed to protect our fundamental human right are the ones infringing on our right. How long will this continue? When will all this maltreatment stop? This act is totally repugnant to natural justice and we want the government to intervene in this issue. We can't continue this way. Please government come to our aid. Our destiny is at stake.

Anonymous said...

Well its not the best the management should have done to pacify it. Imagine the afflicted institution was confronted on a national dallies paper on the 23rd that the school, Mocped refuse to submit results for approval and as well has huge debt on ground which is affecting the programme at large, now the school in reply pasted a paper in the school environs that what was posted as an allegation by the main campus was false, why can't the afflicte school do also the same by publishing it so the whole world will know that it is indeed a lie. But that's the portray of the leader of the school. You don't use the violent way to stop a peaceful protest, now many students were injured, arrested, intact they went as far as ransacking their homes and arresting them
