Gone are the days when some ignorant Foreigners thought we Africans as tree-dwelling, Low-life's, but i say and know that Africans have obviously risen above being thought as a poverty stricken God-forsaken continent, producing some of the best and most influential people on earth, with the likes of supermodels we all know, scientist, Computer guru's, fashionista's, prominent t.v personalities, lets no even forget our very own Dangote, who is undoubtedly one of the richest people in the World right now, even people with outstanding I.Q's ,to name a few,all competing with the highest of high World standards, rising above all barriers assumed we wont cross. Africa also is known to be naturally endowed with many of the worlds rarest natural resources, with some the most beautiful tourist's attractions out, Africans are definitely are some of the most-strongwilled people any one can come across, proving to the World, that if you will, you can do it there so i say what's there not to believe in Africa? “My name is Folorunsho Oluwadoyinsola and, like Coca-Cola, I am also a reason to believe in Africa!”

Africa, the second most populous continent, with abundant natural resources, yet the world's poorest and most underdeveloped continent; however, From 1995 to 2005, Africa's rate of economic growth increased, averaging 5% in 2005, The continent is believed to hold 90% of the world’s cobalt, 90% of its platinum, 50% of its gold, 98% of its chromium, 70% of its tantalite,[74] 64% of its manganese and one-third of its uranium.
A Harvard University study showed that Africa could easily feed itself, if only it had decent governance - This is what every individual african nation is presently struggling to achieve.

A BILLION REASONS TO BELIEVE IN AFRICA
There are audible echoes across the globe that Africa is where the future lies. Its people are the carriers of that future and its land ready to lead that future.
A billion reasons to believe in Africa aren’t satisfiable because at just a mere glance at this beautiful continent and its people we behold a TRILLION REASONS. Where do I start from? Is it how we overcame the whips of colonization and emerged from that dark chapter of our history bigger, brighter and better? Or how a single individual, our hero, a living legend Nelson Mandela overcame aphides that caused conflict and division among a people, not with guns or bullets but with words of hope, justice, and equality sending a powerful message to the world at large? Or is it how Africa still lives the world in wonderment anytime they stare at the great pyramid of GIZA still standing strong in the heart of Egypt of all the Seven Wonders of the World? Or how the same country Egypt showed signs of civilization earlier than any other nation in the world? They developed the first system of writing and numbers. Their contribution to various fields of Mathematics is evident in studies like Geometry, algebra and the Pythagoras theorem. I could go on and on.
Africa, the second largest and most populous continent in the world gives the world more than a billion reasons to believe in her. Those who still harbor doubts that Africa has nothing to offer should look back to 2010 how the world cup was hosted on our soil in a grand style showcasing our hospitality, beauty, love for peace, and collective cooperation. Our immerse contribution to sport is more than a billion reasons to believe in Africa. Look to every football club in any part of the world and you would see an African player who is not only instrumental to the club but is also proud to hail from the black continent, showing the world a billion reasons to believe in the skills and talents that Africans possess in the world of football.
Our contribution to knowledge say Education is phenomenal. As a continent, we have produced one of the greatest philosophers of all times SAINT AUGUSTINE the Christian philosopher, pioneering the fields of philosophy and psychology. His words light up our world till date. “men go abroad to wonder at the heights of the mountains, the huge waves of the sea, the long course of the river, the vast compass of the ocean, the circular motion of the stars but they pass themselves and don’t even notice” such wisdom emerging from a continent most of us looked down on.
A conversation started between a man and woman in India coincidentally. The lady had proposed to write an article about an African country Nigeria to be precise based on the notion she had about the country. “You want to write an article against Nigeria” the man asked and she replied yes! He went on and said “In your article don’t forget to include that over 134 years in a British University the best result was gotten by a Nigerian, an African”
Should we also talk about music? African Musicians are on the cutting edge taking music away from Africa and are going International, especially Nigerian Musicians.
We are humbled by our contributions and achievements in various aspects of human existence, we are not also blind to the fact that we are not perfect people, we know our limit but the beauty of the African Spirit is that we are not afraid to dare, try and reach for obviously the impossible, because of our belief in what we have, what we share and who we are – Africans.

Chibuzor said...

Continuation...

Should I also point out our immerse contribution to the world of fashion design? Go to any runway show and behold how people who are not even Africans cloth themselves ion our beautiful traditional attire, our designers are sought after around the globe.
On a lighter note clarify any doubts in the minds of those who still harbor any, take a trip to a nation America touch down Washington DC, if you still haven’t noticed what I am to say don’t be discouraged still drive down to a place called white house I believe that is the number 1 house in America. Be sure to have a pass to get in and see for yourself why you ought to believe in Africa. You can tour the white house for the sake of experience but if by chance you get into the oval office you would see a tall, handsome, slim black man around his fifties, they refer to him as Mr. President. In the whole country he is referred to by that name because that is who he is, the President of the United States of America. You wonder why he is black right. Just ask an African and they’ll tell you his father farmed on the African soil, lived on the African soil and was born on the African soil and further produced the First black African President of the United States of America. BELIEVE IN AFRICA!!!

I'm black, I don't feel burdened by it and I don't think it's a huge responsibility. It's part of who I am. It does not define me.Oprah winfrey.

Africa has humongous resources to develop its people. I believe so much in Africa as i have seen untapped opportunities lying fallow. All we need as Africans is 1.TRANCENDENCY - Helping others actualise.
2.Self Actualization. I.E PURPOSEFUL LIVING. It is said: "Man is a goal seeking animal, he "only" finds fulfillment and pleasure when he sets goals and charges after them until achievement"~ Aristotle. Trust me if we imbibe in this attitude and replicate it year in year out. We would transform Africa. Africa is a goldmine full of natural resources, intellect and human capacity. AFRICA IS THE PLACE.

Africa has deposit of millions of untapped resources lying fallow. I see Africa in the next 20 yrs competing with the economic giant like America, china etc."only" if we imbibe in this culture below.

1.TRANSCENDENCY- Helping others actualize
2. Self Actualization I.E PURPOSEFUL LIVING

Our future is in our hands.I also believe that the corruption that is so endemic in our system will only become a thing of the past when the African society begins to establish deep rooted values that embrace patriotism and selfless act but which also absolutely frown upon greed and self interest which leads to corruption. Corruption will perish in Africa if well structured institutions are created to hold everyone accountable for their acts or omissions to the society.AFRICA IS THE PLACE.
